GUN CONTROL:
Liberal Thinking: The few people who can't use martial arts or other non-lethal means of self-defense--the young, the old, the infirm, the disabled, the weak, the small, and the pregnant--are simply the necessary sacrifice we must make to criminals, to avoid the risks of letting people be armed.

The Bruce Montague Scrap C-68 Fund
(Re-Printed from the Firearms Digest)
Today three Dryden, Ontario, residents established a trust fund to assist
Bruce Montague in obtaining good legal counsel to carry the fight against
the unjust Firearms Act all the way to the Supreme Court of Canada.
The Bruce Montague Scrap C-68 Fund is now ready to receive donations.
In fact, Anthony Nickel of Dryden made the first donation two days ago !!
Please be generous as you pull out your checkbooks (unfortunately The Fund is NOT yet able to receive electronic transfers).
To launch the first public appeal for funds, Donna Montague will be attending the gun show in Kenora to tell  of  the 36 hour "home invasion" which she and her children endured at the hands of the OPP and the Ontario Special Weapons Force. Jack Wilson & I will also be present to distribute Support Your Rights and Freedoms literature at a table very graciously provided to us by the local Kenora gun club and to assist in the collection of funds. We all are indebted to Dryden bush pilot Dan Baron (aka The Red Baron), Roger Nordlund, a local auto repair mechanic, and Willie Cheslock, a financial advisor with Nesbitt Burns, for volunteering to manage the Fund. Please send your donation made out to the

The Crying Starts, Now that it's Happening to 'Them'!
There is a growing trend in American government centers to treat journalists like criminals - and like gun owners. The Illinois Leader, an Internet daily news site, reports that at the Pennsylvania capitol in Harrisburg, reporters will not be issued an annual access card unless they submit to an annual criminal background check. The "compromise" that was worked out was to have their employers carry out the checks. Chicago's city government is requiring fingerprints and criminal background checks also. The Chicago Police Department claims they will not keep this information, but a law long on the books requires this information to be on file before reporters get their access credentials. The Illinois Leader quotes a reporter asking these excellent questions: "Who would have access to these background checks? It's hard for me to believe the police department will do background checks and not put that information in a file. Who will get it? An alderman with a grudge? Even if there's nothing illegal (in the background check), who knows what will show up? You should see the messages I'm getting from members. The scenarios are endless." The federal registration list was used by police to go door-to-door in the Maryland suburbs of Washington during the Beltway Snipers' rampage in 2002. They thought they would find the crime gun in somebody's home. In fact, they found the crime gun the way they almost always do - with the criminal at the time of apprehension. Canada has registered handguns since 1934 and has never, ever, not even once, solved a crime with its registry. This was pointed out by Canadian Member of Parliament, Gary Breitkreuz, in my Live Fire interview with him (http://gunowners.org/radio.htm). But as New York City showed us a few years ago, guns that have been registered can be confiscated when the government decides to leave its citizens defenseless. To return to the reporter quoted by the Illinois Leader: "But there is almost unanimous concern about how the information would be used and who will be excluded." Gun owners might wonder if anti-self-defense bureaucrats in the FBI might plant disqualifying information in many of the files in their computers. It would be easy for them to do, and very difficult and costly for the gun owner to prove his innocence.(Soon, the Canadian government will be demanding 'background checks' on Canadian journalists, to keep the nut cases from obtaining not guns, but journalist 'credentials' ! It's being called for in the U.S., so it will happen here too. Particularly in a 'nanny state' like Kanada.. Their just now, beginning to see how their personal information can be used against them. Just like the OPP home invasion of the guy that sent a 'harsh' email to Dalton McGuinty.. The Registry told them that he owned a firearm, and anyone that owns a firearm, and at the same time is disgusted with a lying politician, deserves to have his rights revoked and a search warrant issued, even though there were no threats involved. In this case, the only charges laid were the result of the 'probably' illegal search... Journalists should 'welcome' a registration system and all that it offers. After all, they certainly championed ours didn't they? )
Cig makers establish online smokers' association
TORONTO (CP) - Tobacco makers have set up an online association to be "a voice" for Canadian smokers and promote their rights as the non-smoking lobby calls for more smoking bans and governments increase taxes.
The non-profit national smokers' organization will be based around a website, Mychoice.ca, and its policies will be driven by members, the Canadian Tobacco Manufacturers' Council said Tuesday. (I have nothing against smokers, as long as their habit has no effect on me or my family. But wait! Are 'my' taxes so high and my health in danger because smokers are clogging the health care system? Probably. They have no right to smoke anywhere their addiction will affect others who are not addicted. I have the right to fire my pistol at the range, but I do not have the right to fire in while standing in line, in a restaurant or bar, or any place in public for that matter. All across north america, guns take only a fraction of the lives that second hand smoke does. As someone once said, having a smoking section in a public restaurant, is like having a peeing section in a public pool! I made a choice almost 25 years ago to kick the filthy habit because my health could be in danger. I have no desire to let someone 'else' injure me because he or she, 'thinks' they have that right! The law in most places basically says: You have no right to enter a public space, while you have burning objects protruding from your body, whether they be cigarettes, cigars, pipes, or arrows, and I agree with that!)
Firearms and the law: what do you really know?
It seems that most Canadians know very little about firearms and what the law requires and enforces. A national public opinion survey was conducted not long ago by a Simon Fraser University researcher, and it reveals that Canadians know little about existing gun control laws and their support for firearm registration weakens as they become more knowledgeable about the issue. This knowledge includes the hidden costs associated with firearms registration. This study also reinforces the findings of other surveys indicating that Canadians place a very low priority on stricter gun control laws as a method of combating violent crime. This survey was conducted with 5,500 Canadians randomly picked from all over the country and all different walks of life. The preliminary results of this survey provide a clearer insight into the gun control controversy than has been available in recent single question polls. Most avid hunters have registered their firearms, for the simple fact that they will want to use their guns for obvious reasons and are at greater risk of being checked or caught. Unfortunately, these are the people who are going to get hassled the most. Roadside checks are going to be set up like hotdog stands in some of the more favorable hunting spots. And for what? There are no liquor stores or Seven Eleven's to knock off, nor are there any banks or little old ladies to rob out in the bush! But muscles have to be flexed, right? The government has to nail some poor fellow with his son grouse hunting and make sure he pays!! It's pathetic.(Yes it IS pathetic.. Which is why the vast majority of firearms in this country's closets, attics, basements, and barns have not, and never will be registered by their law abiding owners.. This is a law based entirely on political goals, and aimed squarely at the vote rich,  ignorant urban masses..)
Election concerns shoot down gun control law
Once again, the gun fetishists who with their overflowing coffers and braying voices tend to drown out anyone who tries to talk reason in the United States have won out over common sense. On Monday of last week, two days after what's become a new annual tradition of wallowing in grief over the attacks on the World Trade Centre in 2001, the US Congress let a 10-year-old law banning the sale of certain types of guns lapse without so much as lifting a finger to renew it. The law banned the sale of certain types of military assault weapons, such as Uzis, AK-47s and AR-15s, which are capable of firing multiple rounds when the trigger is squeezed. (More wrong information from someone that 'thinks' they know what their talking about. Is there no end to 'uninformed' jounalists?)
Gun bylaw misfires:
Also See:A city that shoots blanks
About 300 rural residents expressed their anger during the Glanbrook public meeting held to debate the draft bylaw proposals recently. They argued the proposals put more onerous restrictions on rural residents. For instance, warned Mitchell, property owners forced to put up signs could unwittingly invite "drunken city people" to come up to the property and start shooting. It would also cost a farmer up to $1,500 to install the signs on his property, said Mitchell. And a proposed 500 meter setback from any dwelling is stricter than the provincial government's 300 meter setback rule, he pointed out. Mitchell can understand needing written permission to hunt on a person's property, but in the rural culture, a handshake and verbal permission is all that is needed, he said. The politician, who owns about 150 acres, allows a restricted number of people to hunt on his property. According to a rural resident who attended the Glanbrook meeting, even the definition of a firearm is unclear. It states "any instrument capable of firing or releasing a projectile at a rate of speed capable of harming, injuring or damaging a person, animal or property." The resident pointed out the definition also includes a golf club and golf ball. (More people die on golf courses every single year , than are injured while hunting. This bylaw would also cover baseballs, (remember the seagull?) and probably even the 'ball return' at your local bowling alley.. This is what happens when city people 'try' to write firearms laws, they ALWAYS get it wrong, and could spend over a billion dollars doing it!)
