Gun Control Group Warns of New ‘Cop-Killer’ Handgun
At
a press conference Thursday morning, the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun
Violence United with the Million Mom March said it would "sound an
alarm to law enforcement professionals around the county about a new
handgun available to the general public that is capable of firing
bullets through soft police body armor." The gun control group
said it will be joined at the press conference by the National
Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives, the International
Association of Chiefs of Police, the International Brotherhood of
Police Officers, a labor union, and other national law enforcement
groups. The press conference was taking place at the First District
headquarters of the District of Columbia Police Department. According
to the Brady Campaign, the Five-seveN handgun is lightweight and easily
concealable. The FN Herstal website bills the gun as "stopping
power for close combat." It
says the Five-seveN will "defeat the enemy in all close combat
situations in urban areas, jungle conditions, night missions and any
self defense action. Enemy personnel, even wearing body armor, can be
effectively engaged up to 200 meters." According to the Cal's
Sporting Armory website, "the
ammunition has been designed to bridge the gap between the 9mm
ammunition and the 5.56 x 45mm." Nine millimeter is the caliber of
handgun ammunition used by many U.S. law enforcement agencies. The 5.56
x 45mm is the rifle ammunition used by the U.S. military. The
Brady Campaign did not mention that the 5.7 x 28 mm cartridge fired by
the Five-seveN is a rifle-sized cartridge and that virtually all rifle
ammunition will penetrate the most common types of body armor worn by
police.
(Well of course they
wouldn't mention that! It would only defeat the illogical aims of a
group that is desperately trying to propagate fear and hysteria to the
ignorant masses! After all, there's nothing like promoting hysteria,
and mindless fear, to beat down common sense. Particularly, when groups
such as these have so little collective common sense as it is!)
Till death do us part
"We were scared at night, we went to sleep, the smell burning meat,"
Kott says. "We were seeing the smoke and all that. We couldn't sleep.
And then there was Mengele. I guess you heard from Mengele, everybody
heard from him. I got sick one day and I went to the hospital. Mengele
came there to take out one girl from the bottom and I was laying on the
top. He took her out and I got left. It's just luck. Just luck." Chana
Szabo says, "Dr. Mengele, sometimes he used to get drunk or
whatever his mood was, you know, he could say, this block, everybody to
the gas chamber, right? It was all, you know, on his whim people were
killed, murdered."
"There was one time that it was our turn actually and the
truck driver that took us back to the camp he deliberately made the
truck break down so that we're not, we're not going to be there in time
for the selection and that's how he actually saved our lives."
(And it all started with 'gun control' and the disarming of the Jews. Every
act of genocide, anywhere in the world, started with gun control and
the disarming of citizens. This must be a vision of Allen Rock's
Utopia! Remember his statement:, "I came to Ottawa with the belief that
ONLY the police
and military should have guns". Nazi death camps are a PRIME
example of what happens when only the police and military have guns.)
Students beaten by Police in York University protest
Five people were arrested and taken to Toronto
police’s 31st division after participating in the rally, which was held
in protest of the inauguration of United States President George W Bush
and the University’s corporate ties. Police allegedly beat PhD student
Gregory Bird with a baton, while
political science student Nicholas Birtig was taken to hospital due to
beatings he allegedly received from police in a holding room after the
rally on 20 January. Konstantine Kilibarda, an academic researcher from
Cambridge
University, was arrested and detained with four other students and said
he witnessed the alleged beating of Birtig by the police. “They
started hitting him repeatedly and when he lifted his head,
it was just covered in blood. The group was pretty roughed up,” said
Kilibarda. “In detention, I was tackled from behind by an officer
and brought to the ground. I didn’t resist—I just went limp.”
Constable Isabelle Cotton, spokesperson for the police division,
said a struggle in Vari Hall between one student and police led to the
student allegedly attempting to reach for an officer’s handgun.
“They will be processed and charged for trespassing, assault, and
obstruction—those are the charges we are looking at,” said Cotton.
“When you try to steal an officer’s gun, it’s pretty major.”
('He went for my gun', I'm
sure!! The average protesting PHD or PS student from York U. wouldn't
know what in the hell to do with a gun even if was grabbed..
Personally, I think it was the only excuse the cop could use
under the circumstances.. I wonder if anyone 'witnessed' this alleged
'gun grab'? And what happened to the student in the 'holding room'? I
supposed 'he' tripped.. Ahh nothing like attending a university, where
protest will get you beaten by the police.. I'm not anti police by any
means, but they SHOULD
be held to a higher standard of behaviour, simply in light of the power
they hold. Officers found to be abusers of that power should be turfed
out of the force on their asses)
Farmer who shot teen doing doughnuts loses sentence appeal
David Colville, 41, was convicted of manslaughter two years ago in
the July 2001 death of Ted Gabriel, 18, on a rural road near Colville's
Crossfield farm north of Calgary. Colville had chased down Gabriel
after he spun his tires in the
farmer's garden. Colville then discharged his rifle while smashing the
window of the victim's car with the barrel of the gun. During the
trial, Colville testified he chased after Gabriel to make a citizen's
arrest. When Colville caught up with him, the farmer used a rifle from
the
cab of his truck to smash the driver's-side window. The weapon
discharged, killing Gabriel and wounding a passenger.
(I
guess using the 'butt' of the rifle didn't occur to him? Unfortunately,
a teenager with a stupid idea, became the victim of a farmer with a
stupid idea. Reporting a kid "doing doughnuts" is not even a 911 call
unless the kid was thought to be drunk. Compounding the stupidity by
going after the vehicle with a gun, only ended in grief for everyone..
But mostly for the kid and his family. The farmer will eventually be
released, and go home.. The kid does not have that option. Part of the
responsibility of owning a firearm it to be responsible for ALL your actions, even the stupid ones..)
Ga. store turns into site of shootout
ATLANTA -- When two men walked into a popular country store outside
Atlanta, announced a holdup and fired a shot, owners Bobby and Gloria
Doster never hesitated. The pair pulled out their own pistols and
opened fire. The armed suspect and his partner were killed.
The Dosters won't be charged, according to local officials, because
they were acting in self-defense. "I just started shooting," said
Gloria Doster, 56. "I was trying to blow his brains out is what I was
trying to do." One man grabbed Gloria Doster and pushed her toward the
register.
She said the other kept his gun on her 62-year-old husband, who also
goes by the name Shoats. She tried to open the register, but
one of the men told her she wasn't moving fast enough and tried to
shoot her husband. He missed - and his gun jammed. At that
point, Bobby Doster pulled out a .380-caliber handgun and shot one of
the suspects. Gloria Doster then went for a 9 mm pistol she keeps near
the register. "All hell broke loose," she said. "I was trying to shoot
and dial 911 at the same time." Both
suspects took cover behind the store's meat counter as the Dosters
opened fire. Gloria Doster said she doesn't know how many bullets were
fired, or how many times the suspects were hit. Police arrived about
five minutes after receiving Gloria Doster's call; the suspects died a
short time later at a hospital.
