GUN CONTROL:
The theory that a woman found dead in an alley, raped and strangled with her panty hose, is somehow morally superior to a woman explaining to police how her attacker got that fatal bullet wound.

Please excuse any late postings, 'sometimes' earning a living to pay the taxes that these assholes squander, becomes a necessity.

Canada 'clearly unready' for potential disasters:
But God Dammit, were safe from Duck Hunters!
OTTAWA - Poor co-operation among all levels of governments and chronic underfunding of emergency response workers have left Canada unprepared for potential disasters, according to a new Senate committee report.  The committee on national security and defence, which has been studying the issue for more than two years, says Canada is repeating its history of "muddling through" when it comes to its preparedness for man-made or natural crises.  "The fact that Canada was unprepared for two world wars cost us many young lives. The fact that we are clearly so unready for a wide variety of potential disasters could cost us even more lives," the report states. (God help us if we ever have to fight a war with these clowns at the helm.. Where would we borrow all the equipment we need, who would get us there? If they have 'rust seeking' missiles were done. Nothing to do, but try and escape in our fleet of 'land king' helicopters.. 30 years of Liberals have all but destroyed our military, but 'Liberal Ad Agencies' and the rest of their friends are doing very well, thank you!.. Remember, these are the same guys that will gladly fork out 'thousands' to their lawyer friends to make sure a Canadian Soldier goes into debt to pay back a 50 buck a day per diem error.. Their new logo, 'should be a big hand reaching into your pocket with the words "Me First" tattooed on it )
Bali, Madrid, Istanbul, could Canada be next in terror's crosshairs?
TORONTO: A mean-eyed cop in a flak jacket scans passengers flocking off Toronto's subway system in the morning rush, a gun gleaming menacingly on his belt. In the new age of terror, in New York, London, or now Madrid, extra security measures would not merit a second look. But in Toronto? Few Canadians believe their country, known for landmine bans, blue helmetted peacekeepers and opposing the US invasion of Iraq, is in terror's crosshairs. But in a report issued Tuesday, Canada's Auditor General Sheila Fraser warned terrorists could exploit gaps in the country's defenses, despite a 7.7 billion dollar (US$5.8b) security drive after the September 11 attacks. Some experts are also warning that Canada may not be 100 percent safe. On November 12, 2002, in a tape attributed to al-Qaeda mastermind Osama bin Laden, Canada was listed as a US ally selected for attack, along with Britain, France, Italy, Germany and Australia. Every country on that list has so far been attacked, or foiled a plot against its interests - except Canada. "There is one thing about al-Qaeda, they tend to make good on their threats. It's really a matter of time," said John Thompson, director of the Mackenzie Institute, a security think-tank.(Attacking Canada, might not be in their best interest. Right now, according to our own auditor general, security is minimal. Even though the Liberals have 'miss' spent 'another' bunch of billions of dollars, terrorists would have no problem entering the country. How much of this money went to 'liberal buddies'? For an example of how easy it is o enter Canada illegally, have a look at the crime reports in Toronto. How many times do you have to deport someone? Many criminals being arrested or simply 'wanted' again,  have been deported 2-3-4 or even 'more' times and back they come, as if a huge rubber band was fastened to their ass. Terrorists are 'hopefully' not likely to attack Canada, because if the liberals really did beef up security, al-Qaeda would only have a tougher time accessing the target they 'really' want, and thats our neighbour to the south. Nope, I doubt if their gonna shit in their own bed!)
Federal government's whistleblower legislation does not go far enough to protect civil servants who go public.
The new whistleblower bill lacks key elements that would make it effective. First, it fails to cover all government employees. Political staff, including cabinet ministers' assistants, are excluded from the act, despite the fact (or likely because of the fact) they are often uniquely placed to expose political meddling. Second, the bill does not allow public employees to blow the whistle any time they witness wrongdoing, instead requiring employees to exhaust a department's internal process for dealing with wrongdoing before complaining to the whistleblower protection agency. Such internal processes can take years, during which time the employee might have to endure harassment or even firing. (This is how the Liberals will protect themselves from exposure. Whistle blower legislation should cover ALL governmental employees, AND if they have to make complaint 'internally' first, they should be able to register a 'letter of intent' with the protection agency when they begin the process, just to make sure they have their asses covered. Unfortunately, the 'only' way to cover an ass in Ottawa, is to toss a blanket over a liberal!)
Chrétien assails Martin in a most diplomatic tone
Ottawa — Jean Chrétien has decided to fight back. The former prime minister is firing a warning shot at Prime Minister Paul Martin, accusing him publicly — if obliquely — of "paralyzing" the Liberal Party by sapping public confidence and trust in it. That warning comes in a speech to be delivered today to the Commonwealth Foundation in London. The text, a copy of which has been obtained by The Globe and Mail, is couched in diplomatese. (It is simply not done for a former prime minister to openly criticize the government outside the country.) Nonetheless, the speech is clearly written for a Canadian as much as a foreign audience, and deals with the civil war between the Chrétien and Martin wings of the Liberal Party as much as with problem-solving in a multilateral framework."In life and politics, I am someone who believes in solving problems, in accentuating the positive," Mr. Chrétien states, ostensibly in reference to the Commonwealth and the United Nations, "in defending institutions ..... that have been developed by the wise people who preceded us — especially defending them against armchair critics who would only notice faults. "Fault-finding is very easy," Mr. Chrétien concludes. "But it is paralyzing. It saps confidence and trust. I am not a fault-finder. I am a doer."(Let me get this straight! Chrétien the doddling old fart, that for ten years publicly embarrassed Canadians from sea to sea, that was involved in so many scandals, so much corruption, so much patriotism, that his only saving grace is that there was so much of it, most can't remember all the details? To him, and his self appointed 'ethics councillor' this is success? His last comment "I  am not a fault finder, I am a doer" is certainly backed up by his most famous statement during the Trudeau years " The government should not give previous warning of its actions but act and  explain things later.".. This has been the corner stone of his dictatorship, except that the explanations were always given in 'Chrétienees', or some other political babble that meant absolutely nothing. He would simply 'form another committee', then end it abruptly when it looked like they were coming too close to the truth. My personal opinion? This man is a devious, lying, back stabbing, old bastard that will stop at nothing to get what he wants. Thank Christ he no longer leads this country, but now only harasses it from the sidelines. Hopefully, most of his Liberal party will join him in retirement after the next election, because if the Liberals get back in power there is truly no hope left, and we might as well join the U.S. ! )
Ronald Brown Jnr - Hooked on the gun
From the moment his neighbour, William Twaites, introduced him to the range at the Jamaica Rifle Association, Ronald Brown Jnr was hooked to the powerful energy of the gun. He was mesmerised by the booming sound when fired, the power, the feel, and most of all, the competitive edge it offers in sport. Yet, according to Brown, Jamaican shooters who compete globally in tournaments are comparable to the bobsled team going off to snow-laden, cold Canada to compete against teams, which are culturally conditioned to the sport. "The competitions are stiff as most of the other shooters are culturally acclimatised. In fact, we are always at a disadvantage, in terms of practice rounds. Basically, our competitors shoot about 60,000 to 100,000 rounds per year individually and added to that there is a match they can compete in every weekend, compared to us, who, individually, don't even use 10,000 practice rounds per year, and we can only afford to compete three to four times per year. If we had the backing, we'd be off competing all the time, which would enhance our skills," he explains, adding that the sport is costly.(A couple of Jamaican shooters were visiting our club a few weeks ago, they told me that a licence is $3000.00 (jamaican) and they are allowed to 'personally' purchase no more than 50 rounds per year, however at the range, there is no limit, you just can't take them away.. Hundred of people are shot by criminals in Jamaica every year, as you can plainly see, strict gun control has the same results there as anywhere else. The disarming of the law abiding always result in more crime, and a much easier life. For the criminal!)