Meaty charge laid:
Gun fight takes shape

He said “this is the first (firearms) charge with any meat on it.” “We’re looking forward to taking it in front of a judge. “This will be the first chance to take a real good look at (the controversial gun registration requirement) . . . the first real chance of defeating this law.” According to its website, the CUFOA maintains the Firearms Act of 1995 violates at least seven specific rights and freedoms guaranteed to all Canadian citizens under the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, the Canadian Bill of Rights, the Canadian Constitution, the British North America Act, English Common Law, the English Bill of Rights and the Magna Carta. Plagued by cost overruns, the gun registry has been criticized by several groups including the CUFOA, Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters, provincial cabinet ministers and some police services.  Opponents also say the act violates rights to privacy, security of person, presumption of innocence, association, representation, mobility, and freedom from unreasonable search and seizure. Montague, 45, spent the past week in jail after being arrested by OPP officers at a Sept. 11 gun show in Dryden. While he “kind of welcomed the arrest,” Montague said he was surprised at the aggressiveness of the police action. Dryden Crown attorney Peter Keen said Wednesday that he couldn’t comment on information released at Montague’s bail hearing in Sioux Lookout because the investigation is ongoing. “Most of it is not public record,” Keen said, adding the CUFOA has not provided formal notice of a Constitutional challenge to his office, nor to the Office of the Attorney General. Bruce Montague returns to Dryden court Nov. 15, while Donna’s next court appearance is Oct. 25. The Montagues have retained the services of Thornhill, Ont., lawyer Ed Burlew. Bruce said CUFOA has set up a trust fund for the court challenge. “While there’s not a lot of money in it right now, we’re hoping the community at-large will pitch in and make the fight a winnable one,” he said.  (The fight is ON, and it IS winnable.. If the liberals win 'this' fight, there is no reason to believe they won't go after more of your rights in the future. After all, a liberal does best, what a liberal does best! and that's LIE to get power at any cost.. PLEASE Send what you can to the  Bruce Montague Scrap C-68 Fund, address: RR 2 Site 230, box 20, Dryden, Ontario, P8N 2Y5.)
Deal 'with the devil' brokered for Montague’s release
A quiet, bearded man who stopped eating for three days after being thrown in jail Sept. 11 on firearms charges will be freed Tuesday, Crown attorney Peter Keen told a packed Kenora courtroom late Monday afternoon. William Bruce Montague, 45, a Dryden gunsmith described by his lawyer as a man “who is going through a process of civil disobedience,” sat in a holding cell in the Kenora courthouse while his wife and son, friends, reporters and fellow members of Canadian Unregistered Firearms Owners Association waited almost seven hours for his release hearing to start. Keen, who was denied a request by justice of the peace Robert McNally for a publication ban on the hearing’s proceedings, said the Crown would release Montague only after he tells police the location of a hidden room in his rural log house. “We don’t know yet what firearms will be found,” Keen said, adding more charges could be laid.(Well, unless he 'bears witness' against himself by leading the police to more of his private property, he sits in jail.. If even the police can't find his guns, what danger could they possibly be to the public. And, under those circumstances, there is no way any of them could be judged as un-safely stored. What a marvellous 'just-us' system we have in Liberal run Canada. This could happen to YOU even if you don't own 'any' firearms, and the police 'think' you do! Why would they 'think' you have hidden firearms? Perhaps an anonymous tip from a busybody neighbour who has a grudge. Since the Liberals have taken away your constitutional rights, virtually 'anything' can get your home invaded by 'law enforcement' officers . Particularly if your grandfather left you an old .22 in his will, and it's been sitting in the attic, forgotten for 20 years. Or, you may have simply wrote a 'harsh' email to Liberal McGuinty as one poor recipient of one of these 'government' invasions did.. Mr Montigue is being persecuted for political purposes, and is being charged with a 'made in Ottawa' victimless crime.. There, but for the grace of a pissed off neighbour, goes you and I.. Send Him A cheque.. Bruce Montague Scrap C-68 Fund, address: RR 2 Site 230, box 20, Dryden, Ontario, P8N 2Y5.)
Least Competant Criminals

During the recent trial in Brooklyn, N.Y., at which mob boss Joseph Massino was convicted of various charges, several tales emerged in testimony showing a less-than-efficient crime family. “Good Looking Sal” Vitale, who turned on Massino in the trial (perhaps balancing out “Vinny Gorgeous” Basciano, who remained loyal), admitted that Massino once got angry just before a hit when a nervous Vitale accidentally fired his submachine gun in their closet hiding place while waiting for the victims. Vitale sheepishly acknowledged that Massino immediately took the gun away from him and told him to go just monitor the door.(Ya, don'tja just hate it when that happens!)
Spouse of jailed gunsmith vows to take C-68 fight to Supreme Court
A Dryden woman is angry and a little shaken after Dryden OPP charged her and her husband with firearms and explosives related offences. Donna Montague and her husband Bruce were arrested and charged at Dryden’s gun show, Sept. 11. Her husband has been held in custody ever since. A show cause hearing at Dryden provincial court Sept. 15 was adjourned to Kenora, Sept. 17, and subsequently rescheduled for this morning (Monday) at 10 a.m., also in Kenora. “He’s still in custody, I hope on Monday he will be free. He’s not a risk to society,” fumed Donna Montague, manning a booth at the Kenora Gun Show at the Kenora Curling Club on Saturday, along with her daughter Katey and middle son, Michael. “We’re going all the way to the Supreme Court. It’s our best hope, it’s our only hope. If this goes through, hunting will basically end as will personal firearms ownership,” Montague continued, noting she is collecting donations to raise money for lawyer’s fees.
Dryden Crown attorney Peter Keen confirmed that the bail court proceedings are subject to a publication ban. “This legislation takes away the necessity of a search warrant. Even an anonymous tip can allow them to enter your house. People need to know we are doing this for every Canadian. You don’t even need to have a firearm to be affected,”  (Bruce is no criminal, but he IS a victim of blatant political harassment. PLEASE... PLEASE... PLEASE send a donation to Bruce Montague Scrap C-68 Fund, address: RR 2 Site 230, box 20, Dryden, Ontario, P8N 2Y5.  of whatever you can afford. This is our BIG chance to put this farce to the test. Our big chance to reclaim a good number of the freedoms that have been stripped from Canadians by Liberal governments over the last 40 years. A chance to once again be 'citizens' of Canada, and NOT 'subjects' of our government. The Toronto Urban folks may 'feel' safer when they vote for liberals, but they should ask themselves one question: Has the 'gunfire' on Toronto streets increased, or decreased since this farce of a law came into effect?)
Stoney Point Elder discounts gun `rumours'
FOREST, Ont.— False news reports about natives armed with guns frightened police and firefighters to the point that they wouldn't set foot on the Stoney Point reserve, an elder told the public inquiry into the death of native activist Anthony (Dudley) George."There was a lot of rumours," Clifford George, 84, told the inquiry examining how Dudley George ended up being shot by a member of the Ontario Provincial Police when seven officers opened fire on an unarmed group of Stoney Point natives during a confrontation on Sept. 6, 1995."There still is today," continued George, under questioning from Mark Sandler, a lawyer representing the OPP. "That there were weapons in there ... There are not, sir. There never was."("Seven Officers opened fire on an unarmed group of stoney point natives" Sort of says the whole thing doesn't it? These are the people sworn to 'serve and protect' providing of course you don't piss them off! )
Ship That Only Cost Half as Much as The Canadian QEIIGun Registry Won't Be Stopping in Sydney
SYDNEY, N.S. - Hurricane-force winds will keep the Queen Mary 2 from making her first Canadian visit Monday, disappointing cruise ship watchers in Cape Breton. The world's largest luxury liner will skip her Sydney visit because of winds measuring at least 100 km/h, and may not stop at her next scheduled port of call in Corner Brook, Nfld. The Queen Mary 2, built over five and a half years at a cost of $800 million, was launched by the Queen last January in Southampton, England. (The WORLDS Largest luxury Liner, as opposed to Canada's Largest Luxury, Bureaucratic Boondoggle.. It's amazing Eh! The Canadian taxpayer has been hoodwinked out of enough funds by the Liberal Government for their pet project, gold plated, useless gun registry, to buy TWO of these ships. Sorta puts everything into perspective eh!)
