SARABAND MAKES YEAR-END CRITICS' LISTS |
Following its theatrical release in the U.S. this summer, Saraband has rated on numerous "Top 10" lists, including the Chicago Tribune, Time Magazine, USA Today, and The New York Times, whose Stephen Holden writes: "The bone-deep Nordic chill of Mr. Bergman's Freudian vision hasn't softened one whit." Sony Pictures will release Saraband on DVD in the U.S. on 10 January 2006.

The beautiful new official Bergman website went live in October 2005. It is currently available only in Swedish; an English-language version is in the works.

The Grand Illusion Cinema is teaming with the Seattle Art Museum to bring Seattle 11 films by the master filmmaker in August-September 2005. Bergman's great lead actor, Max von Sydow, has been invited to visit the series. Read the Seattle Times preview.

BERGMAN BELIEVES IN BACH AND BEETHOVEN |
Saying he believes more in Bach and Beethoven than God, Bergman gave extra input to a recent seminar on his work. "I believe in other worlds, other realities. But my prophets are Bach and Beethoven, they definitely show another world," said Bergman, according to Svenska Dagbladet. The seminar was part of the second "Bergman Week" festival on Fårö Island.