A 'DECADE' of Failure
This is a small portion of the speech delivered by Opposition Leader Stephen Harper in the House of Commons on Wednesday, March 24, in answer to  the Paul Martin government's federal budget.(Enough is Enough. The sooner these pork barrelers are gone, the better!)
Robber's death could mean charges for T.O. man
A Toronto clothing store owner who apparently fought off robbers, leaving one dead, could face criminal charges a a result, legal experts say.  However, the police say the investigation is still in its early stages. "We have to keep an open mind to all possibilities of what occurred in the store," said Detective Sergeant Frank Skubic. According to witnesses, the owner of Manhattan's Fine Clothing store --located in the east Toronto suburb of Scarrborough, and which specializes in hip-hop clothing -- ran into a neighbouring shop around 2 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon.  Known only as 'Freddie' so far, the 29-year-old was desperate for help. "He said 'call 911' so I did. I saw the blood on his face ... he didn't say anything else," said neighbor Harry Lue.(It would be a terrible experience to have to kill someone, but self defence is self defence.. If these guys came into the store 'armed' or simply out numbering a potential victim, he has every right to defend himself EXACTLY the same as ANY police officer has. If someone has a gun, and is threatening me, ANYTHING I do from that point on is SELF DEFENCE. There are a number of DEAD business people (and customers) in Toronto who have been robbed several times previously to being killed. What do business people have to do? DIE each and every time a thug tries to rob them? ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. When this storekeeper is acquitted, a strange thing will happen! HE WILL NEVER GET ROBBED AGAIN! The death of this robber was due ENTIRELY to an obvious flaw in his victim selection process, and you can bet your ass that his cowardly friends will learn from his mistake)
Code of silence enshrouds Toronto gun murders
As gun crimes escalate in Toronto -- nine of the city's 14 homicides as of late March involved guns -- police are struggling to cope with a wall of silence. After her son's murder, Julia Farquharson helped create United Mothers Opposing Violence Everywhere, bringing together mothers whose children died violent deaths. The mothers are mostly black, the murders mostly unsolved. "They told me they know who it is," Farquharson said. "But they say they don't have any evidence to arrest him. People say to me 'Lady, how come the police have a tape of your son, they hear him begging for his life and they can't make an arrest?'" Farquharson blames black youths' animosity toward the police.(Enjoying your new found "Culture of Safety"? "If it only Saves one Life it's worth it"? Well, C-68 and the Gun registry has been around for almost ten years, it's certainly 'cost' some lives, just when is it going to 'save' one?  Fantino's right, when he said it's of precious little use. A Billion Dollars could have saved a LOT of lives, if only it had not been wasted, as so much of our tax dollars have, by a Liberal Party who's motto has always been "Party - On" )
Gun Control and Crime
Study after study shows that increasing gun control laws leads to an increase in crime rather than a decline. You take away an individual's ability (and thereby right) to defend himself against hostility by a criminal, and you also take away his ability (and right) to resist authority (government).  By taking that ability away, you embolden the criminal, lower his occupational risks, lower the cost of getting into the business, and you open the field of criminality to more participants. If you make it easier, less costly, to become a doctor, then more people can and will become doctors. If you make it easier, less risky, to become a criminal, then more people will become criminals.  More criminals require more victims to support them, which means more crime. More crime results in the government calling for more gun control, which takes away more people's ability to defend themselves, which lowers the risks and costs of becoming a criminal, and you have not a symbiotic relationship, but a vicious cycle. But to what end?(To what end indeed? With 'self defence' itself becoming a crime in some countries, you have to wonder what motivates some legislators. What are they gaining at 'your' expense? In Canada it would seem, they are gaining 'money' and power over YOU. For example the Coalition for gun control is bought and paid for by the Liberal government to be a 'non governmental organization' or NGO. The Liberal government has bought and paid for a LOT of things that have put them in better control of your lives, and according the the crap now hitting the fan, financially better off.. Only the truly ignorant and stupid could consider anything these people say as 'truth'. Voting them back in in the next election will only encourage them to keep ripping you off, because it would seem that they can do absolutely 'anything' and still be elected.. Pretty sad eh?)
Safe-gun classes filling rapidly
West Toledo resident Barb Korn grinned yesterday as she picked up a silver Smith & Wesson revolver - holding it with both hands and aiming it. "I like this," she said, staring down the gun's sights. Ms. Korn, 60, was among nearly 25 people taking a 12-hour class at Cleland's Outdoor World on Airport Highway. The training is required in order to carry a firearm under Ohio's new concealed weapons law. "I was mugged previously, and I want to be able to defend myself," she said. "I will feel safer." The law, which goes into effect April 8, requires sheriffs to approve a concealed-handgun license if the applicant completes 10 hours of classroom training and two hours of live-fire training, pays a fee, and passes an exam. Lucas County Sheriff James Telb predicted that a couple thousand Lucas County residents would seek a permit.(If only Canadians were 'trusted' by their own government enough to protect themselves from the vermin of the streets.. But Noooo.. 'someone' (not you, your gonna be dead)  has to dial 911 so the 'chalk outline guy' can come and do his job.. This is called gun safety in Canada, it assures the criminal, that he will never be injured by your gun..)
