Okay, so, college is the best time of your life, right? Here is the place where I will chat about all of my zany friends in the reality that I live in. College has been a lot of fun, and here are some crazy stories of my encounters
Here is us. Here we are.L to R:Katrina, Capiz, Me.
CLASSES: Okay... So Here at AU we have classes. I guess that it wouldn't be college without them, but I think that when they go and put 50 people in a class, noone sees you there anyway, so you figure... noone is gonna miss me... and stay in bed. Sure, 8:30 is an early class. There is NO way to make an 8:30. Me? I can sleep through 2:10s. 8:30 is the middle of the night. Sorry. And nighttime math classes are satanic. Never take a night time math block class, because dinner vs stat always come out to food winning. I know this for a fact. Food always takes a priority, because college kids have a tendency to randomly starve in the middle of the day. And you MUST eat. Which brings us to the next topic...
FOOD: Okay, this is the main priority to us here at school. We pack in boxes of food into our rooms. Ramen, Chef Boyardi, Macaroni and cheese... All to avoid the dining hall. Now, don't get me wrong, hot meals and ice cream are wonderful, but eating on campus is not fun. Thats why living in the city is good. Restaurant hopping is a division one sport for the first month, and then you realize you are out of money and wish that you could have more money for take out. And take out is so good. I just ordered take out, actually.
FRIENDS: Oh dear, they are what makes everything in this whole sea of strangers worthwhile. I have made some great friends, and they will be here.
Kimmy: Kimmy is my roommate from Boston with the infectuous laugh and the great drive to get her work done. She's sucjh a sweetheart, and always makes me smile. I don't see her as much as I used to because I'm always either sleeping or playing upstairs. She has a great sense of humor and she's really good about letting me sleep until 2:30 every day. We have these great philosophical talks at 3:00am a lot. If we're both up, we're talking. Its great.
Katya: See Katrina.
Kat: See Capiz
Tim Sharma: Tim is Tim. He is crazy and insane and I love him. He's always dancing around and singing, and even if he's in a bad mood, he can put me in a better one. He's a theater major, and a good one at that, very talented when it comes to stage managing and that stuff... He's entertaining to say the least. He's wonderful with a guitar and he can sing, even though he won't admit it. We spend hours in his room smoking and listening to Tom Waits and Pink Floyd. He's nutty and never afraid to be that way. Tim is the only person I have ever known to strip in the dining room. He also scared a prospective student by walking around the 5th floor in only his socks with a cigar. That was funny too.
Scott: See Scott.
Amber: Amber is the pickle- nature's penis. She is also a camel. Amberita is our fun older friend who has the same birthday is Kat. She is so funny online, we don't know what to do with ourselves. Constantly quoting Monty Python, and frequently visiting 610 for smoke breaks, Amber just is the greatest person to chill with. Amber also has an amazing knack for computers, and help me to get the scanner to work. SHe is also a gifter ballroom dancer, and frequently teaches us dance steps. In this picture, she was trying to teach us the salsa, or something... We were listening to "Besame Mucho" and well, we decided to dance. Oh... I forgot...We can't have something about amber and not have any PURPLE in it. Here you go amber. Amber is addicted to purple. If you see her, she is either eating something purple, using her purple lighter, or carrying a purple bag... And usually she'll be wearing purple too. But thats Amber, and we love her. yes we do.
Justin: Justin is my sexy friend who looks like Julian from The Forbidden Game. He's so much fun to hang out with, with his cynical sense of humor and his constant philosophical contemplation of Starcraft and AU itself. He's also a great person to talk to for putting your head back on straight. For some reason he is one of those people who is SO interesting that you just want to hang out with them all the time. Justin is. and the rest is silence.
Greg: Greg is my new favorite frat boy. He is one of the most wonderful people that I know. He's BEAR. he growls rral good, but he's real cuddly. He has a car and drives us around to neat places to climb trees, like the FDR and takes us to breakfast at 3am. Blasting good music the whole way. He and i have some real good talks too. And theres so much more that I ca't think of today.
12-14-98, 1:43 am So here I am here in my other room and I am not drunk. See I sleep in 214 but I live in 610. Katya is here and we have decided that she is shaped like a bird from the waist up. She says that she is shaped like a Mack truck from the waist down but I think that she's more like a Mazda Miata. I was laughing and spit on her foot so now I am a car wash. Do they have Mack-truck car washes? Katya says if she is a bird that she wants to be a turkey.