(Now,
picture the 'same' scenario happening in Canada! The difference would
be 'who' lives and 'who' dies! The 'unarmed' storekeepers would be
joining the remains of many other unarmed Canadian Storekeepers at the
cemetery. In Canada, if you 'were' to shoot back, you would be facing MORE
charges than the 'real' criminals. You 'may' beat the the charge of
manslaughter with a self defence plea, but you will be beaten down with
a litany of firearms offences and quickly disarmed in order to protect
the 'next' group of criminals that wants to rob and kill you. You might
as well just die and let the robbers have their way, because if you
don't the Canadian 'Just-Us' system will ruin you by ensuring that
every single penny you own, will be required to defend yourself again.
Only 'this' time the robbers will be the government. And one last
consideration. Even 'if' the criminals are caught and charged with your
death, they will be back on the street inside of 10 years. The Canadian
Firearms Centre at that point, won't even 'care' if they have another
gun, because they don't concern themselves with criminals. The Liberal
Government's 2 Billion Dollar gun registry exists only to track, control, and persecute the law abiding. It has absoloutly nothing to do with tracking criminals, OR their firearms.)
There's only one way to protect ourselves – and here's the proof
Today, 96 years ago, London was rocked by a terrorist outrage. Two
Latvian anarchists, who had crossed the Channel after trying to blow up
the president of France, attempted an armed wages robbery in Tottenham.
Foiled at the outset when the intended victims fought back, the
anarchists attempted to shoot their way out. A dramatic pursuit ensued
involving horses and carts, bicycles, cars and a hijacked tram. The
fleeing anarchists fired some 400 shots, leaving a policeman and a
child dead, and some two dozen other casualties, before they were
ultimately brought to bay. They had been chased by an extraordinary
posse of policemen and local people, armed and unarmed. Along the way,
the police (whose gun cupboard had been locked, and the key mislaid)
had borrowed at least four pistols from passers-by in the street, while
other armed citizens joined the chase in person. Today, when we are
inured to the idea of armed robbery and drive-by shootings, the aspect
of the "Tottenham Outrage" that is most likely to shock is the fact
that so many ordinary members of the public at that time should have
been carrying guns in the street. Bombarded with headlines about an
emergent "gun culture" in Britain now, we are apt to forget that the
real novelty is the notion that the general populace in this country
should be disarmed.
(Not only is
the U.K. Populace "disarmed" but now victims in a country that has one
of the highest crime rates in the world. How many times have you
heard the term "Unarmed Victim"? Have you 'ever' heard the term "Armed Victim"? I thought not.. I wonder why that is? During a period when ordinary Englishmen could walk around with a pistol in their pocket, crime was
low.. Now that you can, and will be thrown into the Queens prison for even
possessing a pistol, crime is high! Coincidence? Not likely)
WEAPONS
USED IN CRIME MAY SURPRISE YOU
Today, Saskatchewan MP Garry Breitkreuz, Conservative Firearms Critic,
released new Statistics Canada tables that show the reality of weapons
crime in
Canada
– a view seldom reported in the media and completely ignored by the
government and its soon-to-be two-billion dollar gun registry.
“This
may shock a few Liberals, but in 2003: 71% of murders were committed with
something other than a gun; 86% of robberies reported by police were
committed with something other than a firearm; and 97% of the assaults
with a weapon reported by police were committed using something other than
a gun,” reported Breitkreuz.
“What did the firearms program do to protect the victims of all these
violent crimes? Nothing!”
(What
a coincidence!! The firearms program 'also' did Nothing to protect
victims from Assault, Robbery, and Murder 'with' a firearm as well!)
The buck should stop in cabinet ministers' offices
That
connection between power and accountability, a connection that is
fundamental to parliamentary democracy, seems to escape Sgro. In exit
interviews she spread blame like butter, suggesting that if anything
went wrong in her campaign office it was due to poor judgment exercised
far from the oversight of the minister who was, in any case, suffering
from vertigo.Any schoolteacher turned cynic by too many excuses
would add those to the one about the dog eating the homework. The
bottom line is that in our system, the buck has to stop someplace and
that place is the top.A political buck that wanders aimlessly
should worry taxpayers and voters. In the national capital, scandals
now come and go, usually without leaving behind lasting repercussions
or exacting a meaningful price. Just try to name a minister who
lost their job because of the egregiously mismanaged loans and grants
affair, the billion-dollar gun registry overrun or, to date, the Quebec
sponsorship scandal. Pierre Pettigrew left Human Resources before the
loans mess surfaced and is now Minister of Foreign Affairs, no one ever
accepted responsibility for the rifle horrors and, so far, only bit
players are feeling the sponsorship pain.
(It
would seem, that history has shown that 'whenever' a "buck" lands close
to a Liberal, they quickly use it to try and buy a vote!)
Were YOU Born at Foreign Canadian a military base, to Canadian Parents?
SURPRIZE!!! YOU are not a Canadian. According to Our Government
You are not going to believe this. At first I didn't, but I do now: Are
you aware that someone born in a hospital on a Canadian military base
overseas to Canadian parents in the Armed Forces is not automatically a
Canadian citizen? This, despite having a Canadian birth certificate and
social insurance number (SIN)? Krista Bruton-Anderson is such a case.
(Amazing Eh? Perhaps you should apply to get back all the taxes you paid, while you 'thought' you were a real Canadian!)
MPs get message over gay unions
MPs are expected to vote on legislation
promised by Prime Minister Paul Martin, to legalize gay marriage,
shortly after Parliament resumes Jan. 31.
Martin has promised a free vote, leaving MPs in his divided minority Liberal caucus to vote as they wish.
Despite earlier confusion, Martin has said overwhelming opposition to the legislation would not trigger an election.
Barnes compared the feedback she's had to that from the early
stages of federal gun-control legislation, "when people still didn't
understand it."
Oxford Conservative MP Dave MacKenzie, who opposes the Liberal
plan, said he's received a few letters supporting the legislation, one
from the United Church.
But like Barnes, he said his office has had about 25 calls and
25 e-mails a day, "90 per cent of them in favour of the traditional
form of marriage."
But one activist in London's gay community said the numbers don't reflect a true understanding of marriage.
"People define marriage by what their parents had. I'd like to
know how many of those 90 per cent are from single-family homes or
abusive homes. Is that what marriage is?" Ben Benedict asked.
(Barnes is accurate as far as the gun registry is concerned. NOW
people understand fully, that it's a complete waste of money, and
nothing but 'feel good' legislation. As for Traditional Marriage, it
should be just that.. Marriage is 'traditionally' a religious concept,
not a civil concept. As a matter of fact, the very term "Civil
Marriage" is an oxymoron as far as I'm concerned. I have no objection
to 'civil unions' between two people of any lifestyle. But,
Marriage itself is a religious concept, whether the man and woman being
married are religious or not, marriage should remain the realm of a man
and a woman. The government has no right to decree that ANYONE'S rights
are being denied by disallowing the religious concept of 'marriage', to
be applied to those individuals that virtually EVERY religion says the
concept of Marriage does not apply. The government 'has' the right and
so does everyone else to be joined in a 'legal' civil union. I think
what has to happen, is the division of Marriage, and civil union. If
you are legally joined as a man and woman
in a religious environment, or ceremony, then THAT should be a
'traditional' Marriage. A City Hall 'wedding' should be a legal civil
union. And, I'm just as sure, that what will happen, IS as what happens
with any liberal foot in the door concept. Eventually everybody will be
able to join with any thing, creature, or person, least their 'rights'
be trampled on, but MARRIAGE is MILLENNIA OLD TRADITION between a A MAN and a WOMAN
and Liberals OR THEIR APPOINTED JUDGES, DON'T HAVE THE RIGHT to usurp
millennia of HUMAN, RELIGIOUS TRADITIONS, whether you personally
believe in religious concepts or not. This is just MY personal opinion if you don't agree with it tough.. Like I said it's MY
personal opinion.. But, unfortunately for the liberals, it 'also' seems
to be the opinion of the VAST majority of voting Canadians..)