Saving Minister McLellan
OTTAWA - Landslide Annie has it all. Power. Perks. People to perform her biding. Drivers to chauffeur her places. Government jets to fly on command. Budgets to approve or axe behind closed doors. But Anne McLellan has little chance to win back her seat in the upcoming federal election unless there's a startling reversal of Liberal fortunes in The West. But dejected Liberal organizers in Alberta still whisper Anne McLellan is a "dead minister walking" without an unanticipated surge in poll popularity. McLellan's election track record has never been particularly bright. She has never claimed victory by more than a 2% safety margin and the combined vote of the two right-wing parties, the merged enemy she now faces, would've defeated her three times in a row. McLellan, of course, doesn't see it that way. She makes all the right noises about every election being the toughest. And she looks in a strange place for help in winning the election -- the Conservative government of Premier Raalph Klein. "People are very concerned about what the Premier has said about violating the Canada Health Act," she told me Wednesday. "Ours is not a province without the means to support public health care. I would hope a province like Alberta has the means to try something novel as opposed to opting out of the Canada Health Act." I'd bet McLellan survives, despite being minister in charge of the maligned gun registry, as her Edmonton West voters opt to retain a pivotal place at the Cabinet table.(If Landslide Annie beats Laurie Hawn, it will only be because liberals are secretly stuffing ballot boxes. she has NEVER 'really' won any elections, and she a product of vote splitting.. The bitch is toast!)
LIBERALS HAVE NO IDEA HOW MANY GUNS OR WHAT TYPE OF GUNS POLICE HAVE DESTROYED OR HOW MUCH IT COST TAXPAYERS!
The Public Agency Regulations are not yet in full effect, therefore reporting the destruction of firearms is at the discretion of each police department.  The total number of firearms reported and confirmed on our systems as destroyed to date is: 49,447.  We have no report available with a breakdown by class of firearm and reporting police department.  Police departments are responsible for the destruction of firearms seized or turned in to them and the CAFC does not have a report of any associated cost.(Of course, any number they have would not include the firearms that 'vanished' during the time they were turned in or confiscated, to the time they were 'supposed' to be destroyed.. Some of them, are in all probability, back on the street, and would have been much safer hidden away  before the feds started intimidating little old ladies who still had their dead husbands guns in the attic!)
A Harper-lite budget
Martin economic document unveils risky strategy that is rich on austerity but poor on policy
Except for the infamous sponsorship program, Martin has maintained the bulk of his predecessor's initiatives. In particular, he has yet to address the issue of the gun registry in any meaningful way. Regardless of their support in principle for gun control, most Canadians have come to see the registry as the latest expensive monument to federal wastefulness and financial ineptitude. Last week, Martin bluntly admitted that patronage, as practised for decades by successive federal governments, including his own, has had a corrosive effect on public trust and political integrity.(Gee? Ya Think?... Martin believes Canadians are dumb enough to give the chicken coop back to the weasels for another four years of feasting, graft and corruption! Liberals have proven for generations, that they will 'say' anything  to get elected. Ontario's McGuinty is a prime example of that! They may have squashed the sponsorship program, but what about all the 'other' scandals and waste? The Shawinagan Fountain, the 100 million untendered personal corporate jets, the gun registry, the millions and millions given to prisoners and dead people in the 'liberal buy-your-vote heating 'rebate', the half billion down the drain in the military helicopter cancellations, the half billion in the airport contract cancellations, the misdirected, untraceable 'grants' in the HRDC, and the list goes on and on and on and on.. Look up 'Financial Waste'  in the dictionary,  did they print Paul Martins picture beside the word? Nope, but only because he wasn't there that day, he was out spending your money!)
MARTIN’S LIBERALS STILL COVERING UP FACTS ABOUT $2 BILLION GUN REGISTRY

“Prime Minister Martin supports Jean Chretien’s cover-up of the gun registry cost-benefit analysis by declaring it a Cabinet secret.  Deputy Prime Minister McLellan knows that providing real answers to my questions will expose her complicity in the cover up,” said Breitkreuz.  “The bureaucrats take their lead from the Minister and stonewall, delay or refuse to provide documents requested in over 450 Access to Information Act requests.  And the long suffering taxpayer keeps forking out billions for this pitiful performance.” “I asked 18 specific questions and 16 of them remain unanswered.  “How can they spend a billion dollars on the firearms program and not even have statistics to prove that it works?” asked Breitkreuz.  “A succession of Justice Ministers, including Anne McLellan, made very specific promises in Parliament about what the gun registry was supposed to cost and the results it was supposed to achieve.  Did they not think that they were going to have to provide proof that their billion-dollar boondoggle actually worked?” McLellan’s responses were high on rhetoric but she failed to back up her rhetoric with facts.  “It’s one thing to promise the firearms program is meeting ‘public safety objectives in a cost-effective manner’; but if she can’t defend her statements with hard data, why should anyone believe her?” asked Breitkreuz.  “The Liberals’ responses to my questions prove that all their promises about the firearms program were empty promises.  It also proves that we can’t believe a thing they say about the firearms program in the future.  The Liberals’ incompetence on the firearms file should tell all Canadians they aren’t fit to govern,” concluded Breitkreuz. (It's almost hilarious to listen to Liberal answer(?) questions.. They dance around, really not saying anything relevant at all, while leaving the person asking the question if the minister responding even has 'ears' to have actually heard the question in the first place.. What ever question is asked, they will simply babble on about 'some' conception of public safety or something totally irrelevant, simply it seems, to hear themselves speak, and take up any allotted time available for them to answer a question that they never answer! This is what we have for a government! The sooner their relegated to the opposition waaay in the back benches the sooner Canadians will get their country back from these clowns!)

The budget gospel according to St. Paul
BRACE YOURSELF! TODAY IS THE DAY PAUL MARTIN WILL ATTEMPT TO BUY YOUR VOTE IN THE NEXT ELECTION. MY ADVISE! TAKE WHAT HE GIVES YOU.  AS THE HIGHEST TAXED COUNTRY IN THE G-8  IT'S RIGHTFULLY YOURS ANYWAY.  THEN,  TELL HIM TO "PISS-OFF" AT THE VOTING BOOTH! YOUR NOT AS STUPID AS HIS GOVERNMENT THINKS YOU ARE.