We have decided that Sarah is too mellow and we must listen to something else now. So now "Mustang Sally" is on. I have spent the past 48 hours with Katya and her partner in crime Kitty Kat. We had a girly sleep over last night after I taught the two of them how to make webpages. And we talked about BOYS. EEEEEWWWWWW. Ze Kat is ze phone wit Will. We have decided that ALL men need to have tongue rings for the sheer purpose of pleasing their women.
Katya and I have realized that we are the only people on campus who DONT CARE ABOUT FINALS. No more studying. We go on midnight CVS runs and buy Xmas presents every night. YAY VISA! Another thing that I don't get. 24 hour quiet hours. I don't WANT to be quiet. But even though there are 24 hour quiet hours, we've had 3 firedrills... hmmmm.... I find that the best way to study is blasting real loud music. But noone else seems to like that idea. Katya is a good bed dancer. College beds are great trampolines, but those damn ceiling tiles are so annoying. But everything is so interesting when you are a few feet off the ground. Wouldnt it be neat if we couldnt touch the ground and had to walk on stilts EVERYWHERE? I think that would be neat. Katya can make it from one side of the room to the door without touching the ground. "Well Hello?" I said. "How ELSE did I hang the xmas lights?" She just laughs at me and dances out into the hall and then runs back because she forgot to put out the cigarette. Ya know, ordering food is so wonderful. But not when Kat is on the phone allda time. So Katya and I are hopping on the beds waiting to order our food. There are so many great fast food places. The BEST one is In RI where Christopher goes to school. Chris goes to URI. And they have DP Dough. AHHHH It is the BEST calzone in the whole world, but in DC, NO, we have subs n stuff and Domino's... But then again, Papa John's is the best pizza ever. And WE have that and URI don't. 12-15-98, 10:02pm: So. Here I am again, and although it feels like I haven't written on this page in a while, it was only yesterday. Funny how days last until you go to sleep. It doesn't matter if you go to sleep at 5am on Sunday morning... ITS STILL Saturday. I don't care what anyone says. It can't possibly be a new day if you haven't slept. Lets just change the calendar some... and days start at maybe 2pm. That is morning. And then we continue from there. Sleep to hide from the evil rays of the sun at high noon. Went to breakfast for the first time all semester and realized that I rather liked breakfast. They had eggs and sausage and toast and fruit but no granola or cream cheese... Funny how when you REALLY have to have something in the dining hall, you can't have it? Like Dr. Pepper is NEVER Dr. Pepper.3-1-99, 6:51pm: Wow, so much has happened since last I was at a computer. Here I am in the computer lab, with 2 packs of cigarettes in my pockets and my head hurting like noone's business. Chris and I broke up, and that has made everything here at school so much more confusing. I think that it is much easier to not have to deal with people on a 'hey maybe we can go out sometime' type of deal. So I am here and single and finding myself in really tough situations, caught between better judgement and what I feel in my heart as right. Kat and I have become very close, and Katrina and Tim now have an amazing relationship- they really are very much in love. Kat and Will are still alright, and I now spend 90% of my time in 610. Funny how in times of internal turmoil one fears being alone. I have been drinking again, too... My poor liver. Funny how when someone offers to buy you a drink, it is so hard to refuse. So. Here I am, confused and nic fitting, with the full moon rising above and the wind whipping my hair into my eyes... 5-10-99, 10:33pm: So the semester sucked. All of it. It really sucked. bUt now it is over, and I am trying to figure out if I am leaving home, or going home. I am leaving my two very closest friends, and I dont know what its going to be like without them at any time. So many memories, squashed n there... I cant even conceive of writing them all down. Instead, I am going to do a page, remniscent of my days here in 610. Are you a victim of the Black Hole? Click and take the quiz to find out. This semester has been both good and evil... We'll see how evli when I am home. Also, click here for Reasons to NOT go to college complied by Heather and I. And now, this is Meesa, Melistica, the ice princess, and just plain Melissa signing off. See you in the fall. *home * realities * philosophies * sanity**nightmares and dreamscapes**adult life * browsing * technicalities*