'Nothing to do with drug ring'
(Says Police advised him to get a gun)
Blake, who played in 11 games over two seasons (1995 and 2000) with the Bombers, admitted he did have a loaded .357 Magnum handgun in his home at 98 Bethune Way in St. Vital early Wednesday morning. That's when officers stormed the front door and arrested him and his wife. The 35-year-old boxing promoter said he told officers exactly where the gun was and that it was loaded. It was a Winnipeg police officer who suggested he get the firearm in the first place, Blake claimed. The former owner of Phat Daddy's Cabaret said he has had three death threats in the past year. After recently barring a group of street gang members from his Exchange District nightclub, Blake said the gangsters returned a short time later and fired several shots into the building at 165 McDermot Ave. When he called police, an officer told him, "If I were you, Eddie, I would get it (a gun for protection)," Blake said. Blake, affectionately known as Earthquake, said he has six people who are ready to give affidavits supporting his claims. Blake was one of 17 Canadians, including 10 Manitobans, charged following 34 cross-Canada raids Wednesday that netted police more than 20,000 pounds of ephedrine -- a main ingredient in the illegal drug methamphetamine -- worth $14.5 million. They also seized appproximately $3.5 million in cash. "None of it came out of my f---ing house," Blake said. (If anything, this highlights, once again, how easy it is to get a gun.. If he had no licence or registration for the firearm, it was bought on the street. If there was a licence and registration, the police KNEW it was in the house.. If it was loaded, it may very well have been 'temporarily' out of storage for defensive purposes.. After all, he had received death threats, and now 'someone' was kicking in his door!!)
The choice is yours
More than one individual is wondering why so much time and money has gone into the arrest of a Dryden gunsmith and his wife, when this individual has literally served himself up on a platter for the past two years.
The questions, "why now?" and "why with so much hoopla?" seem to be on the tip of many individuals' tongues - and for good reason. It's not like Bruce Montague wouldn't have gone quietly and willingly - he probably would have taken police on a guided tour of his home - so why did we have to tie up so much money in a multi-taskforce effort that, no doubt, involved weeks of investigation and thousands of dollars? One old-timer said he was sure glad that all the crimes and criminal activity in Northwestern Ontario have been put to bed, since the police obviously have a great deal of extra time and cash on their hands to be wasting on law-abiding citizens who don't like what government is doing. Others might argue that Montague is not 'law-abiding' because he's not following the new gun laws... but how many of you are there reading this right now who haven't followed those laws? Answer honestly. How many laws have you broken if it came right down to a surprise search of your home? What do you have in your gun cabinet? Where have you been surfing on the Internet? What did you bring back from your last trip out of the country? Most people wouldn't even realize how many laws they were breaking. Others say they know a bad law when they hear it and insist that they have to do something to impress upon government that they will not surrender rights and freedoms that bureaucrats decide they don't need anymore. Some just say they aren't interested in dishing out well over two billion for a system that will not work. So now, as Canadian citizens, you can decide if it's time to sanitize your home - just in case - or see to it that you retain those rights and freedoms you hold dear. I suspect most of you have already begun cleaning out your closet..(As usual, NO charges were laid under the useless firearms act, they used the criminal code again. I'll bet as soon as the feds know that 'this' case WILL go all the way to the supreme court (everyone hopes anyway), the feds will drop, or more likely 'stay' all charges.. Of course, because they don't have the guts to stand behind their useless 'billion dollar' firearms act, they'll do what they have always done when they have to make a parliamentary decision that might end up embarrassing them.. They wait for the 'un elected', liberal appointed, courts to decide.. That's why we elect politicians ain't it? So they can appoint judges to make all the hard decisions for them.. )
Campers paddle 70 km for help after grizzly attacks
YELLOWKNIFE - Two campers in a national park in the Northwest Territories fought off a grizzly bear with rocks and a paddle, then canoed 70 kilometres to the nearest ranger station for medical help, park officials said this week. One of the visitors to Nahanni National Park is recovering from minor injuries to his arm, hand and head. The other was not hurt. The bear disturbed a tent where the two people were sleeping beside the South Nahanni River last week, park warden Barry Troke said. "It looks like it was just a random encounter in the wilderness," he said. "The bear was roaming down the creek, [sees] something strange in the landscape, so the bear investigates and lo and behold, there's two people inside and the bear reacts." The bear ran off after the campers fought it off. (Be sure to read the 'indepth' part. The basic information is the same.. If a bear is 'Brown' lie down..If a bear is 'Black' fight back. If a bear is 'White'... Bend over as far as you possibly can, pucker up and kiss your ass good bye..)
Canadian 'admitted he's a terrorist'
TORONTO - A Canadian detained as an enemy combatant at Guantanamo Bay has admitted he is a trained al-Qaeda terrorist and that he killed an American soldier in Afghanistan, according to internal U.S. military documents disclosed yesterday. Mr. Khadr, 17, is the only Canadian held by U.S. forces at the controversial Guantanamo detention facility. He is the son of the late Ahmed Khadr, a Canadian Islamic extremist who was close to bin Laden and his Egyptian deputy, Ayman Al-Zawahiri. Since Omar's capture in July, 2002, lawyers representing the Khadr family have been demanding his release, claiming in a lawsuit filed against U.S. President George W. Bush that the teen was not an al-Qaeda member, had not attended any training camps and had never committed violence against American troops. But the military document claims that Mr. Khadr has confessed to his involvement in al-Qaeda, and that he killed Sergeant 1st Class Christopher J. Speer, a decorated U.S. Army medic, during a July, 2002, gunfight between coalition troops and Taliban fighters.(NOW what excuse is Paul Martin's Government going to use to let this family band of KNOWN terrorists stay in this country.. Are we giving them housing? Are we giving them welfare? Kick the rest of the bastards out!!!)
Residents say Caymans and UK hiding true extent of damage
Seamus Brodie of Chelsea lost his house on Grand Cayman and was attempting to leave, but could not get a seat. "I have heard Air Canada is sending planes, the Hondurans, the Venezuelans, the Jamaicans. But where are the British? I don’t even have any luggage to take with me, I have nothing left. Just a few clothes." Mr Brodie is living in a hotel on Seven Mile Beach where a six-foot wall of sand was swept in during the storm. Crabs scuttle around the lobby of the hotel and even the third floor is still soaked, although the British managers have got a generator working flat out to provide hot meals and cold drinks for locals and stranded tourists. Helicopters clatter overhead and fleets of aircraft are flying in. While damage is extensive and barely a building left untouched, and with concrete edifices tilted on their foundations, people have remained calm, though there has been sporadic looting. Britons told of their terror, some saying they were even sleeping with knives beside their beds amid reports of rampaging gangs. Annette McAdam, 42, of Guernsey, who lives on Grand Cayman, said: "There were groups of guys with machetes, they had guns and knives and just emptied ships in Georgetown. "There was jewellery in the street where they dropped stuff on the way. It’s scary, you don’t feel safe and you worry how far they will go." (Isn't it heart-warming to know that no matter WHAT, when disaster strikes, the criminals will always be able to get guns and turn the law abiding into the victims they have been bred and socially conditioned to be.. I hope the people sleeping with their knives, know that under british law, if they defend themselves, they 'could' spent more time in prison than the creep that attacks them..)
