Saturday 12 September, from 10.00am to 4.30pm approx. At St John’s Church, West Bay, Dorset

The day is designed for competent adult recorder players, viols and singers. Ann will conduct a workshop throughout the day with an informal concert at the end of the afternoon (approximately 4.00pm). Please invite/encourage any partners, friends etc to come and listen either during the day and/or to the informal concert.

Tea/coffee and biscuits will be provided and there are pubs and cafes in West Bay for lunch, or please bring a packed lunch. There is a toilet available at the church.

The cost for the day is £13 for members of any Early Music Forum and £15 for non-members. ‘MASTERWORKS OF THE PORTUGUESE GOLDEN AGE’

This is an opportunity to sing sacred music by two of the greatest composers of Portugal’s late flowering renaissance in the 17th century and to work with David Allinson, famous for his combination of scholarship, musicianship and good humour.

Please arrive early in Tewkesbury for parking and Registration 9.30 am. There should be spaces in the long-stay town car parks near the Abbey. Bring your own lunch or use nearby pubs or cafes. Please note that the Abbey restaurant has closed. First session will be in the Abbey Room and from Noon onwards in the Abbey.

The cost of the day will be £14 for members of any Forum and £16 for non-members.

Dillington House is back!

This beautiful venue is booked for a
weekend of music making from 30th October to 1st November
to celebrate the anniversaries of Purcell and Handel

directed by Ralph Allwood, with additional tutors Lynn Selwood (strings) and Sophie Middleditch (winds & recorders)

This event is to celebrate the anniversaries of Purcell and Handel which fall in 2009. The main areas of study will be Purcell Symphony Anthems and instrumental pieces for singers and string players, Trio Sonatas and viol consorts with emphasis on music by Handel and Purcell.

The pitch will be 415 for the Anthems, but keyboards at 415 and at 440 will be provided for other groups. Music for the Anthems will be provided. Some instrumental music will be available, but instrumentalists are asked to bring any suitable music which they might like to study. The weekend starts at 5 pm on Friday and finishes at 2 pm after traditional Sunday lunch.

There will be an informal performance for everyone on Sunday morning at 11.30 am to which friends and relatives are invited.

Booking Forms will be in the June Diary or click here and must be returned by Monday 29 June with a non-returnable deposit of £50 for residents or £25 for non-residents (payable to SWEMF) to Heather Gibbard, 81 Church Lane, Backwell, Bristol BS48 3JL. (Balance due by Wednesday 30 September). The course will be advertised to the general public in the July Dillington brochure, so there may be no accommodation remaining for late applicants.

The cost of the weekend will range from £220 for a Single En-suite room to £260 for single occupancy of a Superior En-suite room. The cost includes meals and refreshments from dinner on the Friday to lunch on Sunday, as well as tuition. The fee for non-residents will be £140.
