BERGMAN'S 90TH BIRTHDAY |
Celebrate what would have been Ingmar Bergman's 90th birthday on 14 July with a special screening of Smiles of a Summer Night at the AFI Silver Theatre and Cultural Centre in Silver Spring, MD.
The AFI Silver Gallery will also feature the exhibit "Ingmar Bergman: The Man Who Asked Hard Questions" from 14 July through mid-August.

IN SILENT CONVERSATION WITH INGMAR BERGMAN |
The
Kunstmuseum Thun in Switzerland holds a symposium and exhibition (5 July-7 September) which "makes visible and audible the variety of the complex dialogues undertaken by the contemporary artists with the œuvre of Ingmar Bergman."
An exhibition catalogue has been published by Christoph Merian Verlag and is available for purchase at their website.

STIG OLIN DIES AT 87 |
Stig Olin, who starred in six Bergman films in the 1940s and 1950s and went on to become a film and stage director, has died on 28 June at age 87.

BERGMAN SERIES AT SHANGHAI FESTIVAL |
The Shanghai International Film Festival (14-22 June 2008) features a 10-film tribute to Bergman with screenings of Smiles of a Summer Night, The Seventh Seal, Wild Strawberries, The Magician, The Virgin Spring, Through a Glass Darkly, The Silence, Persona, Cries and Whispers and Autumn Sonata.

EVA DAHLBECK DIES AT 87 |