Tax collectors across Canada walk off job
OTTAWA - Federal tax collectors from across the country walked off the job Wednesday, setting up picket lines in at least 55 cities. The workers involved in the job action handle most of the government's tax operations, including processing tax returns and answering inquiries from the public. Meanwhile, 4,800 Parks Canada employees have been staging rotating strikes since Aug. 13. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency and all Treasury Board groups could soon follow suit, meaning another 100,000 public servants would be on strike.(Aren't the Liberal doing a 'wonderful job of running this country ? What happens when the C.F.C. goes on strike? Why that only makes the Multi-Million dollar cap last longer.. It's not that guns 'need' to be registered anyway.. As for taxes, I think EVERYONE should simply tell the government that they are now using the federally approved Hon. André Ouellet Honour System, for declaring income and taxable benefits. THAT alone should reduce the workload of all tax collectors.)
Flicks for the far right
One of the more amusingly bad selections was Jack Cashill's Mega Fix, in which Cashill, a thin, craggy man with a reassuringly amiable voice, delivers a lunatic monologue about Bill Clinton and terrorism. According to Cashill, a columnist for WorldNet Daily, Islamic terrorists, some with ties to Iraq, were behind the Oklahoma City bombing, the downing of Flight 800 and the bombing at the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta. Clinton, corrupt and pusillanimous, covered all this up because he didn't want to go to war. His Justice Department preferred to pin the blame for Oklahoma City on "these two perfect specimens of rightwing American manhood" because it would help them discredit Newt Gingrich and the Republican revolutionists of 1994. Amazingly, Cashill's film wasn't the most outlandish documentary on offer. It was trumped by Innocents Betrayed, which attributes most of the 20th century's genocides, as well as lynching, the Japanese-American internment and the rape of Nanking to gun control. Jumping from country to country, it first explains how a particular government passed laws limiting the ownership of weapons, and then cuts to pornographic montages of mutilated corpses. Walking out, a conservative journalist from Washington looked at me and said, "OK, that was offensive." (Yup!! Sometime the truth 'is' offensive. Particularly when your constantly deprived of it by left wing politics, and the popular media!)
Immigration system a mess, says Toronto MP
A Toronto Liberal MP has called the federal immigration system 'dysfunctional' after Canadian officials refused to let a Ukrainian woman claim her husband's body. Tatyana Kukharrska had been planning to join her husband in Canada, but he died unexpectedly before he could sponsor her. Kukharrska, who lives in Ukraine, was rejected three times when she applied for a visitor's visa to take his remains back to her home country. "I was absolutely in shock that in my agony, they were brutally making me suffer," said Kukharrska. "And I didn't expect that from Canada." Kukharrska eventually claimed her husband's body, but only after Etobicoke Centre MP Borys Wrzesnewskyj got involved. He guaranteed immigration officials she wouldn't overstay her visa.
Wrzesnewskyj says that under the immigration points system, blue collar workers often don't meet the qualifications to come to Canada, even though there is work for them in places such as the construction industry.
"I'm almost reaching the point where I believe that our whole immigration system has become dysfunctional. That in fact it's at the point of being broken," he said. (Qualification? There are Qualifications involved? I was under the impression you just had to jump off a boat, sneak across the border, or hide in the wheel well of a aircraft. THEN, say the magic words.. "I am a Refugee" for free accommodations, food, and a monthly welfare cheque until you land a job with Revenue Canada! Ask me if I'm cynical!)
Chrétien signatures focus of sponsorship inquiry
OTTAWA - Documents revealed Tuesday at the inquiry into the federal sponsorship scandal show then prime minister Jean Chrétien was told he was accountable for money spent in the program. According to the documents, Jocelyne Bourgon, then the federal clerk of the privy council, wrote to Chrétien to clarify who was administering the program. Bourgon wrote that as public works minister, Alfonso Gagliano was accountable for all spending under the program. But she also explained that because Chrétien had personally signed documents authorizing sponsorship spending, he too was accountable. "It is your office which determines to which projects the monies are directed. Should questions arise in the House of Commons, for example, on the initiatives supported by these funds, you might have to respond," Bourgon wrote. Chrétien signed the Treasury Board submissions during the first two years the sponsorship program existed – 1996 and 1997. It's rare for a prime minister to personally sign a submission to the Treasury Board. (OOooo Starting to look good for Chrétien eh!... Hahahahah..  Probably wishes he had used his 'rubber stamp' instead of his signature.. Now their hunting for 'Martin's' Signature on some of this graft!)
Can't get enough rapid fire power
To celebrate the beginning of the school year, the U.S. Congress let the 10-year ban on assault weapons lapse. And so, as of yesterday, Tuesday, Sept. 14, the average American citizen can legally buy a military-style assault rifle such as an AK-47 which can shoot 600 rounds a minute. And by the way, those 600 rounds will cover a distance of up to 300 metres. Makes me feel safer. There's a certain Zen-like peace in knowing that if anybody tries to break into my house I can off him with an assault weapon rather than with the handgun I keep under my pillow. Why should a thief get shot only once or twice when I can blast him 600 times? (If only that were true!! Unfortunately, she must get her 'facts' the same place as 60 minutes gets theirs.. The 'fully automatic' AK47 is still banned in the U.S.. To fire 600 rounds a minute from the ones that were banned by the Clintoon gun farce, you would have to pull the trigger 600 times in that very same minute, or a measly ten times a second..... For practice, she can "Pull my finger" heheheheh)
Protesters storm British parliament
There has been a major breach of security at the British houses of parliament, after five supporters of fox-hunting invaded the main chamber of the House of Commons. The protesters shouted and gesticulated at MPs before being removed by security officials. Debate in the chamber was suspended briefly, before MPs went on to vote for an outright ban on hunting with dogs. The intrusion took place amid violent scenes outside, as thousands rallied to oppose the ban. Riot police used batons to push back a section of the crowd that surged forward. Brian Perry, who was caught in the crush, described the incident. "The next thing I knew, we had three truncheon hits straight over my head," he said. "We were lying on the ground and they just tried to beat us on the ground and it was just unreal. They were animals, total animals." The Bill on banning hunting with dogs later passed by 356 votes to 166.(And of course, in all likelihood the 356 votes to ban hunting with dogs were not 'country' folk.. It's also highly unlikely that it would have affected 'them' no matter which way they voted.. The 'Disney Mentality' of the ignorant urban wins again.. Of course, the hunters 'are' British 'Subjects' and in a country populated by 'Subjects' instead of citizens, what 'Subjects' think is irrelevant anyway)
Japan executes man for killing school children in knife attack
TOKYO (AP) - Japan on Tuesday executed a man convicted of killing eight children in a 2001 knife attack at a school in western Japan, NHK and Kyodo News reported. Mamoru Takuma was found guilty of barging into a crowded classroom and wildly slashing children in an attack that shocked Japan and prompted tighter security measures at the nation's schools. Seven girls and one boy, ages six to eight, were killed in the June 2001 knifing, and 13 other students and two teachers were wounded. It was Japan's worst mass killing since a deadly nerve gas attack on Tokyo's subways in 1995 and was part of a series of fatal slashings in a country that has strict gun laws and has prided itself on a low crime rate.(And did Japan 'blame' the knife? Did they ban knives? Did they ban any knives that only 'looked' dangerous? Or, did they use common sense and only blame the crazy person? Firearms are as much a part of north American history, as edged weapons are in Japan. I only wish I could say the same for common sense in 'what to blame'. )
U.S. gun shops, police officers brace for end of assault weapons ban
BOISE, Idaho (AP) - The expiration Monday of a 10-year federal ban on assault weapons means firearms like TEC-9s can now be legally bought, a development that has critics upset and gun owners pleased. The 1994 ban, signed by former president Bill Clinton, outlawed 19 types of military-style assault weapons. A clause directed that the ban expire unless Congress specifically reauthorized it, which it did not. Some of the 19 foreign-made weapons like the AK-47 and Uzi are still banned under a 1989 law prohibiting imports of specific automatic weapons. Studies by pro-and antigun groups as well as the Justice Department show conflicting results on whether the ban helped reduce crime. Loopholes allowed manufacturers to keep many weapons on the market simply by changing their names or altering some of their features or accessories. The differences between assault weapons and guns on the market before the ban expired are "cosmetic," Wayne LaPierre, executive vice-president of the National Rifle Association, said Monday on CBS's The Early Show.(The ban was nothing but an 'appeasement' anyway. Everything that can now be sold again, has always been available. The only difference is the prices will drop a bit, but not likely any lower than they were before the knee jerk reactionary ban. Virtually everything in the clinton ban with some exceptions like hi-cap mags were available in Canada.. Last fall, I bought a shotgun that had everything that was banned in the U.S., 18 inch barrel, barrel shroud, pistol grip, folding stock, threaded barrel muzzle, and it's not even restricted in this country.. The whole ban is a pile of crap. If someone can change a 10 shot mag in a spit second, what will make someone more dangerous with a 15 shot mag. ? Half these assholes running around the streets with guns now, are just as big a danger to themselves as they are to others. And when they shoot themselves, or another drug dealer, who cares.. As long as innocents are not caught in the crossfire! But, unfortunately many times they are. You use a gun in the commission of a crime, you should go away for a long, long, time. Our  bleeding heart liberals will never understand this, until 'their' the ones being shot at, and thell STILL be blaming the goddamn gun!!)