PM threatens election over same sex marriage
Prime Minister Paul Martin says the issue of same-sex marriage is so
important to him, he'd be willing to call an election -- if he has to.
Martin's headline-making remarks came as he spoke in French with reporters in Beijing covering his trade trip to China.
"It's not my intention to go into an election. We want to govern,"
said Martin who ended up with a minority in Parliament after last
June's federal election.
"Am I ready to go into an election to uphold the charter of rights
against those who would attack it? The answer is certainly yes."
Martin was responding to remarks from Conservative Leader Stephen
Hamper
(sic) who said the Liberal government's move to extend marriage to
include gay and lesbian couples could, one day, evolve one day into
support for polygamy. Hamper
(sic) has said he fears it's a slippery slope.
(First of all, you would think that the reporter for CTV. would actually 'know' the name of the leader of the opposition wouldn't you? Second of all: BRING IT ON!!!
Israel to kill in U.S., allied nations
Israel is embarking upon a more aggressive approach to the war on
terror that will include staging targeted killings in the United States
and other friendly countries, former Israeli intelligence officials
told United Press International. Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon
has forbidden the practice until now, these sources said, speaking on
condition of anonymity. The Israeli statements were confirmed by more
than a half dozen former and currently serving U.S. foreign policy and
intelligence officials in interviews with United Press International.
World Israel is embarking upon a more aggressive approach to the war on
terror that will include staging targetedkillings in the United States
and other friendly countries, former Israeli intelligence officials
told United Press International. Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon
has forbidden the practice until now, these sources said, speaking on
condition of anonymity. The Israeli statements were confirmed by more
than a half dozen former and currently serving U.S. foreign policy and
intelligence officials in interviews with United Press International.
But an official at the Israeli Embassy in Washington told UPI: "That is
rubbish. It is completely untrue. Israel and the United States have
such a close and co-operative intelligence relationship, especially in
the field of counter-terrorism, that the assertion is ludicrous." With
the appointment of Meir Dagan, the new director of Israel's Mossad
secret intelligence service, Sharon is preparing "a huge budget"
increase for the spy agency as part of "a tougher stance in fighting
global jihad (or holy war)," one Israeli official said. Since Sharon
became Israeli prime minister, Tel Aviv has mainly limited its practice
of targeted killings to the West Bank and Gaza because "no one wanted
such operations on their territory," a former Israeli intelligence
official said. Another former Israeli government official said that
under Sharon, "diplomatic constraints have prevented the Mossad from
carrying out 'preventive operations' (targeted killings) on the soil of
friendly countries until now." He said Sharon is "reversing that
policy, even if it risks complications to Israel's bilateral
relations." A former Israeli military intelligence source agreed: "What
Sharon wants is a much more extensive and tough approach to global
terrorism, and this includes greater operational maneuverability."Does
this mean assassinations on the soil of allies? "It does," he said. But
the complications posed by Israel's new policy are real. "Israel does
not have a good record at doing this sort of thing," said former CIA
counter-terrorism official Larry Johnson. Phil Stoddard, former
director of the Middle East Institute, cited a botched plot to kill Ali
Hassan Salemeh, the mastermind of the 1972 Munich Olympics massacre.
The 1974 attempt severely embarrassed Mossad when the Israeli hit team
mistakenly assassinated a Moroccan waiter in Lillehammer, Norway.
(Of
course, they probably apologized to the Waiters wife and children, and
then left the country using their usual 'Canadian Passports'. What's
the new motto here? "See a Jew with a gun, dial 911".. I'm sure these
assassinations happen all the time, and are routinely covered up by
governments. After all, the government 'can' legally kill you. In
Canada, the Supreme court has basically said the government can do
anything it wants, providing it passes a law saying 'that particular
crime' was their intention for passing the law in the first place. This
would apply to assassinations as well as stealing pension money from
disabled veterans as they have already done, by passing a law to do
just that! )
Michael Moore's Bodyguard Arrested on Airport Gun Charge
Police took Patrick Burke, who says Moore employs him, into custody
after he declared he was carrying a firearm at a ticket counter. Burke
is licensed to carry a firearm in Florida and California, but not in
New York. Burke was taken to Queens central booking and could
potentially be charged with a felony for the incident.
Moore's
2003 Oscar-winning film "Bowling for Columbine" criticizes what Moore
calls America's "culture of fear" and its obsession with guns.
(It
would seem that Moore live in a "Culture of fear" and needs a body
guard, but will gladly make millions trying to push HIS agenda that
says YOU don't need personal protection.. Hell, if someone were to
shoot him , all that would leak out is 'fat', 'stupidity', and of
course, a big blob of hypocrisy.. )
Border agents doze at posts, traveller says
"Sorry to wake you - just crossing the border." That may have been
Stephen Holtzman's gentle plea to a border guard he chose to wake up
one Saturday evening to declare himself to customs. A frequent
traveller to Plattsburgh, N.Y., the Montrealer is worried about the
ease with which smugglers can bring guns, drugs and people into the
country just by speeding past border controls, big and small. A report
by customs officers at Lacolle this week revealed it's been happening
at one of Quebec's largest crossings at the rate of 18 times in less
than a month. Holtzman was not surprised. "Here I am at the Canadian
border, we're talking 7:30 p.m., and the guy's sleeping," he said. "I
can't blame him, though, he was all alone on a 24-hour shift." But many
do blame the customs agents' boss, the Canadian Border Services Agency,
and say it's time it started properly protecting Canada's borders. "In
our view, the next logical move is to change the jurisdictions
and budgets and give customs officers the ability to take these cars in
pursuit," said Ron Moran, national president of the Customs Excise
Union.
The RCMP has jurisdiction beyond border posts, but has stopped
regular patrols. "Individuals and goods are getting into the country,
and we don't have a clue who they are," Moran said. Anne McLellan, the
minister responsible for public security, will be
discussing border security with the CBSA, said Alex Swann, her director
of communications. "Then we'll see what can be done," Swann said. "To
be sure, the union has been stressing the need for more personnel at
border crossings."
McLellan might also want to consult with her U.S. counterparts.
Anyone attempting to run the border into the United States is quickly
intercepted, said Customs and Border Protection spokesperson Mario
Villarreal.
"We have responsibility not only at ports of entry but between the
ports," Villarreal said, adding there are often secondary checkpoints
beyond the border. "So, when someone tries to run the port the border
patrol can respond immediately."
Holtzman has seen it live. While waiting to cross into New York, he
saw someone in a Jeep try to crash the border. Within 20 seconds,
officers were on him and a helicopter circled overhead.
"The U.S. learned something from 9/11, but Canada sure hasn't,"
Holtzman said.
