These are the episodes that our adored leader has appeared in. Who wants Mozenrath to have his own TV series on Disney? His fansites have sprung up like wildflowers, and people refuse to let him die. Disney should capitalize on this! If he did get his own series, he'd probably have to get changed into a good guy, but after The Book of Khartoum I suppose that's concievable. I've come to accept Iago, and I'm sure I could live with a Mozenrath sans ruthlessness. Small price to pay for his own show. Who wants a Mozenrath stand-alone cartoon? Click the camel, and we'll see!
And without further ado...
Enter Mozenrath! In the episode that started it all, we are introduced to a conniving young wizard who asks Aladdin to collar a loose Therdac, a creature that devours magic. With it's power, he will be able to control the Seven Deserts! When Aladdin and Iago are able to turn the tide on Mozenrath (who freed the Therdac so that it wouldn't consume him), we forever see that Mozenrath now has two obsessions: to rule the Seven Deserts and destroy Aladdin, always through trickery, ruthlessness, and magic. Mozenrath soon becomes one of the most fascinating Disney villains on television.
Best line - Mozenrath: "Why take over Agrabah? ...Oh, because it's THERE!!"
Once again, our favorite villain struts his cunning. Everyone around the castle is acting rather strangely, and Aladdin can't quite put his finger on what's wrong. He notices that Jasmine, the Sultan, and others are carrying pots full of black sand around the castle, and they will provide no explanation as to why. Finally, it is revealed that Mozenrath has kidnapped members of the castle and replaced them with mamlock decoys! The black sand swallows up its victims and sends them to a netherworld of black sand. (Which just happens to be where you are!) Finally, Aladdin himself is thrown in and it looks as if Mozey has finally couped the magistry and taken over Agrabah. But alas! Aladdin and his friends (especially that pesky Genie!) come blazing back and throw Mozenrath back into his own trap. Doh!
Best line - Mozenrath: "Xerxes, you puncuated my moment beautifully."
Mozenrath kidnaps Aladdin, and demands that the Genie be brought to Dagger Rock for a ransom. Aladdin instinctively knows that Jasmine will rescue him; Mozenrath scoffs at this, sure that the princess is "no doubt crying in some clustered corner of the palace". Well, now I wonder where this is going? I didn't really like this episode; it seemed to be more concerned with go-go girl power, and Mozenrath isn't the most convincing villain Aladdin has to play the chauvinist. It's ... just not really his style. Abis Mal would have been a better choice. Anyway, eventually the "secret" of Dagger Rock is a crystal that Mozenrath plans to trap Genie with. Although Jasmine was the star, again, the Girls-Can-Do-It-Too! implants in the episode didn't deterr Aladdin, the Genie and Mozenrath from being the real players in the plot. On a better note, this is the episode where our sorcerer demonstrates frightening ruthlessness in his dialogue with Aladdin, and where he delivers one of his quirkiest lines: "In a Gomorrah minute!"
Best line - Mozenrath: "In a Gomorrah minute!"
Once again, another brilliant episode involving everything we love about this kid: quirky lines, ruling the Seven Deserts at any cost, and secrets revealed. The sprites have been forced into slave labor working for Mozenrath -- he is using their abilities to dig up the secret of Shamash. One lone sprite escapes and pleads help from Aladdin. Aladdin comes, and the struggle between villain and hero begin. By and by we find out the secret of Shamash is a personal sun that the owner may control. Mozenrath planned to bring other sovereignties to their knees or perish in flames, but Aladdin foils his plans once again. When the sprites are freed, they take Moz's gauntlet and bury it in the sand! ...A secret is revealed: when Mozenrath loses his Gauntlet, the source of his magic, we see the hand that bore it has deteriorated to mere bones. Moz sneers, "Power was served to YOU on a silver platter. I gave my right hand for power... but it's worth it. Worth it to destroy the likes of you!" This disgust that Mozenrath has with Aladdin is an important part of understanding the character's psyche.
Best line - Mozenrath: [to mamluks, losing it] HOW DARE YOU DISAPPEAR WHEN I'M RANTING!!
The best Mozenrath episode -- 'nuff said! Aladdin and Jasmine journey secretly into Mozenrath's kingdom to find and dispatch a rumored secret weapon. When Genie and Co. decide to come on the adventure, they fowl things up by setting off Moz's magic detectors around his land, which alerts him to their presence. This episode was a treasure chest of quirky lines, magic, and Mozenrath's ruthlessness. Our sorceror's "secret weapon" is a wind jackal named Scirocco! It obeys Mozenrath's commands -- including his command to DESTROY! But get this: Scirocco obey's Mozenrath's voice so Aladdin instructs Iago to mimic his tone and tell Scirocco to go back where he came from!
Best line - Mozenrath: [jauntily] "Well, I could rave all night but I've got a city to destroy! Scirocco, -- COME."
Perhaps taking over Agrabah head on will never do the trick? Ever resourceful, Mozenrath hires a mangey thief to kidnap the Sultan. The refreshing thing about this episode is that Mozenrath, technically, didn't "lose" -- it was a win-win situation for him. If the thief got the Sultan, goodie-goodie... If the thief didn't get the Sultan, Mozenrath gets the thief. So, taking some really cool magic charms from Mozenrath's archives, the thief Amin Dimulah sets off. And fails. And Moz keeps the thief. Oh well .. at least we know Mozenrath can come up with a plan to defeat Agrabah and Aladdin never realized who was behind it.
Best line - Mozenrath: "Win win for me, win lose...for YOU!"
Xerxes: "Amin loser!"
In Two to Tangle, another dismal secret is revealed: The Gauntlet has been draining Mozenrath's lifeforce. Mo decides to transfer himself into Aladdin's body, and push Aladdin's spirit into his dying body. Aladdin's pals interrupt this process, resulting in Mo and Al co-habiting the same body! Of course, neither of them are fond of this arrangement. They must find a purifying elixir that will restore Mozenrath's body, and then he'll allow Aladdin to go free. Or will he? Heh heh heh....
Best line - Aladdin: "You're out of your mind, Mozenrath!"
Mozenrath: "Um, no I'm not, but soon I will be out of my body."
Mozenrath needs Genie's magic to create a stone, a jewel that will unleash the sorceror of the book of Khartoum. Eden and Aladdin find out what happened and go after the evil wizard. Eden gets her dumb self caught, and gets her "genie power" drained too. At any rate, together Eden and Genie defeated the sorcerer, but not in time to save Mozenrath: the evil sorceror in the book doublecrosses Moze, taking his power and destroying his kingdom. Rebuild, I say Mozy, rebuild!!
Best line - Mozenrath: [teasing] Genie's got a girlfriend!!
Xerxes: Girlfriend, Girlfriend!! Tee hee hee!
Yet another episode Mozenrath wherein doesn't show up till the end. Not even a cut scene, photo or voice of him till it's ten minutes from over. Why does Disney play with our feelings like this? You could almost infer that Disney is embarrassed over the fanfare created from this villain, and is trying to make him lame. Getting him his own show will be an uphill struggle. Anyway, the Munktar kidnaps the Genie's friends and makes Genie come to the Land of the Black Sand. There's only one villain at the end of a road of black sand, and that's Mozenrath! But, it's Aladdin's show, and "the house always wins": the Munktar, Genie, and all their little do-gooder pals turn the tide on Mo once again. Mozenrath is laying on the floor unconscious for the final blow. Sad story. This was the last episode.
...Or is it?
Best line - Mozenrath: "A little extra for being ruthless!"