Memo from the premiers
In the mid-'90s, you lumped the money your government transfers to the provinces for health, welfare and post-secondary education into a single envelope.Your rationale was that this would give us greater flexibility to determine our priorities. It also had the advantage of obscuring the magnitude of the cuts your government was passing on to the health-care system. You have to forgive some of us for being intrigued by the fact that you are more interested in accountability now that there is credit to be had for putting the system back on its feet than when there was blame to be dished out for destroying it. Still, we are not really going to rub your nose in your outlandish promise to fix medicare for a generation. After all, we too promised to walk on water to curry favour with voters. Some of the most influential among us actually swore to cut taxes, restore health and education systems, and keep our books balanced without breaking a sweat. When we look at ourselves in the mirror these days, we too find that our noses are getting longer. We also understand that you do not really want to run the system in our place. Given your dismal record when it comes to dispensing health services to the aboriginal communities you are responsible for, you clearly do not need the extra burden.Besides, you probably have your hands full figuring out how to run your gun registry, maintain your depleted Armed Forces, and fulfill your international obligations on the environment. We also empathize with your concern for accountability. If any of us had had a scandal like that which has plagued your sponsorship program on any of our watches, we too would have become obsessed with tighter controls.(What 'is' intriguing, is that this rather sarcastic article was published in the Trudeau..er.. Toronto Star! The big 'in print' cheerleading squad for the Liberal Government. As a mater of fact, had the Star NOT been such a cheerleader for this incredibly inept bunch of squandering bureaucrats, and politicians, they may not have been elected a second, or even third time. Now their bitching about what they got for their efforts! Are they seeing the light? some of them are, but most are still pandering to the the left wing Toronto yuppie, and those than can afford to cross the border for their health care needs. One by one, people who MUST cross the border for health care needs, begin to wake up and smell the ineptitude that gave them a registry of duck hunters and farmers, instead of 235 MRI machines saving lives from coast to coast. People should NOT forget that The Toronto Star was a BIG part of 'cheering on' this waste.)
Shopkeep fights back
The owner of an Orleans convenience store and his son wrestled with a gun-wielding robber Wednesday night, scaring off the suspect and his accomplice. The owner of Ainee's Convenience on Voyageur Dr. did not want to comment yesterday about the attempted heist, but did say he and his 24-year-old son were not injured. His 19-year-old daughter, also in the store at the time, was not harmed. Ottawa police said two men entered the store -- one carrying a handgun -- and demanded cash. The store owner pushed the suspect with the gun and he and his son tried to disarm the would-be robber. The other suspect threw a computer monitor, but did not get involved in the struggle. The suspects took off with cigarettes and were last seen fleeing in a white Honda Civic hatchback. WARNING FOR OWNERS Cops are warning store owners not to struggle with gun-toting suspects, but to comply with their demands and call authorities. "We would strongly recommend to never fight someone with a firearm, or a knife, or a weapon," said Staff Sgt. Monique Ackland. "A weapon can always be turned against you ... it's a matter of life and death and your life is most important." (BULLSHIT!!! If more people had the guts and tools required to fight back, there would be a hell of a lot MORE criminals asking themselves if robbing that store was worth THEIR life.. And, it SHOULD be the criminals that are forced to ask that question, NOT the public. Unfortunately the defeatist attitude of urban Canada, is promoted by the Liberal governments in charge. If every time the baby screams, you hand it a candy, do you 'really ' expect the baby to stop screaming? If more criminals got shot,  injured, or even got the crap kicked out of them while in the commission of a crime, more criminals 'might' think twice before committing that crime, and the crime rate might actually go down. As long as criminals are GUARANTEED by the authorities that they will face no opposition, or threat to their personal being, don't expect them to go away soon. As a matter of fact, their telling all their friends that this method of obtaining money is a piece of cake, and the government made it that way! I might be killed or injured by someone trying to rob my business, but I can GUARANTEE  anyone robbing MY business can also expect to be killed or injured, and their going to have to make that decision before walking in the door! And,  that's the way it should be! )
Gun law should change, says Dene leader
YELLOWKNIFE -  The federal gun law continues to cause headaches for some people in the Northwest Territories. Villebrun says the law could be changed to make it easier for Dene people to comply. Every gun-owner in Canada must be licenced to buy firearms and ammunition. Guns can be confiscated if they aren't stored correctly. At the recent Dene National Assembly, many people continued to complain about how the law is affecting them. "We used to get our gun licence from the RCMP and it was good like that," says Marie Kochon, an elder from Colville Lake, told CBC last week. She says she sent the federal government money for her licence, but has been waiting three or four years. "There's no answer. I don't know what is wrong," she says. "We do the way they ask for it. But maybe something is wrong. I don't understand it." Chief Kenya Norwegian of Fort Simpson says RCMP confiscated and destroyed an elder's gun because it wasn't stored properly. "This law of course it doesn't fit with our First Nations people. It's our way of life," she says. "It was an old gun that no price tag can be put on it." (It's going to be interesting when all these cases finally come to court, and the Liberals have to defend this farce..)
WHO says suicide is preventable if authorities and individuals take action
Perhaps this tile should read :
WHO says suicide is preventable if authorities and individuals take action?
GENEVA (AP) - The World Health Organization on Wednesday urged countries to do more to prevent suicides by improving care for those with mental problems and making the weapons used in suicides more difficult to obtain. According to WHO, some one million people commit suicide each year. The figures are highest in the Baltic states, Russia and Finland, and lowest in Muslim countries and Latin America. Many suicides could be prevented if people didn't have easy access to weapons, poisons or medicines, health officials say. Timely treatment of mental illness and drug and alcohol dependency would further reduce the figures. (Canada has been making 'real' progress.. According to the gun control freaks, Canada's gun laws have been 'very' successful in keeping firearms from those that would commit suicide... Suicides with firearms at at an all time low.. Unfortunately, Suicides with ropes are at an all time high.. I guess suicide is OK, providing you don't be politically incorrect, and shoot yourself.. The liberals feel it's 'much' better to slowly strangle at the end of a rope, because if someone commits suicide with a 'gasp' gun!!! It's the 'gun's' fault.. Gotta stop them damn guns!!! ANY suicide is a tragedy, but a 'ban' on guns aint going to prevent anything!)