Way back in 1997, they introduced Results For Canadians, a wildly optimistic framework for good government that would put citizen interests first through "discipline, due diligence and value for money in the use of public funds." Churlish as it is to revisit the past, it's hard to forget that since that purer-than-pure program became policy, taxpayers have witnessed scams, schemes and boondoggles, including the $100 million GST fraud, the billion-dollar gun registry, and, just this month, the theft of $160 million from the impoverished military. As Auditor-General Sheila Fraser tirelessly reminds the government, rip-offs are a fact of federal life, not because there are no rules but because bureaucrats break them, too often with a conspiratorial wink and nod from politicians. More troubling still, the list of those punished is far shorter than the list of horrors.(I'm sure Paul Martin will be signing 'more' cheques, and scattering 'your' dollars to the wind once again.. I wonder how many prisoners, and dead people will get one this time? It doesn't matter to Paul, because 'tax dollars' are not real money are they? You are not a taxpayer, your are simply a voter, and a 'funding unit' for what will be 'hopefully' a very short 'new era' of liberal graft, corruption, patronage, embezzlement, lies, denial, waste, and deceit! You know, 'Liberal Business as Usual' .. If the liberals really had a 'budget' in the true meaning of the word, 'someone' would have been in control.. According to 'Paul', although he wrote most of the last budgets. For some strange reason, he expects us to believe that he was kept totally in the dark about liberal money laundering! The simple fact that he intends to continue the waste of the Gun Registry' speaks volumes about his intentions. EVERYONE with the exception of a few lobby groups, concerned more about their own funding and concerns, have told Martin the registry is a totally useless, waste. Is he listening? No he is not! Why? because in the usual Liberal Arrogance, that they 'always' know much better than you about what's good for you,  he will plod on, against all advice, and pump another billion dollars into this liberal shit hole.. Why? because it's his Party, and you can cry if you want to. After all, YOUR simply a liberal 'funding unit' so shut the F***  up and do as your told! The ONLY thing that will return democracy to the people, is for the Liberals to get turfed out of office until the 'back bench attrition filter' does it's job and the thieves die off or retire. It worked for the Conservatives, there is absolutely no reason it won't work for the Liberals! )
Police seizing thousands Illegal guns out of control
This weekend alone, there were four armed robberies in the city. And, police say, the gun-wielding thugs are targeting vulnerable residents, in addition to businesses. Sunday night at around 7:20 p.m., a 56-year-old woman had a gun held to her head in the elevator of her Cooksville apartment building. Police say the man took cash and credit cards from her purse before fleeing the scene. Peel's Central Robbery Bureau, which handles robberies in which weapons were used, has already investigated 59 such cases this year. Last year at this time, the Bureau had just 29 cases under its belt. "This is going to sound terrible, but when our officers come in on a Monday, they almost expect to have four or more armed robberies to look into from the weekend," said Detective Sergeant Bruce Chapman, who heads Central Robbery. "That seems to be the norm these days...and it's disturbing."(A billion dollars taken from REAL crime fighting certainly has made life a little more dangerous for everyone. Can the useless assholes that form the liberal parties in this country please tell me why I should not be able to defend myself  'at any time' by using the same method that the criminal uses to put my life and the lives of many others in jeopardy? The majority of U.S. States have seen a drastic drop in violent crime by allowing trained and licensed citizens to carry a concealed firearm for public protection. Every anti gun group wailed to the media about road rage shootings, and "blood in the streets" of which none has happened. Only the paranoid fear law abiding firearms owners. Why are the paranoid running this country? If more criminals faced the reality of armed opposition, they would scurry away like the cowardly rats they are!)
The world according to Harper
OTTAWA—Will the new Conservative Party of Canada under Stephen Harper be Alliance Lite, or a serving of a reformulated Progressive Conservative brand, like, say, Classic Coke. In the absence of a policy platform endorsed by the grassroots members, the choice of Harper, a 44-year-old economist, is the closest indication Canadian voters have of what the new party stands for.Just what that is depends on what you want to see. In that regard, Harper is not all that different than Prime Minister Paul Martin. Harper, a former Tory worker, former Reform party policy guru and MP, and co-founder of this new party, is an unabashed small-c conservative, but has become more skilled at making a virtue of ambivalence, as is Martin's tendency.(Well, you can certainly tell this is an article from the Trudeau..er.. Toronto Star.. As usual, it starts out snide, and rather smug but by the end, they would have to be asking themselves why their 'still' a liberal newspaper.  Everything Harper stands for seems like good common sense! A refreshing breeze is pushing the hot air and bullshit out of Ottawa and the Toronto Star editorial policy 'has' to change or they will be left behind. Nobody  likes a Liberal Apologist!)
PM's 100-day milestone looks more like a millstone
The first 100 days in power for a new prime minister should be the best of times. There's the heady rush of fresh agenda-setting, the invigorating front-bench facelift and the giddy feel of giving established convention a stiff under-new-management shakeup. Not so for Prime Minister Paul Martin, who passes the milestone this weekend with a millstone clamped tightly around his neck. His was a 100-day hangover, not a honeymoon, as Martin fought the irresponsible squandering of public money, multiple abuses of parliamentary power and oft-tainted cronyism of his predecessor.(Well, slurping back $4500.00 bottles of 'ad agency brand - tax graft' wine 'will' make you feel pretty bad!.. But not nearly as much as the swift kick in the ass the taxpayers are gonna give the Liberals in the next election.. )
Federal Conservatives set for leadership vote

With the countdown to the leadership vote in its final moments, the Conservative Party revealed late Thursday that it is also getting set for a general election. A 26-page draft policy document obtained by CTV News revealed the party plans to add 20,000 soldiers, cancel the federal gun registry, create a Taxpayer Protection Act and an auditor for Medicare, should it form the next government. CTV's Joy Malbon reported the platform is the result of an eight-week effort by former Progressive Conservative Party leader Peter MacKay. "It was done very quickly in case there's a snap election," she said. (Its also a good bet that Canadians will finally get what communist China just got,  something Trudeau and 'his' Liberals nixed in the constitution, and thats THE RIGHT TO OWN LEGALY OBTAINED PROPERTY. Just like China....)
Stab-proof vests for guards nixed
(Canoe Link. May vanish in 24 hours or less)
EDMONTON -- Corrections Canada won't let guards at maximum-security prisons wear stab-proof vests because it sends a confrontational "signal" to prisoners, says a department spokesman. "If you have that kind of presence symbolized by (a stab-proof vest), you're sending a signal to the prisoner that you consider him to be a dangerous person," said Tim Krause. "It interferes with what we call 'dynamic security.' We want staff to talk to prisoners, to see how they're doing."(What kind of 'wonderland' do they get these "Department Spokesmen" from anyway? OF COURSE A PRISONER IN A MAXIMUM SECURITY PRISON IS A DANGEROUS PERSON.. Why the hell does this nitwit think their in prison in the first place? Good Grief!! No wonder we have a problem with our entire justice system)
Ottawa to change come 'hell or high water': Martin
OTTAWA - Prime Minister Paul Martin blasted the politics of the past Wednesday, saying he was committed to rapid and permanent changes to the way things are done in Ottawa. "The political process in Ottawa will never be the same again," Martin said in a speech in Quebec City. (A good flood of 'High Water' is what we need to flush the 'crap' out of Ottawa! Paul has seen the light? Paul is going to vote for Stephen Harper when he calls the election?  Good for you Paul!  Cuz it's the ONLY way things will 'ever' change in Ottawa. Eliminate patronage appointments.. ha.. Didn't you feed us that line of crap two or three 'red books' ago?)