(Our
border is a joke! From unarmed Personnel, to college kids on the front
lines of our security perimeter. You want in? just run the border. The
guard will call 911 and if a police officer has the time, they will try
and intercept the intruder. That is of course, if they have any idea at
all when he or she went.. This, is the liberal security system. Rule
#1: Don't look dangerous, you will only frighten people. Rule #2: If
faced with a life threatening situation, having border personnel draw a
firearm, will only increase the level of violence. Rule #3: When
applying for bereavement leave to attend the funeral of a co-worker,
you are required to give 30 days advance notice)
Experts blast governments' inaction on cancer
A high-profile coalition of health groups is launching a blistering
ad campaign today in the hope of embarrassing the federal and
provincial governments into implementing and funding a national cancer
strategy.
The Canadian Strategy for Cancer Control, a blueprint for preventing
and treating cancer in a uniform manner across the country, was
developed by 700 health experts and presented for adoption in 2002, but
has not yet been acted upon by government.
"Today, 200,000 deaths from cancer later, not one of its
recommendations has been acted on," reads the text of the ad, which
appears in today's edition of The Globe and Mail and La Presse.
(People are dying by the THOUSANDS
every year, and the Liberals, thanks to Ontario voters, have wasted
more than a BILLION DOLLARS on useless, legislation such as the
firearms act. How many people do you know of that have been shot by a
legal firearms owner? How many people do you know of, that have, or
are, dying of cancer? Where do YOU think the money should have been
spent? Another election should be coming up fairly soon. This is a good
question to ask yourselves before voting, and 'again' putting the stamp
of approval on liberal lunacy!)
Police Execs Speakout About Terrorism, Gun Control, Drugs
The National Association of Chiefs of Police released its 17th
Annual Survey of Police Chiefs and Sheriffs and some of the survey
findings are surprising and compelling.
The survey -- released in the January 2005 issue of
Police Times Magazine -- had some surprising results on various topics including terrorism, gun control, homeland security, and drug enforcement.
NACOP asserts that the public perception of how police view certain
issues is based on media coverage, which is not necessarily accurate.
When police chiefs and sheriffs are allowed to respond to poll
questions anonymously, the politics may be removed from their answers.
Gun Control: With regard to private citizens owning firearms for
sport or self-defense, 93.6 percent of the respondents supported
civilian gun-ownership rights. Ninety-six percent of the police chiefs
and sheriffs believe criminals obtain firearms from illegal sources and
92.2 percent revealed they hadn't arrested anyone for violation of the
so-called "waiting period" laws. When asked if citizens
concealed-weapons permits would reduce violent crime, 63.1 percent said
yes.
(This is the U.S.A. of course.. Canada's
Police associations 'have' no mind of their own. They exists only to
lobby the government for more power. The fact they they 'publicly'
support the ridiculous assortment, and mishmash of gun laws aimed
squarely at the law abiding, and not the criminal, only says they
'they' feel the average Canadian is either too stupid, or too violent
to have access to firearms. Needless to say, they support the arming of
many Police officers, who consider their issued firearm as uniform
decoration, only to be pulled out during 'qualification' times. Or,
when blowing a hole in the station wall practising their quick draw in
front of a mirror as happened in Hamilton Ontario last year! The fact
that a law abiding, trained hand gun shooter that fires thousands of
rounds a year is deemed a 'public safety risk', and furthermore, could
be charged for protecting his or her own life. Is only made more
absurd, by the fact that the police officer doing the 'charging' is in
all probability barely competent with the issued 'decoration'
currently, and legally hanging on his or her hip )
Gang members deported from U.S. take deadly culture to their home countries
The National Youth Gang Center estimates that
the United States has 750,000 gang members. California has roughly
365,000 members, with 100,000 in Los Angeles County. San Diego County
has 7,500.
Every state in the nation now reports being plagued by gangs.
"We're everywhere," boasted a Mara Salvatrucha
13, or MS 13, gang member in Los Angeles. "Honduras, Salvador,
Guatemala, Mexico, L.A., Washington, New York, Denver. There's a few in
Missouri. There's homies in Canada, too.
"Wherever we go, we recruit more people. There's no way they can stop us. We're going to keep on multiplying."
(It would seem, that 'homies
in Canada' are proliferating. As long as the downtown store clerk, gas
bar attendant, business man making a bank deposit, continues to be
'government legislated fodder' by being denied the RIGHT
to carry the tools needed for personal defence against these "homies",
we can ALL expect the gangs to flourish un controlled. Bleeding heart
liberal judges and politicians are not helping matters one bit.)
4,000 shot in Britain in a year
The data show that 518 people needed to be
detained in hospital after being shot and wounded in the 12-month
period from 2002-03. More than one-third (187) were seriously injured
by handguns while 41 were wounded with shotguns. In total, 3,995 people
were shot, of whom about half (2,187) had minor wounds caused by air
guns.
The figures will be of great concern to the government, which
has tried to convince the public it is winning the battle on gun crime.
The 2003-04 figures are also expected to see the trend continue with
even more injuries being caused by guns. Two years ago a guns amnesty was hailed a success by the
government after more than 17,000 firearms and 450,000 rounds of
ammunition were handed in to police stations across the country. There
have also been recent high-profile operations to crack down on guns in
inner cities.
(Yup.
17,000 firearms, and 450,000 rounds handed in by law abiding owners
under threat of fines and imprisonment. It's very obvious 'now' that
not many 'criminals' handed in guns or ammunition, and instead, decided
to take advantage of the edge government has given them to remain safe
while committing their crimes against the now largely unarmed citizenry
of the U.K. The solution to this, by the morons in power will no doubt
be 'more' gun laws aimed squarely at the law abiding)
"Sgro You Eh!"
Beleaguered Immigration Minister Judy Sgro will resign from cabinet
Friday, kicking off a mini-shuffle that will see her replaced by Human
Resources Minister Joe Volpe. Her departure came amid reports that she
promised asylum to a
Toronto man after he worked on her re-election campaign last June. She
was named to cabinet just over a year ago and is the first of
Prime Minister Paul Martin's ministers to step down under a cloud. Sgro
has been struggling in her job for weeks amid allegations she
gave priority immigration treatment to a Romanian stripper after the
woman worked on Sgro's campaign. She got into more hot water over a
program which fast-tracked work
visas for other strippers. The program was quickly cancelled. The
allegations against Sgro are under investigation by the federal ethics
commissioner.
(Would
this be the 'Liberal' Federal ethic commissioner? A 'true' oxymoron..
This woman offered the man asylum for free pizzas for christ sake.. Is
there no level to which a liberal will not stoop to further their own

Newfoundland boy's case highlights shortage of MRIs
A cancer patient volunteers his spot on an MRI scan, another offers
to pay $1,500 and two others want to purchase round-trip flights. All
of these offers and others have come from strangers who were touched by
the story of Ryan Oldford, a four-year-old Newfoundland boy who has
lost one kidney to cancer and faces a 2½-year wait for a
magnetic
resonance imaging scan. Stories such as Ryan's are fuelling public
demand for MRI services and
sparking a boom in the private-clinic business. On 36 private scanners
across the country, patients can pay to have speedy access to MRIs, CT
scanners, PET scanners or the combination of a CT/PET scanner. Normand
Laberge, chief executive officer of the Canadian Association of
Radiologists, whose group has offered to help Ryan navigate the
health-care system, said the case is a "good example of what is wrong
in the system."
(AND, with people
dying from lack of diagnostic equipment, its always good to remember
the Liberals spent MORE THAN ONE BILLION DOLLARS , the cost of
installing and manning a MRI machine in virtually EVERY hospital in
Canada, on a duck gun registration scheme to keep us all save from law
abiding hunters, collectors and target shooters. But is does make you
feel better right? Except of course, if your one of the hundreds of
thousands dying of Cancer..)