Survivors of DC-Area Sniper Attacks Receive Compensation
A U.S. gun manufacturer and a gun dealer have agreed to pay more than $2 million in damages to the victims and their families of the Washington D.C.-area snipers as part of a lawsuit settlement. The lawsuit was brought against the two businesses - Bushmaster Firearms in the north-eastern state of Maine, and Bull's Eye Shooter Supply in the northwestern state of Washington - by two surviving victims and the families of six people killed during the 2002 shooting spree. The gun that was linked to the shootings came from the manufacturer, and was one of several guns missing from the gun dealer before the attacks happened. The victims sued with the help of the Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence. Their attorneys describe the settlements as a "landmark" which will change the way the gun industry does business. A spokesman for the gun manufacturer says the company is not admitting any liability in the shootings. But as part of the settlement, it must work with its dealers on gun safety and on keeping guns out of the hands of criminals. (Well, It looks as if in the good ole U.S.A. if a drunk steals a new car right off the lot, and kills someone with it, you can now not only get money from the 'negligent' car dealer, but the manufacturer as well! Perhaps now, all the unarmed  people that have been killed or wounded by criminals, should also be able track their inability to defend themselves right back to laws forced through by the 'Brady Bunch' and launch a law suit for compensation. If suing someone for inadvertently providing a firearm to injure someone, then suing someone for inadvertently denying a person a firearm resulting in injury from being unable to defend themselves should be just as allowable! You cant have one with out the other! Perhaps even the 'parents' of members of the 'Brady bunch' could be sued for possibly, inadvertently,  having sex and producing morons!)
Brady Bill will expire Monday
Despite the widespread support, the 10-year-old federal ban on the manufacture and importation of semiautomatic assault weapons appears certain to expire at midnight Monday. Gun-control advocates, including the ban’s main sponsor, Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., say there’s one reason why the National Rifle Association.(Americans should thank the NRA for providing some common sense. "Semi-Automatic Assault Weapons" are right up there with the other media hype vapour arms, such as semi-automatic revolvers, 12 ga. rifles, and AK74's.. If criminals want 'real' assault weapons, take my word for it, they will have No trouble getting them even though they are currently, and will 'still' be banned after the 13th.. I just wish Canada had an NRA, perhaps we would have 250 or so more MRI machines in hospitals, instead of our very own billion dollar  'gun farce')
The ultimate case against disarmed victim zones
The unspeakable terrorist takeover of a Russian school that left hundreds dead and wounded this week drives home the point that in the war of terror, there is no such place as a non-combat area. The experts call them "soft" targets - office towers, commuter trains, commercial airliners and now a school full of children. They are places filled with innocent and unsuspecting people suddenly turned into the pawns of ruthless killers. Friday morning the school became a slaughterhouse as gunfire and explosions broke out and security forces stormed the building. Early reports put the death toll at more than 150, with hundreds more wounded. Once the authorities rushed into the school, the casualties rose. But whether the deaths were at the hands of the terrorists, or inadvertently caused by the rescuers, the blame certainly lies with those who took the hostages.(Will Russia now do what it being done in Israel and Taiwan, arm the teachers? The irony here of course is that 'teachers' are generally the ones wanting firearms banned.. How long will it be before things like this start to happen in North America? A couple of 'nut case' kids, and one 'nut case asshole' turned Columbine and Montreal into blood baths, because the tools for self defence were denied to the victims. . People die because of slow police responses, and when weapons are 'only' available to the mental defectives)
Hypocrisy: ''Kerry Co-Sponsored Bill Banning Gun He Waves''
BannedShotgun
Was Dem presidential hopeful John Kerry seen this weekend waving a gun which would have been banned if legislation he co-sponsored became law? Kerry co-sponsored S. 1431 last year (“The Assault Weapons Ban and Law Enforcement Protection Act of 2003) which would have banned a "semiautomatic shotgun that has a pistol grip.” Kerry was presented with the gun during a Labor Day stop in Racine, West Virginia. [It is not clear if Kerry completed the required paperwork (Form 4473) before he claimed the gun. Kerry's gun bill would also ban any "gift" transaction.] "I thank you for the gift, but I can't take it to the debate with me," Kerry told a cheering crowd as he held up the device. Photos show Kerry's hand resting on the semiautomatic shotgun's "pistol grip." Kerry's bill would ban millions of semi-automatics, including those with "pistol grips." [Section SEC. 2; (H) (ii)] Opponents of the bill successfully argued how nearly all guns have "pistol grips," including millions of Browning Auto-5 shotguns produced since 1903.(Kerry, doing what 'any' liberal does, and that's 'say anything', do anything, and/or  outright lie.. to get elected.. Kerry is 'on the record' for voting against ANYTHING concerning hunting, firearms, and military.. But is actively seeking the firearm vote by constantly going out of his way 'trying' to portray himself as a hunter, and in favour of gun rights in the USA.. He thinks American gun owners are so stupid they will vote for him if they see him shoot at a few clay birds.. He insists he's a "hunter".. Well, if he's a hunter why did The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS), which is adamantly opposed to all hunting, recently endorsed "hunter" John Kerry for President, calling him "a strong advocate and supporter of pro-animal legislation". Why? because this man is an obvious liar, and only interested in 'removing' the rights of gun owners. If Kerry gets elected in the U.S., I wonder how much money will be wasted on 'their' gun registry before common sense prevails?)
Time to start teaching gun safety in schools
One hurdle to implementing objective gun safety programs seems to be the fact that the single largest gun safety educator in the United States is the National Rifle Association. Indeed, the organization the media love to hate provides the curriculum for the majority of hunter safety courses around the country. It also offers a K-12 curriculum called the Eddie Eagle GunSafe Program. The New York Times and others have deemed Eddie Eagle akin to Joe Camel, nothing more than a marketing tool to lure young minds into the "gun culture." Nothing could be further from the truth. Eddie Eagle is a highly respected program that has absolutely nothing to do with shooting sports or the Second Amendment. It teaches kids four simple steps should they find a gun: Stop. Don't touch. Leave the area. Tell an adult.(But wait!! To any thinking person, this makes sense, and both school systems in Canada would ban it for that very reason! When it comes to guns, "Keep em Ignorant Keep em Safe" still seems to be the prevailing thought. Last night, CLT (Canadian Learning Television) rebroadcast part one, of "The story of the gun". A 2 hour historical look at the evolution of firearms and how they changed the world. There was a  "Big Yellow Warning"  between every break that this program contained 'Adult Content' and was not for children. It was not 'gory', it was not part of the other taboo, 'sexual',  it was simply about the evolution of the evil gun. It even explained why guns might be thought of as evil! It would seem that at one time after rifling was discovered, a devil was thought to ride each bullet, and this explained the whining sound of the speeding bullet, and any ricochet that occurred as the devil screaming while riding the bullet.. It would seem that 'some' folks have not evolved much beyond 'that' point in time! Part two will no doubt be on sometime soon, and I would recommend everybody see it as a family!)
U.K FARMER MARTIN: COMMON SENSE HAS WON
Farmer Tony Martin was jailed after shooting two intruders who were trying to break into his Norfolk home. Now the 60-year-old has spoken to the Post for the first time since being released to back a fellow farmer who has escaped prosecution after an alleged burglar was shot on his property. When police were called to reports of an intruder having been shot at Kenneth Faulkner's isolated Derbyshire farm, the echoes of the infamous Tony Martin case were obvious. Both men were farmers, both worked on isolated farms, and both apparently reached for a firearm when intruders entered their properties. Mr Martin, 60, was released from jail last year after serving two thirds of a five-year-sentence for manslaughter after shooting 16-year-old Fred Barras, from Newark, in the back. He also wounded Barras' accomplice Brendon Fearon, also from Newark, during the raid in August 1999. Four years later, on August 6 this year, Kenneth Faulkner found himself in a similar position. Apparently the victim of several previous burglaries, he found an intruder near his garage at Keys Farm, off Nottingham Road, near Risley, on August 6. Police said he rang them saying he had "discharged" a shotgun before the man fled. Officers arrived and a man was found nearby with slight pellet injuries. Both men were arrested while police carried out further investigations, but last week Derbyshire Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) said it had decided not to press charges against Mr Faulkner. Today Tony Martin spoke to the Post for the first time since being released from jail - and welcomed the decision. "Common sense has prevailed," he said. Anna Zimand, head of the trials unit at Derbyshire CPS, confirmed no charges would be pressed against Mr Faulkner. "On this occasion we have made the decision not to charge Mr Faulkner on the basis that a prosecution would not be able to demonstrate, to the high standard of proof required in criminal proceedings, that he had committed an unlawful assault," she said. "I would stress that our decision was reached only after taking into account the particular circumstances of this incident. "It does not mean that anyone using violence against an intruder is above the law and would not face prosecution."(Not to allow people to defend themselves is absurd. If the government says you can't defend yourself, and must call the police, the police should be criminally responsible if they can't protect you. If they can't protect you, why should you be prosecuted for providing your own protection.)