Life sentence for teen who killed B.C. woman

Vojkovic told police that he bound the 39-year-old with duct tape and sexually assaulted her before taking her back into the family's home, where he slit her throat three times with a Swiss Army knife. Those slashes didn't kill her, so Vojkovic doused her and the house with gasoline and then set it on fire. An autopsy showed Findlay died of smoke inhalation in the fire, which also killed the Findlays' two dogs. Vojkovic fled in the family's SUV with $50 he had stolen from Findlay's purse. Police found him with a friend, smoking cigars he had taken from his victim's house. In passing sentence, Mr. Justice Jim Williams said the youth's actions defy comprehension and show "unspeakable evil." Findlay's husband, Dr. Jim Findlay, read a victim impact statement to the court shortly after Vojkovic entered his guilty plea on a first-degree murder charge Tuesday. He spoke of the horror his wife must have experienced before she died, and the panic their daughter went through as she waited in vain for her mother to pick her up from school that day. He said he could not forgive her killer. And now for the taste of REAL Canadian Justice that we have come to accept from the bleeding heart Liberal Justice System :"Vojkovic will be eligible for parole in seven years, the maximum allowable when a young offender's case is moved to adult court." (Doesn't THAT just make you feel warm and fuzzy all over.)
Ottawa to get tough on foreign fishing off East Coast

Minister Geoff Regan says Ottawa will spend nearly $18 million for patrols and boarding parties over the next five years. It's an effort to cut down on the number of foreign trawlers overfishing on the nose and tail of the Grand Banks. Some of the money Ottawa's spending will be used to bring the Cygnus, a mothballed Canadian Coast Guard vessel, back to life and to refit the Cape Roger for these patrols.Canadian Coast Guard Vessel (I can see it now! Our Canadian Coast Guard 'vessel' complete with 'outboard motor' siding up to foreign trawlers, angrily shaking a fist, mouthing some epitaphs, then backing off in a hail of laughter from the foreign trawler crew..  Has 'anyone' told the 'Honourable Minister' that the Canadian Coast Guard is 'UNARMED' and if trouble erupts they have to call a 'fisheries officer' What the hell kind of country has a 'UN ARMED COAST GUARD' Only in Canada eh!)
Security breach opens 1,400 Canadians to possible identity theft
VANCOUVER - Criminals have gained access to the detailed, personal credit files of about 1,400 people in Canada, sparking concerns of a major identity theft. Equifax, one of Canada's two major credit reporting agencies has confirmed a security breach. Criminals posing as credit grantors accessed files, including bank account numbers, credit histories and home addresses. The information stored in central locations by companies such as credit agencies, are a prime target for criminals. Valerie McLean of Vancouver's Better Business Bureau says once a criminal gains access to someone's credit file, they can essentially steal that person's identity. "They have your date of birth. They have your full name. They have your former names. They have your occupations. They have your address. And they know what financial institutions you're doing business with and what credit cards you hold." Equifax confirmed the security breach and says it has sent registered letters to the 1,400 people whose files were accessed. Vice-president Joel Heft says his company has never experienced anything of this magnitude before. While Equifax thought its system was secure before this happened, somehow criminals still accessed the private, personal information of 1,400 people. (And, if you think the 'gun registry' database is as secure as Equifax, you ARE as stupid as the government thinks you are. )
Judicial council asked to investigate Alberta judge's gun ruling
EDMONTON - Alberta Attorney General Dave Hancock says he is not pleased that a judge in the province gave a gun permit to a woman considered to be a suicidal alcoholic. Hancock says it will be up to Alberta's Judicial Council to decide whether any disciplinary action should be taken against the judge for his controversial ruling. Hancock says sometimes judges use more words than necessary to explain their rationale. "It, perhaps, is more flowery language and maybe extravagantly worded. Sometimes that happens; it's not for me to criticize the bench. We have a concept of independence in the judiciary and if people are upset with anything they see, as I say they have two routes, one is appeal and the other is appeal to the judicial council." Judge Don Demetrick overturned gun control officials and ordered that the woman, who is a moose hunter, be allowed to own a gun. Demetrick said people living in the forests of rural Canada need guns to protect themselves from bears and cougars. He also criticized Canada's gun laws, saying they force Canadians "to endure a gauntlet of bureaucratic scrutiny and time-consuming inconvenience" to get a gun permit. (The woman was 'considered' to be a suicidal alcoholic by a 'firearms officer' that based his 'RULING' on the 'opinion of a police officer, who's 'opinions' rightly mean nothing in a court of law. Can you imagine the oppressive police state we would be living under if the courts would always base decisions on a cops 'personal opinion'? Cops are people too, with all the prejudices, and failings everyone else has. His personal opinions are just that. What is actually pissing off the Alberta 'Just-Us' minister is the balls this particular judge had, to call a spade a spade, and screw 'political correctness'.  If the Alberta 'Just-Us' minister does not believe Canadians HAVE the right to self defence, let him pull his head out of his ass and say it publicly. Maybe 'then' Albertans will find out just what side of the fence this guy is really sitting on! You can read the complete judges decision here)
McLellan is in the Conservatives' crosshairs
Anne McLellan has ministerial titles in front of her name -- Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Public Safety. Before these jobs, she was minister of natural resources, minister of health and minister of justice, to say nothing of being Alberta's political minister in Ottawa. Politically speaking in Edmonton, however, her nickname is Landslide Anne. Ms. McLellan was supposed to lose every election since entering politics in 1993, but she never has. In 2000, her margin was a shade above 700 votes. It won't be any easier this time.  Laurie Hawn is the latest opponent to target Ms. McLellan, and at least in military terms, he knows something about targeting. Mr. Hawn, the Conservative candidate, spent 30 years in the Canadian air force, among other responsibilities as a fighter pilot for CF-18s. He was one of the first three airmen authorized to fly CF-18s in 1982. Campaign literature shows him a pilot's uniform in front of one of the planes.  Not surprisingly, Mr. Hawn deplores the state of Canada's military and vows his party will do something about it. He accepts that the new Liberal Defence Minister, David Pratt, "cares" about the military and will try to improve matters, but "he's going to be disappointed."  Mr. Hawn says he has received financial donations from six provinces and territories plus Canadians in four U.S. states. That's a small testament to how Edmonton Centre, with Anne McLellan in the bull's-eye, is one of the Conservatives' prime targets.(Landslide Annie could save a lot of time and embarrassment by cleaning out her desk right now..  Canadians don't want her, Canadians don't trust her. Without the fluke of vote splitting, she's doomed to be a political 'has-been' in a provence that has a hard time even 'saying' the word liberal without spitting..)
