| Hello and welcome to my Tori Amos site! I always loved piano music, so Tori Amos
was bound to become my favourite singer. Since I speak pretty good English, Tori's lyrics aren't any
problem to me. That's why I never considered that her lyrics must be really difficult to people who don't speak
English fluently, for example the French. Thanks to Stéphan, a French guy who sent me an e-mail, I discovered that many French people don't understand what Tori sings in her songs. And that's a true shame, because her lyrics are really like little poems. But there is a solution: now all French speaking Tori fans can read the translations on my page. Simply click on the links and read them! Some of the translations are done by Lauren, who sent me some of her work. |
Bonjour et bienvenue sur mon site de Tori Amos! J'ai toujours aimé la musique au piano,
alors Tori Amos, c'est vraiment ma chanteuse favorite. Puisque je parle très bien anglais,
les paroles de Tori ne sont pas un problème pour moi. Voilà pourquoi je n'avais pas idée
que ses paroles étaient si difficiles pour des gens qui ne parlent pas l'anglais couramment,
par exemple les français. Grâce à Stéphan, un garçon français qui m'a écrit une lettre par email, j'ai compris que beaucoup de gens français ne comprennent pas ce que Tori Amos chante dans ses chansons. Et ça c'est dommage, parce que les paroles sont vraiment des petites poèmes. Mais il y a une solution: maintenant tous les gens francophones peuvent lire les traductions dans ma page. Simplement "click" sur les liens et lisez-les! |

Remark: I know that an exact translation of Tori's lyrics is impossible. I agree with people who say
that it sort of 'screws up' her songs. I am not a fan of translations myself; I always read books in their original language. These translations are
just to give French people a CLUE as to what she sings. So I don't need any e-mail saying that these translations are a disgrace blah blah. If you think you can do a better
job, just show me and send me your French version.