Utah May Have Record Number of Concealed-Weapons Revocations
Gun dealers say denials and revocations often are overturned. "Protective orders expire, warrants are usually unpaid parking tickets or something really minor and correctable," said Jeff Spencer, co-owner of Kent Shooters Supply in Ogden. Spencer is suspicious of the numbers. "The only thing that's really solid are criminal records, and guys who know they aren't going to get a gun don't come in here. ... We've had no more denials than usual." Davis, Weber, Box Elder and Morgan counties combined account for 19 percent of the concealed-weapons permits in Utah. The recent numbers show there are 59,565 concealed-weapons permits in the state. More than 30 percent are in Salt Lake County. Firearm sales are on pace for about 64,000 weapons purchases this year. The numbers could rise slightly with the expiration of one federal law, Spencer said.
On Sept. 25, dealers will be able to sell ammunition magazines larger than 10 rounds. During the last 10 years, it has been illegal to manufacture magazines that hold more than 10 bullets, except for use by police or military personnel. "The whole point of that law was to reduce crime and it didn't," Spencer said. "It's a stupid law and did nothing. That tells you how out-of-touch the lawmakers were. "We'll have a few people come in here to buy these, but not that many. The magazines (that hold more than 10 rounds) made before '94 are legal and they work just fine. ... It's just been more expensive for customers." (Whenever 'government figures' come into play, you can always be assured that they will reflect whatever the government wants them to reflect. Canada is no different. The CFC continues to brag about all the licences they have turned down, but have done nothing to try and collect the firearms from those 'turned down'. They continue to spout the 7,000,000 guns and 3,000,000 owners in Canada lie, when in fact there are closer to 21,000,000 guns and 7,000,000 owners. But, 'those' numbers would confirm the massive non compliance, and uselessness of the law which they will not allow to be challenged in court. losing the court challenge of course, would be a embarrassment to the Liberals, not to mention confirming the waste of over a billion dollars on this farce. Nope, they will just continue the theory, that if you repeat a lie often enough, folks will start to believe it.. They hope! It actuality, they are just whistling in the graveyard, only the bureaucrats, 'some' liberal politicians, and politically motivated organization currently support this farce, and no one 'really' believe its going to decrease 'any' crime rate! )
American shooting death-rate sadly out of step with world
A young Japanese woman who's been living in Atlanta for the past decade recently delivered some enlightenment on America's culture of fear and firearms. The newly-single woman I'll call Yoko laments to being "limited in where I can go as a female." But not to fear fear itself, adds Yoko: Those cheeky Beatles had it right -- happiness really is a warm gun. "I finally learned how to shoot," she enthuses, as if tackling an essential skill such as driving, reading or breathing. Hope for a foot-loose and fancy-free lifestyle just kept building. "I just went to the shooting range recently, too. I was good." Take cover and pass the ammunition along with that citizenship application form. Meanwhile, wimpy Canadians can't work up enough fear to weaponize their handbags and briefcases. The cowards. "Just about everybody here owns a gun, even females," Yoko adds, clearly happy to have joined the gun club. Needless to say, this mentality is also a solar system away from the one in her Asian birthplace. "Now I'm going to the gun shop to find a handgun that suits me," she added.
We're even hearing how George W. Bush's failure to follow through on his promise to renew his country's assault weapons ban that expires Sept. 13 is no big deal. Semi-automatic weapons military-styled to spray rounds from the hip are set to once again legally flood the market. Expect the flow of firearms smuggled over the border to Canada to be salted with them -- something no Canadian gun registry can do anything to stem.
(Yup, he said it, "Semi-automatic weapons military-styled to spray rounds from the hip are set to once again legally flood the market. " As opposed to what? Semi automatic 'hunting' rifles which have far more power, and range than virtually any of the 'semi's' banned in the U.S.A. ? And on and on this article blathers, full of paranoia, and hoplophobic 'information' This guy, truly is a believer that a woman is much better off being raped, than owning a 'gasp' gun... His numbers and statistics are the usual ones spouted regarding the large number of firearms deaths in the U.S. every year, but like others, always fail to mention that if you take any city larger than the largest Canadian city, or even just the 'criminal' deaths from drug wars, rip-offs etc., out of the equation, the firearm death rate is no worse than Canada's, and in many states, much lower than any Canadian province. Particularly high gun ownership states bordering Canada, like Dakota, and Vermont. He also fails to mention that as the violent crime rate in the U.S. is falling dramatically, violent attacks on unarmed Canadians have risen every year that the U.S. rate has fallen. Why is this guy writing for the Calgary Sun? I think he would be more at home at the Toronto Star. Instead of ridiculing this young woman for not wishing to become a victim, he should be asking  why so many Canadian women are willing to continue be raped, murdered, and beaten, all for the sake of 'political correctness')
Trooper kills dog after being bit
Arlene Elia, a good Samaritan from Ocean County who stopped to help the dog, said she was horrified to witness the shooting by Trooper David Robbins of the Bass River barracks. Elia filed a complaint with both the State Police and the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. But officials from both agencies said it was unlikely the trooper would be second-guessed. Rhodes said a full investigation will be conducted by the SPCA, and he expected all witnesses to the incident, which happened about 2:30 p.m. Sunday in the northbound lanes at milepost 67, will be interviewed. Sgt. John Quinlan said the State Police also will conduct an inquiry, as is typical whenever a firearm is discharged. He said Robbins fired one shot after he was bit on the left elbow. He said the dog latched onto the trooper's arm and refused to let go. "I'm sure 20 people driving by saw it," Quinlan said. "Half of them probably thought it was horrible and half thought, 'What are you supposed to do?' I'd like to see what her attitude would be if the dog was hanging onto her." (Indeed!)
Pit bulls don't chew babies; people chew babies
Last weekend two pit bulls were being looked after by a friend of the owner. While walking the dogs down a quiet street at 3:00 a.m., the dogs suddenly turned on the 25-year-old man for no apparent reason and viciously attacked him. It took two police officers firing 16 rounds to bring the dogs down and save the man’s life. In light of those events, and other horrific incidents involving pit bulls, both the city of Toronto and the province of Ontario are considering legislation to ban the animals, at least from built up or urban areas. And naturally the issue is divisive. Analogies to guns, most of which do not hold up are constantly being made. At least the federal government isn’t getting into the act--we would end up with another multi-billion dollar registry which, like the gun registry would serve no other purpose than to make the government and the sheep that follow them think that they have accomplished something. Dogs are not guns. As is being pointed out, guns are inert objects; they don’t think or react. Guns are only dangerous when a person decides to handle or use one. And as long as the gun works, the consequences of its actions are well known and predictable. This is not so with animals and a case in point was the attack last week. The pit bulls in question had never caused problems before. They were acquainted with the person who was walking them on that quiet street in the middle of the night--some reports describe the man as having been the dogs’ breeder. Out of the blue and with no way to predict that it was coming, the dogs simply attacked. (I wonder how many of those 16 rounds fired by the officers even hit the dogs? Many police officers only fire their weapons during mandatory qualification periods, and as such do not have good accuracy skills particularly under high stress situations, when even skilled shooters would falter. I'm  a firm believer, that if anyone is sanctioned to carry a handgun, they MUST fire at the very least, a  minimum of 2000 rounds a year from that firearm. 2000 rounds a year is a laughable small amount of ammunition to 'any' competitive shooter, less than a box of .40s&w or 9 mm a week. But, it would be a hell of a lot more practice than many officers, that must carry a firearm, get now. It would only make them, and you, safer!)