Alta justice minister says judge's ruling should not be seen as call to arms
(Canoe Link. May vanish in 24 hours or less)
EDMONTON (CP) - A judge's decision to allow a woman considered a suicidal alcoholic to keep guns for protection should not been seen as a call to arms, says Alberta's justice minister. Albertans do not need guns to protect themselves in their homes despite the provincial court judge's ruling, Dave Hancock said Tuesday. "We have good and safe communities and I hope people wouldn't take it as a call to go out and arm themselves to protect themselves in their homes," Hancock said. "That's not necessary in our society." (Perhaps not in his little 'itsybitsy spider infested, fisher price version of the real world'  But there are many that don't have that comfort. ) Hancock said he couldn't comment on a case that was still before the courts, but suggested anyone aggrieved by the judge's decision could file a complaint with the Judicial Council. Premier Ralph Klein called the decision "interesting" and said he personally does not believe Albertans need guns for self-protection. He declined to comment further. However, the national Coalition for Gun Control said the judge's observation that guns are needed for self-protection has no legal basis. Wendy Cukier noted urban residents are required by law to keep their guns unloaded and locked away. (It would seem that Wendy is now claiming she knows more about the law, than the Judge in this case! As usual Wendy is WRONG again.. Firearms only have to be 'stored' locked and unloaded.. There is nothing in Canadian law that says a firearm must be in storage 24 hrs. a day. You can take it from storage any time you wish, and for any purpose you wish.. Numerous court cases for unsafe storage have been thrown out because of the police not knowing the law! If you are 'with' the firearm, 'for whatever'  purpose, it is NOT in storage, and that could even mean keeping a loaded shotgun 'out of storage' for protection, right beside your bed at night.. You could unload it and put it back into storage at any time. Legally a firearms may not be kept in storage loaded, so, if its loaded and immediately available to you it's not in storage! I'm no lawyer, but in the 3+ years I've been writing this page, I've learned quite a bit about what you can and can not do with firearms, and as usual, Wendy 'the legal professor' is full of shit, and the courts have proven that time and time again)
Judge Says: Arm yourself against 'predators'
In a strongly worded defence of gun ownership, an Alberta judge has ordered government officials to give a firearms licence to a woman they felt was a suicidal alcoholic. People living in "the coniferous forests of rural Canada" are sometimes killed by bears and cougars if they don't have guns to protect themselves, provincial court Judge Don Demetrick said in a written judgment released Monday. "Similarly, in the concrete jungles of urban Canada, ordinary persons sometimes urgently require a firearm for use in lawful self-protection." The judge said such dangers include "the lethal attack of two-legged predators such as homicidal rapists or robbers, and of those mentally ill persons who on rare occasion engage in mass homicide for no rational reason." "Decent but defenceless urbanites die annually in Canada as innocent victims of criminal or mentally deranged violence in circumstances where their timely and lawful use of a firearm could have prevented or reduced the tragedy." The judge also took a shot at the federal Firearms Act, saying it forces Canadians who want to own guns "to endure a gauntlet of bureaucratic scrutiny and the time-consuming inconvenience of obtaining an official permit." But Jan Reimer, provincial co-ordinator of the Alberta Council of Women's Shelters, said there's no proof personal guns keep people safe. "We know from the experience in the United States that when everyone has a gun, the more people are killed. Often it's innocent bystanders," she said.(Jan Reimer has her head up her ass! If she didn't, she would be aware that every American state that issues 'carry permits' to citizens has had a REAL drop in Violent attacks, while state like Washington D.C. Which bans the legal ownership of guns, has the highest death rate in the western hemisphere. It also shows that "innocent bystanders" are killed far more often by police officers, than by concealed carry permit holders. As for Judge Don Demetrick? Why is this man NOT on the Supreme Court? He obviously knows bullshit when he hears, reads, and sees it! We NEED more judges willing to tell the Government their full of crap! It also looks like a VERY GOOD precedence setting case that will no doubt be referenced often in the future.)
Martin 'Scolds' Hockey!
(Canoe Link. May vanish in 24 hours or less)
That was pretty rich of Prime Minister Paul Martin telling hockey to "clean up your act." This is the guy who runs the Liberals. The tax dollars the Liberals have wasted on programs such as the gun registry, when added to the money they have given to their friends under the table, would be enough to buy the entire NHL. Then the Liberals could run all 30 teams as they see fit. (The downfall of the  Liberals will be caused by "Cross Checking" from the Auditor General's office!)
Calgary's billion dollar oil club
Now, observers say, Canada's world-leading firms are in the West and the great Canadian industry isn't booze or banking anymore, it's oil and gas. The biggest winner was EnCana. Already the biggest independent oil producer in North America, it earned nearly $2.4 billion last year. That's more money than the federal government has been blamed for wasting on the sponsorship scandal, the gun registry and the Ministry of Human Resource Development's so-called billion-dollar boondoggle combined.(News like this just highlight the disdain the Liberals have for the west. The West is the Lubricant that keeps the Ontario Machinery working. The incredible amount of money sucked out of the west by Ottawa, doesn't seem to have any importance to the Liberals at all! This is astounding!  Well, the 'west' may have all the oil, but the Liberals have certainly proved all the 'dipsticks' are in Ottawa!)
New Aussy Law To
Ban Swords
SWORDS will be outlawed from July under new laws to curb the growing use of the weapons in street brawls. Police Minister Andre Haermeyer said the ban would help police overcome a culture of young people arming themselves with swords. "For most people running around the street carrying swords there is absolutely no reason for them to be carrying those weapons," he said yesterday.  From July, anyone found possessing or selling a sword without a permit will face up to six months' jail and fines of up to $12,000. Existing sword owners must surrender their weapons to police, sell them to a licensed dealer or apply to the Chief Commissioner for specific approval. (Apparently no longer "can there be only 'one", at least in Australia.. The folks of black market enterprises non-incorporated, are in the process of sending 'thank you' cards to the government 'nitwits' that came up with this gem.. Swords will now proliferate as never before, demanding higher and higher prices, making more and more shady people 'very' rich.. Swords are MUCH easier to obtain world-wide than guns are anyway.. Now, Australians will sit back and wait for the inevitable banning of 'sticks and stones' After all, they 'do' break bones!)
Canada's Liberals May Be Learning How the West Is Lost
Ottawa is three time zones away and well beyond the Rockies, but for the loggers who work here, Canada's Liberal Party government might as well govern from another planet. The list of complaints is taller than a cedar in a region that can sometimes resemble the United States more than the rest of Canada in its conservatism. The gun registry Ottawa established several years ago penalizes law-abiding hunters, westerners complain.
