ITS NOT BRIAN ITS SHAWN! SO I haven't seen or heard from Kat for a while. Given we were never friends persay, but she seemed cool enough. So anyway- there are some crazy people on my floor. Like Ally in 2-something teen. She's a real sweet girl, and her boyfriend Brian is pretty crazy himself. So it didn't suprise any of us in the lounge watching a movie when there were strange tickle screaming noises coming from Ally's room. But James was in there kinda passed out, so Jim and I poke out heads in to see whats going on and one... two... three heads pop out from Ally's cover, and Jim flips out... "AH! ITS SHAWN, SHAWN WITH TWO GIRLS AH!" It was actually quite entertaining. Kat and Ally were grinning like chesire cats and poor Shawn was being tickled to death. This was right around the time that the room swap of the century was trying to be planned... (see Katrina for more detail)
610, OPEN 24 HOURS So after all the zaniness of the room swap plan, Katrina aquiesced to move in with Capiz, into 610, on the (smoking) frat floor at the top of the world. So Tim and I move Katrina in with Kat. Now I don't really know this girl, but her bed covers matched mine, and she had a print done by the same artist as my favorite poster in my room, and I flipped... "WOW! If I moved in here, we would have been in complete color coordination!" Kat Kind of gave me this little, "um... sure" look, and went about her business. Katrina at this time was dating Mike and the next night Mike was up there with Katrina and I stopped by. Capiz was doing a paper, and Katrina was playing online games and I was chilling on Katrina's bed. That night, we stayed up almost all night. That night set a standard for the room. Kat and Kate's room, became the room that didn't sleep.
GIVE ME MYSELF AGAIN The standard had been set. 610 was local congregation all night insomniac room. I had become a permanent resident. After break, people just knew to call me there. My parents, my friends, and Chris.I was not dumped in my room. I was dumped in Capiz and Katrina's. Katrina was right there through the whole thing, in shock, and when Capiz came back, she took one look at me and was like, "Oh my god, what did i miss??" That was the night that I almost chopped off two feet of my hair, and then proceeded to sit there and stare at the wall, smoking two entire packs of cigarettes. It was also at that point that some issues arose between Capiz and Will. I won't go into them, but Capiz was very upset. At one point during the course of the week, she turned to me with this look of pain and awe, and simply said, "I can't do what you are doing right now." The breakup brought the two of us so much closer together, me dealing with being a single unit, and Capiz realizing that she had no desire to ever be a single unit again. We had Tori Amos's "Little Earthquakes" on at one point, with all the lights off, except for the blue and green xmas lights and Mortimer Augustus Snelloway the fiberoptic tree-friend we have. At different point in the song both Capiz and I: the rocks, the ice princess and mistress unattainable, broke down into tears, holding onto each other for dear life. Then we decided that Tori was bad and we put on some song by Everclear (santa monica?) and in perfect harmony, with our tearstained cheeks we serenaded Katrina, who didn't know what to do with the two of us.
KNOW SHE BREAKS The 610 residency had become the song "Siren" by Tori. "Know the chill... Know she breaks..." Each of the three of us represented parts of the song... almost brave, almost pregnant, almost in love... We all became rather close. We were referred to as "The Kats" "The Coven" when one of the three of us was missing, people would make this huge deal about looking for her. I moved into 610. I had my blanket and pillow and my books all up there, and I just didn't leave. I sat up there smoking and ordering chinese food and watching HBO, avoiding the daylight at all costs. This sets the stage for our second act.
CHICAGO BY NIGHT So here's Scott chatting with Capiz and I about how much he misses roleplaying. Here's Capiz with a girlish little grin on her face, declaring how much she missed the table top game. Here's me who only plays online role playing games. Here's the two veteran Vampire the Masquerade players pinning me down and having me sign in blood to play. Well not really, but basically the two of them convinced me that I had to play. Katrina was excited about playing too, but in the throes of her new relationship there wasn't enough time in a day for everything to get done. So we began character creation and this in depth game with Scott as our GM/ST/ whatever and Capiz and I playing. It was wonderful, and we stayed up til 5 playing and playing. And then again the next night, playing and playing... It was wonderful, but right around this time, Capiz's body decided to disown her.
610 CABIN FEVER BLUES Complications to an old injury suck. They really do. I know this. Capiz knows better. Capiz's back decided to give out. ANd she really could not move. We called the health center on Friday, who said they'd call back... But they didn't. So that weekend, I was Capiz's mommy. Practically immobile, I helped her eat, I brought her to the bathroom, I entertained her, and I just sat with her. I didn't want to leave her by herself, and I didn't want to keep Katrina away from Tim, so I just moved in as surrogate mommy. It got to be pretty crazy at times... One night we had gotten so bored that we played MASH. Yup. How seventh grade is that? It was so funny, we laughed until we were in tears... We had such interesting things come up... I'll just say that Fiji was definately the place to be... After our impromtu game, we ended up signing the blues at the top of our lungs (at 4am). We sang the "610 Cabin Fever Blues" and it made us feel so much better.
PACKAGE DEAL Capiz and I became two of a kind for a while. Wherever one of us was, the other wasn't far. It was entertaining, too, because the two of us are Mirror Twins: her red hair vs my blonde, both to our waists, both 5'8" with a size 8.5 shoe, her eyes deep brown where mine are a grey green and her skin is pale translucent and untannable, mine is a creamy pink that tans easily. "Bookends" Greg called us, and we can look pretty nice when we decide to try.
TAURINE CHRONICLES So, one day I'm smoking a cigarette outside the Blue mountain coffee place, and my friend Chris comes up to me. "Wow, I had this neat energy drink, and I am SO fuckin WIRED!" I figured that I'd give it a try. ZING. OKay, whatever Taurine is, I love it. I was bouncing up and down and It was better than any other drug. SO I go get Kitty. "KITTY ya GOTTA try this. So we each buy 4 more. And we chug them. Ever see "Sevis and Butthead do America?" Well, that part where Bevis is running around shaking and mumbling incoherently about CORNHOLIOOOOO... that was Capiz and I/ Bopuncing around, jittering. BLINKY BLINKY BLINKY? Nuts. People thought we were strung out on coke. we were SO gone. Then I had my own personal rave. I put on my "The Saint" soundtrack and I danced until I fell down. Now, ever since this night, it is impossible to find this Taurine energy drink. ANYWHERE. WE wonder if they might have recalled it... maybe there was coke in it.... ::shrug:: Oh well. THat was a fun night. And there was a big fire too. But I didn't do it.