Pass the shotgun shells
Town officials plan to go ahead with a goose hunt Saturday over the protests of animal-rights groups and some worried residents.
"Not only do we think it’s cruel, it’s going to be
ineffective," said Stephanie Boyles, a wildlife biologist for People
for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, the group famous for its "Meat is
Murder" campaign and protests against fur.
"I know that as soon as they kill some, more are going to take their place," she said.
Gaggles of Canada and gray geese have taken over this
town of about 2,300 people recently, snapping at residents on the
grocery store parking lot and covering parks and other public spots
with droppings.
About 300 birds have claimed the town as home, drawn by the local salt bogs.
"They’re confident enough around humans to the point
that they’ve become aggressive," the mayor said. "Children have been
attacked."
One woman told police she had to beat four or five geese away with a broom after they menaced her grandson.
Amphitheater seats near the Well Fields area, a salt bog and wildlife sanctuary, rotted from all the droppings, the mayor said.
Officials settled on a town-sponsored goose hunt –
the first in Southwest Virginia – spread over the next five Saturdays
as a way to get the flock under control. Ten hunters will get 10 shots
each in spots around the Well Fields in a plan recommended by state and
federal game experts, Campbell said.
(A
drop of over 400 thousand migratory game bird permits in Canada has
certainly added to this problem.. Perhaps when peta members are
'actually' up to their ears in goose shit they will back off? Nah,
their just not smart enough.. Lets all chip in and buy them a snorkel)
Ont. doctor urges colleagues to drop Liberal patients
GODERICH, ONT. - A doctor in Ontario is urging his colleagues to drop
provincial Liberal legislators and their families as their patients to
spur the government into dealing with the growing doctor shortage. Ken
Milne, a doctor in Goderich, Ont., said doctors across the province
should replace their Liberal patients with people who have no family
physician. "If [Premier] Dalton McGuinty had to come home and have his wife
chew him out because they were eight hours in an emergency department
because they had a cold and didn't have a family doctor, then maybe
something would get done," said Milne. "The government needs to respond in some way."
(This doctor is probably right!
Politicians live in a different world from you and I. If this different
world reflected some of the problems ordinary Canadians had to endure,
change would not be long in coming.)
Maryland Gets High Ratings For Firearms Regulations
Maryland has received a top grade from the nation's top gun control groups for the way it regulates firearms.
The rating from the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence is based on
the state's regulation of the sale and possession of guns for kids and
laws shielding families from gun violence Only five other states
-- California, Connecticut, Hawaii, New Jerrsey and Massachusetts --
received ratings in the A-range. Thirty-one states were given Ds and Fs.
(The
Brady Bunch figured they had better pump a little sunshine up
Maryland's ass after their police force exposed the much touted "Ballistics Fingerprinting" as 'Junk Science' and recommended scrapping the program. Imagine that!! "Top Ratings" for doing something that TWO very important published research
papers said: they could find no gun control law ever passed, that made
any difference in lowering the crime rate. No doubt, the 31 states that
were given D's and Fs were the very same states that have seen a
drastic drop in violent crime, because they passed laws that allowed
the law abiding to carry a concealed firearm. From this, you can
plainly see that the gun control groups, want to control people and
their guns, far more than they want to control crime! And it IS 'ALL' about 'Power, and Control' )
THOUSANDS See The Sham, and Fail to Show up for Liberal Immigrant Vote Gathering Photo Op
Sunday I
asked why only about 600 people -- out of a government-expected 15,000
-- showed up at the Civic Centre for the naational ceremony honouring
the victims of the killer tsunami. Below,
representing the overwhelming sentiment of the response, excerpts from
some of the massive number of phone calls and e-mails.
Gord
Stamp, Edmonton. "My wife is Indonesian. She is not happy with the
Liberal government response. The reality is that Canada is impotent.
Liberals have destroyed our ability to have an impact on the world.
When tragedies occur, we are almost non-existent. And Paul Martin and
his holier-than-thou sidekick Clarkson decide to hold a photo op
showing endorsement for Liberals actions? I wouldn't have attended if
it were held across the street from me."
Bruce
Mills, Dundas, Ont. "The Canadian public seems to have grasped the
difference between genuine compassion and a grandstanding,
self-aggrandizing photo op. Canadians are fed up with the Liberals
telling them what to do."
Becky. "Finally Canadians are waking up and bread and circuses are no longer going to get the Liberals off the hook."
(And
on and on it goes. Paul Martins 'aren't liberals great - pat us on
the back' grandstanding photo op, 'was' a pathetic attempt to gather
immigrant votes for his failing party. The visit to a local school and
crawling around the floor with the kids 'trying' to look interested was
incredibly opportunistic. If the cameras hadn't been there, he wouldn't
have been there either! What the public actually saw, was a 'visual' liberal
lie)
Why Liberals
Love Gun Control
Gun control laws still disproportionately regulate the
African-American community, but now our benign liberal leaders
want to spread the oppression about a bit more fairly. But the
goal is the same. Gun control does nothing but oppress a
population, deny them basic rights, make them subservient to the
government, and prevent them from changing their collective
conditions at the time of their choosing, rather than at the
sanction of the State. Liberals do not want you making your own
decisions anymore than they did the slaves. That is their job.
How can they possibly restructure society so a Republican is
never elected President again if people are running around not
doing what they are told? Liberals love gun control for the
simple fact that it directly impacts the most independent, self
reliant, and free thinking of us as demonstrated by our refusal
to proxy our personal protection out to an unaccountable
government. The goal of gun control is not to actually control guns and make
the world a safer place, but to control people. It is not as
important for you can pass a criminal background check so much
as it is that you feel obligated to ask the state for permission
to buy a gun. Liberals know gun control laws will not stop
criminals, but it will erode the sense of independence and self
reliance of regular people until they feel that they can do
nothing that does not meet government approval.
(And
'Canadian' Liberals prove all of this by their incomprehensible
'clinging' to their failed firearms act, and registry. Virtually
'every' time the media mentions the registry, it's accompanied by the
word "boondoggle". The failure of this farce, is obvious to all, but
the liberal party and their dogged pursuit of social engineering!)
Shot In The Dark
The most pre-eminent scientific group in America has
produced a definitive analysis of our decades-long experience with gun
control and shattered what has become an article of faith among
proponents.
The 328-page report by the National Academy of Sciences is based on
253 journal articles, 99 books, 43 government publications, a survey of
80 gun-control laws and some of its own independent study.
It could find no evidence to support the conclusion that government
restrictions on firearms reduces gun crime, gun violence and gun
accidents. In October 2003, a task force of scientists appointed
by the Centers for Disease Control conducted a sweeping study of the
nation's gun-control laws. Included in the review were mandatory
waiting periods and bans on certain weapons. All told, 51 published
studies about the effectiveness of eight types of gun-control laws were
analyzed.
In each case, the task force found "insufficient evidence to
determine effectiveness." In other words, the scientists found no proof
gun-control reduces violence. So what is reducing the crime rate?