Off-Duty Detroit Police No Longer Required to Carry Guns
"If you're off-duty and you're carrying a weapon and you make an arrest, you may be subject to a field sobriety test. And remember that outside of the city of Detroit, officers only have the rights of normal citizens," said Fields. Police-union officials want to explore the change further. "We've asked for a meeting to find out where the department is coming from," said Sgt. James Gawlowski, president of the Detroit Police Lieutenants and Sergeants Association. "Our position is that officers are on duty 24 hours a day, and seven days a week." Ron Scott, spokesman for the Detroit Coalition Against Police Brutality, supports the policy change. "I think it reduces the potential for violence," he said. "I think off-duty officers should not even have the option of carrying a gun."(Ohhhhh Police are a 'source' of violence according to 'braindead Ron'. A LOT of officers are known to the 'bad guys' as police officers.. And, I'm sure all those bad guys wouldn't think of targeting a off duty police officer KNOWING that he would be unarmed.. Hopefully the off duty cop won't get shot before he saves 'Ron' eh!)
Manila cop killed in freak mishap
A 49-year-old police investigator, who had solved a number of sensational cases, died in a freak accident while cleaning his service firearm in Sampaloc, Manila the other day. Senior Police Officer 3 Solomon Bataller Jr. of the Western Police District’s homicide section died from two bullet wounds while inside his residence at 679-A Felina street in Sampaloc. Bataller was cleaning his service firearm, a caliber .9mm, went it accidentally went off. The bullet hit his chin and exited on the bridge of his nose. As the gun hit the ground, it fired again, this time hitting him in the chest. Colleagues of Bataller at the homicide section were shocked at the sudden demise of their friend and mentor, whom they say shared his expertise in the police aspect of crime investigation.  Bataller gained recognition at the WPD for his dedicated police work and prompt solution of sensational crimes, including the celebrated rape-slay of a five-year-old girl in Sampaloc four years ago. His body now lies in state at his residence. Interment will be announced soon.(You would think that a experience police officer would have the basic knowledge of how to unload a firearm 'before' cleaning it.. But then again, most people who are accidentally shot, were shot with the proverbial 'unloaded gun')
Toronto Police Officer sentenced for sexual assault
Also threatened to kill a planeload of passengers
HAMILTON (CP) -- A Toronto police officer who sexually assaulted a flight attendant and threatened to kill a planeload of passengers was stripped of his duties, suspended without pay and sentenced to jail Wednesday.
Ontario Court Justice Robert Weseloh sentenced Const. Amarjit Singh Grewal to four months for sexual assault and three months for threatening death. The sentence is to be served concurrently. Justice Weseloh also sentenced Grewal to one day for assaulting another flight attendant.  About 30 minutes into the 3-hour flight, Grewal placed his right hand into the air like a gun and shouted, "You have no idea what I can do to all of these people on the plane. I could ... blow them away.'' The flight attendant, who cannot be identified under a court order, tried to keep Grewal occupied and away from other passengers for more than two hours, court heard.
Grewal pushed her into a window seat, pressed up against her, and began to stroke her face while speaking in a foreign language. He told her that he wanted to jump on her and have sex. He later touched her breast and put his hand down her pants into her underwear. Weseloh said the woman, who continues to suffer from nightmares and post-traumatic stress syndrome, displayed "phenomenal courage." She hasn't returned to her duties at WestJet and is in therapy. Grewal was also given three years probation, must submit a DNA sample, and is barred from carrying firearms for 10 years. He must take part in rehabilitation programs for anger management and substance abuse, and is not allowed to board an aircraft in Canada without approval from his parole officer.
The 15-year veteran officer of the Toronto Police Service also faces five Police Act charges, which will be dealt with through a tribunal after his sentence. He will likely lose his job(?). (Ahh 'concurrent sentences.. Aren't they wonderful, it's like a two for one sale, a real deterrent.. even though he only used his finger pointed like a gun while committing these offences, you also have to realize 'this' nut-case was walking the streets with a 'sanctioned' handgun.. Tell me again how C-68 is keeping us all safer, by keeping firearms out of the hands that should not have them, even cops? )
Tribunal told of plan to shoot Chrétien
White supremacists discussed shooting then prime minister Jean Chretien and blowing up government buildings and Jewish temples in Internet chats intercepted by London, Ontario, police, a human rights tribunal has been told. The dramatic conversations marked the second day of an increasingly contentious hearing into hate Web sites. "Do you know Chretien is barely guarded? His police are a joke," wrote a supremacist with the code name WPCanada. "I have been like two feet from him and I never had a gun." "Lightning quick action and boom, he's a goner," replied a person called Hauser. "I will never make that mistake again," WPCanada vowed. (As much as many Canadians would have liked to see 'King Jean' out of politics, No rational person settles anything, but their own defence, with a firearm.  The fact that no one has assassinated a politician in Canada for generations speaks volumes about the type of society we live in.. Most Canadians don't really 'need' firearms, but then most Canadian don't really 'need' televisions either. The fact that Millions of Canadians own firearms, and 99.99999% of them NEVER threaten anyone with them, is proof to all but the most paranoid that firearms ARE NOT a problem in Canada, but sometimes, 'assholes' are!)
Biker gangs infiltrate Armed Forces
MONTREAL - Canadian military investigations have found biker gangs could be using soldiers to gain access to weapons or expertise that would be useful in street warfare. Armed Forces officials have been looking into possible links between groups such as the Hells Angels and the military after eight pairs of night vision goggles were stolen from CFB Valcartier near Quebec City last year. "Some information suggests that a very few may have those linkages," said military spokesperson Mark Giles. "We're talking about a range of things, including a bumper sticker or sympathies in that direction." Biker recruitment ongoing Biker experts with the Quebec police force agree that biker gangs have been trying to recruit Canadian soldiers because of their special training in explosives and guns. Former Sûreté du Québec investigator, Guy Ouellette, said police have known about links between the two groups for a long time. "Since 1998 we have had contact with military police about names that popped up during investigations of motorcycle gangs." The military does not prohibit soldiers from associating with bikers, as that would be an infringement on their civil rights. Giles says soldiers are punished if they cross the line and take part in criminal offenses.(Well, why not! they certainly have access to the firearms databases by now, for both civilian, military, and thanks to ongoing liberal stupidity and waste, they will soon have access to all the Police armament data as soon as that's recorded as well... As long as soldiers that live on a base, live in substandard housing, and receive substandard pay, some of them 'may' be tempted by lucrative offers. They all know a 'rabbit' when they see one! Of course, someone 'will' have to explain the term 'rabbit' to the vast majority of politicians)
Bullet-Proof Vehicles for Sale
The San Antonio-based company, the world's leading manufacturer of bullet-proof cars, is also eying markets in Uganda, Democratic Republic of Congo and other Central African countries. All the countries are in the Great Lakes region, reputed to have the worst gun crime record in Africa due to an influx of small arms occasioned by civil strife. Crime experts say small arms, such as pistols and AK-47 rifles, are normally smuggled into Kenya from Uganda, the stateless Somalia, the Congo, Ethiopia and the Sudan. The use of firearms is reported in almost every crime committed in Kenya, especially in urban centres. An average of five gun deaths are reported daily throughout the country. And carjackers, who are normally armed with pistols and AK-47 rifles, snatch an average of seven vehicles on Nairobi streets every night. In July, police commissioner Mohammed Hussein Ali said crime - especially carjackings - had gone down due to recent changes in the force, in which new officers were deployed to various stations. He said the only problem bothering law enforcement officers were the gangs hijacking matatus at night, while posing as commuters. But he said police had started measures to wipe out the gangs from public service vehicles.(Well, If Wendy and her roving "coalition of idiots" (Parrish the thought..ha..) were to 'help out' in this country, all 'law abiding' citizens would be disarmed, and the criminals would enjoy more of the freedom to rape, rob, and murder, as the criminals in 'disarmed' Canada, Australia, and the U.K. are quickly discovering.  Why would this be happening? Because OUR government has indicated, it's the 'GUNS' not the criminals that are at fault, and if we could only get rid of the guns, we could all join hands and sing kumbia.. )