The Liberals have soured relations with the Bush administration, people here say, but it is western Canada that pays in the form of the high tariffs that Washington has slapped on softwood lumber. (Ottawa is very much like Mars.. Their both 'red', void of intelligent life, an surrounded by a total vacuum)
Your tax dollars at work
Consider these news nuggets, culled from yesterday afternoon's list of news stories:  OTTAWA - A government polling contract with Angus Reid and Associates was awarded in 1995 even though the firm did not qualify for the work. The contract went ahead anyway because Reid was brother-in-law to the minister of human resources at the time, Lloyd Axworthy, says whistleblower Allan Cutler's secret diary. OTTAWA - In a strange twist to the multimillion-dollar federal sponsorship scandal, the Ottawa Citizen has learned public servant Charles Guité criticized senior officials at Paul Martin's Finance department in 1995 for repeatedly breaking government rules when they issued lucrative contracts without a competitive bidding process. Guité, now a central figure in the federal sponsorship scandal, said Martin's officials were eventually summoned to a high-level meeting and ordered to stop. OTTAWA - All the federal government has to show for a $25,000 sole-sourced Privy Council Office contract given to a former deputy minister is a 1 1/2-page report. Ironically, the subject matter of the report: Government accountability. There has been a comparable rich harvest of such stories every day lately, it seems. Like flakes of stone in a mosaic, all these items contribute to the portrait of an entrenched culture of complacency, sloppiness, entitlement and callous self-interest. "an entrenched culture of complacency, sloppiness, entitlement and callous self-interest." is a very good description of our government after ten years of self indulgence, corruption, incompetence, and out right fraud. What might be happening here is that the corruption is so deep, so widespread, so entrenched, that urban voters simply can't believe its true, and will vote for them again, and again.. It's absolutely unbelievable. It would seem, that by looking at the evidence, Martins government are the same people that have been ripping us off for ten long years, while padding the pockets of their friends, relatives, and anyone that would kickback a donation to the liberal party. Will they be voted in again? Sure they will, because there seems to be no limit to eastern, urban, political stupidity. Canadians have been financially raped by the liberals, and if they end up back in power it only means you enjoyed it.. So bend over again, and shut your mouth. Or, consider change! It's long past due!)
Liberals to gamble on June election
OTTAWA -- Prime Minister Paul Martin got the go ahead from the Liberal caucus Wednesday for an early election and one cabinet minister said Canadians will go to the polls in June. Liberal MPs had been agitating for a fall election after the party suffered a devastating plunge in public opinion polls in the wake of Auditor General Sheila Fraser’s report on the $250-million sponsorship scandal. Fraser’s revelations that $100 million was diverted to Liberal-friendly advertising firms in Quebec placed the Liberals in a minority government situation although polls this week indicate the party is beginning to recover. “As a cabinet minister, I see the fact that things need to get moving around here and I want to look to the future, and without a mandate it is hard to do that, so I would like us to go as soon as possible,” he said. Martin got the same message from Liberal MPs, including the influential Ontario caucus, who want to hit the hustings early rather than face the daily onslaught of opposition attacks on the scandal in the House of Commons. “We have a good message to leave with the population but it is very difficult for us to leave this message when the House is in session because the opposition has a very different agenda,” said Quebec Liberal MP Serge Marcil.(And Canadians should be very thankful the opposition agenda IS different. Their agenda is to inform Canadians of the incredible level of corruption rampant with-in the liberal party. It's NOT just a lousy 100 million stolen, it goes way...way...way.. beyond that. This government is rotten to the core, and it's banking on the majority of urban Canadians being too stupid or simply just too politically uninterested, to realize that.. They just want to dissolve parliament as fast as possible, avoid all the embarrassing question coming their way, and to put a halt to the enquiries now taking place. If they get back in, it will be business as usual, and their friends can hardly wait to get back on the 'troughroll')
'Some' of the Tax Dollars being Wasted to Track "Duck Hunters" in the name of "Public Safety"
In terms of the principal contractors, I have a list of six contractors and an indication of what they are contracted to do. A company called DLS, St.-Joseph is looking at warehousing and distribution of forms and publications for the firearms centre, and that is $2.1 million. St. Joseph Print Group, for printing and mailing services, which is basically to license firearm owners of the certificates, is $3.2 million. EDS is looking at hardware and software maintenance support for the current registry system, and that is $8.8 million. Hewlett Packard, for maintenance and support for the HP service, which I understand is part of the current system, is $2.3 million. Nex Innovation is looking at hardware maintenance and support services generally for $2.1 million. The largest item that is part of the $46 million earmarked for development of the new system is to CGI Information Systems, which is developing the system to support the regulations that are foreseen in the new legislation being proposed, and that is a total of $32.4 million.(Those of you that voted liberal, that may have 'family' dying for the lack of a timely MRI or access to Cancer treatment, can take heart in the simple fact that YOU have been protected from 'Duck Hunters'.  Because of  'funding shortages' due to liberal fraud, mismanagement, pay outs and kick backs, as well as the liberals channelling TWO BILLION DOLLARS into the totally useless make work project called the gun registry, health care has obviously taken a seat waaaaayy in the back.. Right beside your lack of property rights, and your constitutional "security of the person")
Martin aides tied to scandal
(Canoe Link. May vanish in 24 hours or less)
In a May 30, 1994, finance department memo, O'Leary said she and Martin agreed that Gingko/Groupe Everest be retained to do work on the Canada Savings Bond mailout campaign. "...Gingko/Groupe Everest should also serve as project manager/co-ordinator for the public relations firms which are appointed," O'Leary wrote.  Groupe Everest, owned by Claude Boulay, is the ad firm that worked on Martin's 1990 leadership campaign and was one of several fingered by the auditor general for raking in lucrative commissions for little work. Martin said during a London, Ont., press conference that he and Boulay had a falling out during the campaign and they split. According to documents tabled by public works whistleblower Allan Cutler yesterday, a $500,000 contract had already been awarded to Pinacle Advertising in November 1995 for the production and co-ordination of the savings bond mail-out campaign. A month later, Littler received a memo telling him that the savings bond campaign was being doubled in value on Martin's approval. (Martins Campaign logo should be the 3 monkeys.. But, unfortunately for ALL Canadians, eastern urban voters may insure that their riding a pig all the way to the public trough again! Even Mulroney never had scandals like this! Well, at least no one caught him!)
Martin eyes mandatory 10 years for gun crimes
OTTAWA (CP) — Prime Minister Paul Martin said today he's concerned about the sharp rise recently in the number of gun-related crimes in cities such as Toronto and said the Commons should look at mandatory 10-year sentences for such crimes. "Obviously this is something that the justice committee will have to look at," Martin said following a cabinet meeting. Last year, Toronto police recorded 326 reported shootings, an increase of 53 per cent. And 31 of last year's 65 homicides in the city were gun-related; during the late 1990s, about 20 shooting deaths per year were recorded. All but two of the homicides involving guns are believed to have been gang-related. Martin acknowledged weaknesses in the gun registry and said those must also be addressed.(The problem concerning the Liberal's ignorant "Gun Registry" is 'not' weaknesses, its 'uselessness'. Will this 'mandatory ten years' (to be reduced or plea bargained away, because looking at the record of 'liberal appointed supreme court justices' shows they will never uphold it) just be 'another' liberal 'election' lie .. It's better to be safe and vote for the 'right' that way the law will actually change.)
