The following
are pictures of the places that Oda Nobunaga
grew up at, built, lived and finally rested in; just how they look today,
in chronological order.

Where
the Oda clan itself came from, where Oda Nobunaga was born,
his hometown when he was the head of the family at 15 years
of age, where he moved to at 21 when he was the head of the
clan, and where he built his first castle at the start of his
all-Japan campaign.

The
beautiful lakeside where Oda Nobunaga put up his clan's HQ as
ruler of two provinces at the age of 26; the most important
place in his life, as most of his best achievements, when he
was in his thirties, were snatched when he was officially living
here.

The
once greatest castle in the entire Japan was built by Oda Nobunaga
on the nearly inaccessible gorgeous mountains up here; he designed
it himself, so it looked like himself -- a carnival
of everything subtly domestic, outrageously barbaric, magnificently
sinosized, a 'what-are-you-looking-at?' architectural salad.
He spent his forties in this homemade splendor. Mori Ranmaru
and Akechi Mitsuhide helped him designing the wonder of the
times: the famous Azuchi tower.

Today's
digitally electric Tokyo has already been an anthithesis to the
nearly-ancient capital of the Japanese Empire, Kyoto, in the Tokugawan
era. Today it is still enveloped in the atmosphere of its own
brand that differs but a little from what Oda Nobunaga felt whenever
he stayed there for some biz with the Emperor. Oda got quite a
lot to do with architecture when it comes to this city; he built
several palaces there -- though none was for himself.