Increased prosecution for the
use of guns in criminal acts, for starters. The BJS study noted that
about 40% of state inmates and 56% of federal inmates were given
additional time because of their firearm use. Deterrence is another
factor. Glen Otero of the Claremont Institute
reports that where U.S. counties have enacted conceal-carry laws,
murder rates fell by 8%, rape by 5% and aggravated assault by 7%, with
the biggest declines in urban counties.
(There are now TWO definitive studies that show gun control as 'junk science' with NO
effect on the criminal use of firearms. But in all fairness, it IS very
difficult for a liberal to actually hear and understand this,
considering their heads are stuck that far up their collective asses.
Now, because of this what seems to be a 'global' liberal physical
impairment, these reports truly are a 'shot in the dark')
Report on Ballistic Imaging Shatters Gun
Tracking Myths
BELLEVUE, Wash., Jan. 11 /U.S. Newswire/ -- A report by the
Maryland State Police that recommends repeal of a law requiring
collection of ballistic imaging information "shatters one of the
favorite myths of gun control extremists," the Citizens Committee for
the Right to Keep and Bear Arms (CCRKBA) said today.
In its progress report on the Integrated Ballistics Identification
System (IBIS), the Maryland State Police Forensic Sciences Division
recommends that "this program be suspended, a repeal of the collection
of cartridge cases from current law be enacted and the Laboratory
Technicians associated with the program be transferred to the DNA
database unit." So far, Maryland has spent $2.5 million over the past
four years, with nothing to show for it. The report admitted, "Guns
found to be used in the commission of crime...are not the ones being
entered into" the system.
(This
should quell the idiots in this country that think ballistics imagine
is based on any prolonged 'useful' science. Anyone with a 'pointy'
object can render the data for 'any' particular gun useless..)
Peel Crime Stoppers - News Release
MISSISSAUGA, ON, Jan. 10 /CNW/ - The Peel Regional Police Central
Robbery Bureau and Peel Crime Stoppers are seeking the public's
assistance in solving a daring day-time armed robbery of a jewellery
store in Mississauga. On Thursday, December 23rd at approximately 10:30
a.m. the Diamond Connection store located in the Dixie Outlet Mall had
just opened for business. At this time two culprits entered the store
with one brandishing a handgun. The armed thug grabbed the terrified
victim and placed the barrel of the gun against the victim's forehead,
while his cowardly accomplice rummaged through display cases placing
stolen diamond pendants and earrings into a black bag he was carrying.
Both bandits then fled through the south doors of the mall and into the
backseat of an awaiting vehicle.
("Brandishing a handgun"? How can this be? Handguns have been registered, and therfore made harmless(according to the liberals),
since 1934. Did the Liberals not tell us that we are much safer, now
that they have spent more than a billion dollars controlling all those
duck hunters among us ? Did they lie to us simply to build 'another'
burocratic monument to Liberal Social engineering? Will Toronto, in
spite of being shafted time and time again, vote liberal in the future?
YES to all of the above)
'We're dealing with sick individuals'
As an icy dawn broke over Toronto one morning this week, Daniel
Facchini and partner Nick Palotta had already been working for hours --
when you're fending off the forces of chaos and disorder, you need to
be out there early. Radios crackling, they cruised the streets, looking
to make a bust.
At 9 a.m., Mr. Palotta pulled up to a building on Sorauren Avenue --
his flinty eye had spotted something out of place. He called in Mr.
Facchini for backup, then pulled on a set of rubber gloves: The garbage
police were going in.
Unbeknownst to the average citizen, a small, highly specialized
force of trash inspectors patrols the streets of Canada's largest city,
looking for infractions that range from putting out garbage on the
wrong day (the trash equivalent of jaywalking) to illegal dumping,
which can be seen as the Murder One of garbage.
(Bag em Danno!)
Gun Control, By Any Means Necessary
San Francisco's Board of Supervisors is up to its old
tricks again, trying to control violent crime by penalizing law-abiding
citizens. In their infinite wisdom, the supervisors
want to ban
private citizens from owning handguns, while the very criminals they
seek to undermine are free to purchase them on the black market.
Led by Chris Daly and supported by
outgoing board president Matt Gonzalez and fellow supervisors Tom
Ammiano, Bevan Dufty and Michela Alioto-Pier, the proposal is a
disaster in the making. Nevertheless, they plan to put the misguided
measure on the ballot in November, and, considering San Franciscans'
propensity for supporting feel-good laws with little thought for the
long-term consequences, it could very well pass.
(If Americans have the
"constitutional right" to bear arms, why does this "right" only apply
to 'some' states? A constitutional right, is a right for everyone in
the country or it's no right at all, it becomes a 'privilege'. Is this
part of their famous document now to be called a constitutional
"privilege" until the 'current' government says it's not?)
911 Is a Joke... or Is It? Let's Find Out
A major
new report
by National Academies of Science concludes that there is not enough
empirical data to determine whether gun control enhances public safety,
or whether gun ownership deters crime. The report calls for further
data-gathering on firearms injuries. We suggest that gathering a type
of related data is equally critical: how often 911 calls result in the
interruption of a crime.
The
issue is central to the gun debate. The anti-gun lobbies, while
sometimes conceding that people can be allowed to have sporting guns,
vehemently opposes gun ownership for personal protection. The lobbies
insist that crime victims should rely on 911 instead. For a disarmed
victim, the police response to 911 can literally be a matter of life or
death. If the data show that 911 won't save your life when you're
attacked by a criminal, then it would be difficult for government to
claim the moral authority to disarm victims.
(It's
just as big a joke in Canada, as it is in the U.S. The major difference
here, is if the government was 'forced' to "gather data" on this
subject, they would no doubt make the results a cabinet secret just as
they have done with every single other report that proved the
government was wrong, and citizens were dying of 'Liberal flawed
thinking'. When your life or the life of anyone is in danger, there
should be no repercussions to 'justly'
defending that life. If someone is approaching you with a weapon, any
weapon, with the intent to do you harm, I doubt if your cell phone and
speed dial will scare him away. So, you might as well skip 911, save
some time, and make your call direct to the funeral home. )
Cop charged after pistol stolen
A Calgary police officer has been charged with unsafe storage and
handling of his service pistol after it was stolen from his vehicle in
Edmonton last year. Thirty-eight-year-old Detective Gerard Brand was at
the Edmonton Folk Festival last July when his gun and badge were
stolen. Calgary's deputy police chief Murray Stooke says charges were
laid on a recommendation from Crown prosecutors in Edmonton. Police say
Brand, a 13-year veteran of the force, is on paid leave while his case
works its way through the courts.
(This
will slowly grind it's way through the police officer 'special' justice
system, where no doubt he will receive a notice of reprimand in his
file.. )
Ex-patrolman planted drugs. Ex-chief lied about machine gun.
Two
former Panther Valley police officers
pleaded guilty to federal charges Tuesday — one to conspiring to plant
drugs during raids on two brothers' homes and another to lying federal
authorities about selling a machine gun to another officer. Judge A.
Richard Caputo accepted the pleas from former Coaldale
Patrolman Michael Weaver and former Lansford Police Chief Joseph
Stawiarski, but deferred sentencing them. Assistant U.S. Attorney
Gordon Zubrod said the pleas will help close a sad chapter for area law
enforcement. Zubrod said Weaver is facing 33 to 41 months in prison. He
said Stawiarski is facing probation to six months in prison, unless
a judge finds that he was trafficking guns. In that case, which Zubrod
believes is unlikely, Stawiarski is facing 18 to 24 months in prison.
