Rock/post-rock heroes are back with their long awaited and highly anticipated new studio album, the wait is over and it was well worth it. The Lausanne-based trio HONEY FOR PETZI first imposed themselves massively with the 2001 full-length Heal all Monsters produced by STEVE ALBINI. They got catapulted at the front of the scene with this much acclaimed album praised by the critics, followed by constant touring in Switzerland and the rest of Europe, bringing the band's reputation to the top for their incredible live performances. Since Heal all Monsters, the band has been busy releasing the mini album Nicholson as well as the Angels Camp soundtrack, working on various solo and side-projects, playing many live gigs...
 
2005 sees the comeback of one of the most creative and stunning rock bands of our times with Man's Rage for Black Ham. New Release on Gentlemen Records & Sinnbus Records: HONEY FOR PETZI & SEIDENMATT - Split 10" Limited to 500 copies. To order this record click here : www.gentlemen.ch/mailorder.php it's the return of the clandestine. at last we are granted a sign of life from two bands we virtually don't know anything about: lausanne's honey for petzi and seidenmatt from berlin each release two new songs on what is the most beautiful of all formats: a 10" record. much more compact and raw than on their last album "nicholson" (gentlemen), honey for petzi's songs follow the direction the band has taken on from their fantastic album "heal all monsters" (gentlemen). honey for petzi do not so much think in seperate tracks, but in movements. their ensnared rock music closely passes odd rockisms, managing to avoid direct contact. enthroned in the music's center is the forceful and sparse drumming, dry and gristly bass and guitar figures and figurines playfully revolving around it in imperfect circles. the rough and dense sound and - especially in song two - the opposing beautiful harmonic movements once more demonstrate this band's impressive development within the coordinates set by their sparing use of instruments, and the ease with which they manage to break them apart. while honey for petzi thicken and condense their music more and more, seidenmatt try the opposite. with more lightness than on their album "wasserluft" (sinnbusrecords), they abolish their meticulously explored patterns of rise-and-fall dynamics, making way for a softer flow and a smoother breeze in their songs. noisy movements, once intensely celebrated, have been replaced by short and precise eruptions, sometimes mere suggestions. take "durchlicht" as an example: the soft drumming, gently entering the song, evokes loudness through its explicit absence. researching the effects of sound and noise, seidenmatt have discovered little shapes and forms, pauses and light structures. it is obvious that the band's approach to their music has become more relaxed, thus enabling them to act much more intensely and concretely than on their early recordings.

otherwise, there is a new book (an ECAL publication) with some interesting pictures by sami ("le groupe gris", "garages", "la maison des chats")...

25.11.04 /// hello ! well, the gig in reims (04.12.2004) has been cancelled ! otherwise, i got a very nice mail from philippe (basse): HONEY FOR PETZI will record a new album in 2005 with thierry van osselt (geneva), the guy who produced the "nicholson" ep and the MACHNICK album. actually, the recording was originally planned with steve albini. unfortunately, it won't be possible because of some financial reasons. anyway, van osselt's a good man too - great work !!!... :-) last but not least, HFP is also interested in making a record with remixes... we hope ! bye ! hello ! eh bien, le concert à reims (04.12.2004) a été annulé ! autrement, j'ai reçu un mail très sympa de philippe (basse): HONEY FOR PETZI enregistrera un nouvel album en 2005 avec thierry van osselt (genève), le gars qui a produit le ep "nicholson" et l'album de MACHNICK. en fait, l'enregistrement était initialement prévu avec steve albini. malheureusement, cela ne sera pas possible à cause de raisons financières. enfin, van osselt est aussi un mec cool - super boulot !!!... :-) dernier point mais non le moindre, HFP est aussi intéressé de faire un album de remixes... nous espérons ! bye !