Caputo reminded both men that they would have to serve the entire
length of a prison sentence. ''There is no parole in the federal
system,'' he said.
(Now
if these cops were Canadian cops, they would be looking at perhaps 6
months house arrest of which only 2/3 would have to be served in front
of their T.V. with a beer.. Canada seems to have a different justice
system for police crime..)
Child discovers gun in elementary school bathroom
A young girl found a loaded .38-caliber revolver in the bathroom of an
Evanston elementary school Tuesday, police said Thursday.
No students or teachers were hurt because of the gun, which was not
fired. The girl, a student at Kingsley School, 2300 Green Bay Rd.,
entered
a first-floor bathroom at about 11:30 a.m. Tuesday and found the gun in
a plastic grocery bag on the floor of a stall, said Deputy Chief Joe
Bellino of Evanston Police Department.
The girl brought the gun -- a .38-caliber, five-shot, fully-loaded
revolver -- to her teacher, Bellino said. The teacher notified school
district officials and police recovered the gun. "This is a very rare
incident," Bellino said. "This is definitely not an incident that
usually happens in a K-5 school."
(This
has happened a couple of times in the past.. Both times the firearm had
been left by a police officer visiting the school. I wonder how long it
will take for them to find out which cop has his or her gun missing
'this' time?)
S.A. Gun Law a Dud
Your editorial, Licensed guns (January 4), confirms the concerns of the
South African Gun Owners Association (Saga) with regard to the Firearms
Control Act. Besides the cost of implementing the act versus the potential benefit
it may produce, tightening the screws on licensed firearm owners will
have little or no effect on criminals .
Saga is the first to concede that there are irresponsible firearm
owners, who should be prosecuted . But the reality is most licensed
firearm owners are responsible and do not commit crimes with their
firearms. The focus of the act is on increasing control on licensed
firearms and
avoids almost totally the illegal use of firearms by criminals. In the
six months since the implementation of the act, the Central
Firearms Registry and the relevant sector education and training
authority have been unable (or unwilling) to process applications for
competency certificates, accreditation or licences. Any law is
meaningless unless it is constitutional, enforceable and,
most importantly, understandable. This legislation is neither
constitutional, simple, nor capable of enforcement and comprehension by
the police officers tasked with its administration. Martin Hood
Spokesperson, South African Gun Owners Association

Gun licence chaos looms, say owners
Registering of guns seen as impossibility

S. Africa: Following the "highly successful" Canadian Plan..
Firearms dealers say that there is no way the government can hope to
re-register the millions of legal guns in the country in the four years
from January 1 that it has given itself. Adding to the load will be the
thousands of new gun licence
applications that will be made to the Central Firearms Registry this
year. Since Monday, the 2.8-million firearm owners across the country
could apply to renew licences for their 4.5-million firearms. The
Firearms Control Act, implemented in July, makes it compulsory for
applicants to have a training test to gain a proficiency certificate
before applying for a competency certificate. People must have a
competency certificate before they may apply for a licence. According
to gun dealers, only one firearm licence has been issued in the past
six months. Of concern is that gun owners who do not have their
licences renewed
would be in possession of illegal firearms - a criminal offence. Andrew
Soutar, chairman of the South African Firearm Dealers Association, said
that many gun dealers had gone into liquidation. The Central Firearms
Registry had processed 69 000 licence applications
a year until March last year under the old laws, which entailed less
complicated procedures, he said. At this rate, he calculated that it
would take about 65 years to renew licences.
(With only 'one' licence issued in 6 months, you
can see exactly where they are headed with this. The overall plan
is to eradicate firearms from the law abiding population, drive all
sales underground where the criminals can make HUGE profits, and
subsequently reduce the population. The aftermath will make S. Africa
the crime and murder capitol of the entire world. Nice work
Wendy, I'm sure they are going to really appreciate all your help..Down
at the funeral home!)
New American Passports Will Broadcast Personal Data
"The technology allows data on the chip to be read remotely using radio
frequency identification or RFID.
That means the passport does not have to be opened or even come in
contact with a scanning device. Its contents can be read remotely --
some estimates claim as far away as 30 feet -- without the passport
holder knowing anything about it.
Privacy advocates and the American Civil Liberties Union have sharply
criticized the proposed system, saying it effectively creates `a global
infrastructure of surveillance.`
`The U.S.-backed standard means that all the information on American
passports can be read by anyone with an RFID reader, whether they are
an identity thief, a terrorist trying to spot the Americans in a room
or a government agent looking to vacuum up the identities of everyone
at a political rally, gun show or mosque.
(Gee
Why don't they just inject a pellet into every American ass, and track
those 'freedom loving' people just like the family dog? I'm surprised
Canada's Liberals have not come up with this idea? Or maybe they
already have? Watch for spurious signals, beeps, and odd numbers being
picked up the next time you check out your groceries at the
supermarket. Beeeep... Ooooo 667!!! Damn.. Missed it by

Seals have a Canadian Club
When you are in the business of killing baby seals, it takes a strange
turn of mind to think of yourself as a victim. Yet this is how Canada's
seal-pup hunters have always wanted us to see them -- as the victims of
"propaganda," meddlesome "outsiders," unfair trade restrictions and
other forces arrayed against the noble sealer. And now, as they prepare
the boats, guns and clubs for another intrepid assault on the nurseries
of the North Atlantic, they ask once again for our sympathy. In six
weeks' time they would learn to fend for themselves. Instead,
the men move in, welcoming the newborns into the world with clubs,
hakapiks and hooks. With all the manhood -- and less skill -- that it
would take to execute tens of thousands of frantic puppies or kittens,
they go by boat and snowmobile from nursery to nursery. British and
Canadian veterinarians, observing the scene in recent years, estimated
that about 40% of victims are skinned alive. Uncounted others are
"struck and lost," meaning shot and drowned.
(And
this guy was witness to it all, right there on the Disney Channel,
while sitting back in his leather chair, enjoying his 'veal' parmesan!
And of course, that just fine with him, because the media 'never' goes
into the back rooms of the urban supermarkets where they actually
cultivate the lumps of meat on little styrofoam trays. And the
Parmesan? Well that's made from..uh..cheese.. and everyone knows cheese
comes from soya trees, and leather comes from factories in other
countries! Ain't life as a urban liberal wonderful!)
Colombian coach, victim of gun attack, unable to live off ventilator
BOGOTA, Colombia (AP) - Colombian soccer coach Luis Fernando Montoya
likely will never be able to breathe without a ventilator or use his
arms or legs after being shot two weeks ago while protecting his wife
from robbers, doctors said Tuesday.
(But
what about the gun? Did they arrest that dangerous 'gun' that attacked
him? After all, this 'was' reported as a "Gun Attack" not a Attack by
Robbers. Was the coach armed? Probably not, even if he was it would
never be reported. Why? Because guns are 'all' bad. It's best you don't
try to use one to defend yourself, or much like a 'pit bull' it could
'turn on you' at any moment, and render 'you'
the victim of a "gun attack" At least according to the liberal
controlled media. This was truly a tragedy for all involved, but the
GUN did not attack him, the ROBBERS did! Had they beat him with a
baseball bat during the robbery, would this then have been reported as
a "bat attack"? Not likely)
Doctors kill more people per year than guns
Back before the November election, many mainstream media
pundits--trying desperately to get John Kerry elected--began to harp on
President Bush’s unwillingness to stop certain federal gun control laws
from expiring as scheduled. But their propaganda efforts came to naught
because this issue was a non-starter with the American people. The fact is, in this day of post-9/11 increased
security consciousness, most average Americans simply don’t want more
gun control. They want more guns on hand to defend themselves and their
loved ones in the face of possible life-threatening danger. Soccer moms
are now taking handgun proficiency courses down at the local firing
range.
Liberals are always complaining about getting to the
root of the problem--unless it deals with gun rights. Then they abandon
all logical analysis and resort to hysteria, distortion and downright
lies.
Today I want to set the record straight and dispel a few of the more common myths with some hard facts.
(Liberals
are Liberals no matter what side of the border their on. The liberals
always want more power 'from' you... History has proven time and time
again, the only way to ensure a government has absolute power when it
feels it needs it, is to disarm it's citizens. Facts play no part it
what a liberal want's to hear if it goes against what it wants, period.
As it would seem, some people with guns kill people but Doctors Kill
'more' People! This article has been around for a while now, It's just
very nice to link to it from a 'Canadian' source)
Police 'Taser' & Kill Handcuffed man
The death comes as civil rights groups have repeatedly warned of the
increasing number of fatalities among people shocked by police Tasers, raising
questions about whether people suffering from mental illness, intoxication and
heart problems may be especially vulnerable to stun guns.
Saulsbury, 30, suffered cardiac arrest at his family's home on Inverness
Drive in the Westview district of Pacifica and was pronounced dead at Seton
Medical Center in Daly City at 12:40 a.m., according to San Mateo County
Coroner Robert Foucrault.
The cause of death is pending an autopsy to be conducted today and
possible toxicology tests that could take two weeks.
"They put the handcuffs on him, and they started shooting him with that
stun gun. The next thing you know he wasn't breathing,'' said the man's aunt,
Shenita King. Preliminary paramedic reports suggest Saulsbury was shocked at least two
times when an officer directly held the stun gun against him, Foucrault said.
During the autopsy, he said, doctors will look for evidence of "how long (the
Taser) was administered and how many times. Sometimes, if these things are
left on too long, burn marks are left on the skin.''
(The
more cops that carry these things, means the more times they will be
indiscriminately used. Just the way they 'currently' use pepper spray
on handcuffed people, to exert authority and dominance.)
Public relations issues and your shooting range
Why should a shooting range have a "Director of Community
Relations"? In today's world of "political correctness," your shooting
range is a target for anti-firearm groups and other groups who do not
understand what we do.
Building positive relationships with
your local media, your local community, and local municipal government
is vital for good will for your range. It is equally vital for your
range's long-term survival. Having a positive presence in your local
community ensures that your range, the shooting sports and our firearms
heritage are seen as important parts of your local community.
Simply put, you have to make sure that your shooting club matters to your local community.
(A lot of times, "political
correctness" is a creeping disease. The 'more' politically correct you
try to be, the more politically correct they 'expect' you to be, so the
standard of political correctness keeps increasing. What the community
needs to know about shooting ranges is the 'truth' not a display of
political correctness. The fear of political correctness is what
'keeps' a lot of clubs from inviting the public to watch a IPSC match
for example.. 'Public' Political correctness says all those people
should not be walking around wearing pistols - after all this is
Canada- and the press is not usually able to be trusted to give a
unbiased report. So, it's simple.. You don't invite the press, and you
miss out.. The first step in promoting your club to the public is to
find local reporters that can be trusted to give unbiased opinions.
Invite them out, let them shoot, and let them write about what they
discovered. If they do a hatchet job, then they should be inundated
with letters to the editor letting the public know that 'that'
particular reporter is not to be trusted in the future. Well planned
Public relations WILL work! I have never seen a single person that
'claimed' they hated guns, leave the range without grinning from ear to
ear after poking some holes in a target with a .22 and 'then' a .44
magnum.. It's 'fun' whether they hate to admit it or not, their
'grins' give them away every time!! )

LONDON, ENGLAND - A 40-year-old British man has been arrested for
allegedly sending out hoax e-mails telling people that their missing
friends and relatives had died in south Asia's deadly tsunami. London's
Metropolitan Police said they arrested a man in Lincolnshire county in
central England and seized computer equipment. The
hoax messages, claiming to be from the Foreign Office Bureau in
Thailand, were sent to friends and relatives who had appealed for any
information on their loved ones on the Sky News TV website. The
messages, which were sent from the e-mail address
ukgovofficeaol.com, said that the missing friend or relative was dead,
police said. We are treating this as a very serious crime," the
Metropolitan police service said.
"The
MPS would like to reassure the public that these messages are hoaxes.
The British government would not use e-mail to convey news of the death
of a loved one."

Another 'Mad Cow'
The U.S. border was slammed shut to Canadian beef in May of 2003,
after the discovery in Alberta of the country's first case of BSE. The
border was reopened to some processed beef products in August of 2003.
But a second case in late 2003 was found in Washington state, in a cow
that had Alberta roots. That helped to keep the border closed to live
cattle, resulting in an agonizing 19-month ordeal for domestic beef
producers. Some Americans were angered at the decision last week to reopen the
border, including the Ranchers-Cattlemen Action Legal Fund. The group
held back comment on the potential new case, not wanting to "jump the
gun on a sensitive situation," but declared yesterday that it will do
all it can to keep the border closed to live Canadian cattle. It said
several members of the U.S. Congress are on its side.
(I wonder how long the border would be closed if Alberta turned off the 'gas' taps ? This IS all about protectionism isn't it?)
Gun control doesn't reduce crime, violence, say studies
National Academy of Sciences, Justice Dept. reports
find no benefits to restricting ownership of firearms
While it is an article of faith among gun-control proponents that
government restrictions on firearms reduces violence and crime, two new
U.S. studies could find no evidence to support such a conclusion. The
National Academy of Sciences issued a 328-page report based on 253
journal articles, 99 books, 43 government publications, a survey of 80
different gun-control laws and some of its own independent study. In
short, the panel could find no link between restrictions on gun
ownership and lower rates of crime, firearms violence or even accidents
with guns.
(I can't think of a better article to end the year on.. Gun control has NO effect on Crime Rates..
But of course, the Liberals will somehow insist that this is only the
case in the U.S.A. and 'gun control' works in Canada.. And then, they
will drag out the old 2000 hits a days on the database (they say from police, but everyone knows it's simply just bureaucratic 'busywork'), The 1200 "refusals"(
that have since been licensed, or in most cases, still have all the
guns they had, and 'those' refusals are only a fraction of the number
refused under the old FAC system), the 90% compliance rate (only
the liberals could figure 7 million guns, and 2 million owners is 90%
of the actual 17 million guns and 5 million owners) The police support the registry (The
police association 'lobby group' supports the registry in the hope of
getting more power/funding/etc. The police on the street DO NOT), 1200 'or so' "affidavits" for the courts to be used in firearms prosecutions (in
virtually every case, the affidavit would only confirm the firearm was
indeed "not registered" , as any police officer with a brain could have
told them beforehand!). And on
and On it goes.. The Liberals only pulling their heads out of their
asses long enough to see who's handing them 'another' cheque to be
distributed among their friends... HAPPY NEW YEAR.. MAY THE FARCE AVOID
YOU IN 2005)