Revolution needed in revolting Canada
"Perhaps there were a few million dollars that might have been stolen in the process, but how many millions of dollars have we saved . . . ." -Prime Minister Jean Chretien.
READING the news reports emanating from the nation's capitol chronicling the latest revelations in the so-called Adscam scandal and resulting attempts at spin control by the federal government, leaves one to think it might just be time for a revolution. No, no not a storming of the Bastille or anything quite so dramatic. Something more along the lines of the California tax revolt which took shape in 1978 in what was called Proposition 13. While primarily concerned with local property taxes, the tax revolt served to tell the elected representatives, "We're not going to take it." (For quite a while Chrétien's on going claim that "Liberals are honest" was based in his reasoning that "No one has been arrested" so we must be honest(?) This is the thinking behind the Liberal Party... Well, here's hoping 'the parties over' or at least, about to be raided by the police!)
3 OPP Officers Charged for improper Jonathan Logan 'Swat Team Takedown'
Three Police Officers with Nottawasaga Detachment  of the Ontario Provincial Police were represented in a Barrie courtroom last Thursday after being formally charged with eight offences under the criminal code stemming from an incident in Baxter last year..
Mark Bonokoski wrote a story "A Senseless and terrifying ordeal" (no longer on line) in the
Toronto Sun regarding this incident,. The general information can be found here   This story has had NO media attention other than a story in a small Innisfil Ontario Paper called the Innisfil Scope.. This story was forwarded by the folks at the Wolf’s Den Sporting Supplies Ltd, Spread  the Word, make sure this story is NOT going to be hushed up!)
OF GANGS, GUNS AND DENIAL
What is it going to take for the powers that be in this city to realize Scarborough is under siege? Two hundred al-Qaida terrorists roaming the streets, blowing people up?  What's actually happening, according to Toronto police, isn't much better - 200 hardcore gang gunmen feuding over control of the lucrative trade in guns and drugs. And God help anyone who gets in their way. As Det.-Sgt. Gary Keys, head of the force's guns and gangs unit tells our reporter, Tom Godfrey, in today's Sun: "We are seeing more daylight shootings, which we rarely (used to see)."  Innocent people are being killed. Police are targeting four major gangs in Scarborough and yet our politicians - municipal, provincial and federal - are mostly in denial. The Liberal MPs we keep voting into office belong to a party that thinks the way to fight urban street crime is to register the rifles and shotguns of hunters and farmers. Right. They're so lost in the fog the last thing they want to hear about is tougher sentences or even enforcing the gun laws we now have. As for the Ontario Liberals, they're led by a premier who tells Torontonians not to over-react. This from Dalton McGuinty, whose own reaction when his son was assaulted two years ago by a couple of young thugs who forced him to reveal his PIN number and emptied his bank account, was to go out and "lay in wait" for the robbers. Now he wants us to stay calm about people being executed on our streets. Thanks, preem. (Dalton McYuppy laid in wait for the robbers? Who were the 'robbers', the local public school bullies? Did Dalton 'get them', or did he run away before he got his ass kicked? If you know who they are, you tell the police, you 'don't' lay in wait for them.. However, protecting your family or yourself while being attacked is an entirely different story. What do the liberals suggest you do? Tell the thugs to wait while you call 911. That way, your relatives will have the opportunity to listen to your futile pleads for assistance on  tape, while being replayed at your coroners inquest. See! They 'do' have a plan!)
WHAT DID CANADIANS GET FOR THEIR BILLION-DOLLAR GUN REGISTRY?
“Liberals still can’t tell us the number of crimes committed with handguns registered to the accused.”
Today, Garry Breitkreuz, Deputy House Leader and Official Opposition Justice Critic for Gun Control, released a startling admission from Statistics Canada.  Despite 70 years of registering handguns and despite spending a billion dollars on a new gun registry, Statistics Canada finally admitted that it can’t provide an answer to Breitkreuz’s simple questions: What are the total number of crimes committed by persons with a registered handgun, and the number of times the handgun was registered to the accused?  “This is outrageous.  How is Parliament ever going to determine if gun registration is worth two billion dollars if the Liberals aren’t even collecting the data to prove whether or not it works?” asked Breitkreuz. On January 9th, Breitkreuz asked the Library of Parliament for answers to his questions.  Almost immediately Statistics Canada admitted that they couldn’t provide any statistics with respect to ‘all crimes’.  On February 23rd, they also admitted that they were unable to tell if the handguns used in homicides were registered to the accused murderer,” reported Breitkreuz. “The Liberal government’s gun registry seeks to lay a piece of paper beside every gun in the country.  Could it be that the Liberals don’t collect statistics on the number of crimes committed with registered hand guns because it would prove the folly of this two billion dollar paper-pushing exercise?”(The 'real' purpose of the registry has nothing to do with safety, or preventing crime. But 'everything' to do with the United Nations agenda to disarm everyone (but them) in the plan for 'Global World Government'. A registry is the only way to go pick up the guns.. Just like they did in Germany in the 1930's. Remember Allan Rock's: "I came to Ottawa with the firm belief that only the police and soldiers should have guns"?  It doesn't matter how much it costs, it only matters that 'they' be in control.  Hence Martins comment that "the money has already been spent" is reason enough for them to keep right on spending and right on saying "the money has already been spent". The simple fact that this makes perfect sense to the man holding the purse strings of what now appears to be over a hundred financial mismanagement fiascos, should be scaring the hell out of Canadians everywhere!)
Shot fired across bow of smug Toronto
Asked about the bamboozle of the federal gun-registry system, a billion-dollar fiasco, Fantino — who does not support the registry, unlike most police chiefs in Canada — noted that the system has not helped Toronto police solve a single homicide. We have spent an extraordinary amount of money in this one area, but we haven't given the same attention with regards to gun crime in our society.''This is our society in Toronto in 2004: A dozen murder victims thus far. One white victim — the only solved homicide in the bunch.Had the victims been a dozen middle-class white women, slain by abusive partners, would any politician have dared to soft-pedal the crisis, as Premier Dalton McGuinty did last week, when he urged the public to resist feelings of helplessness, to stay defiant against the gathering dread that might render citizens prisoners in their own homes?(The Toronto Star still seems to be in denial that the number of Police Chiefs that support the registry is 'minuscule'. And for McYuppy to make the statement "resist feelings of helplessness, to stay defiant against the gathering dread' is absolutely absurd for a population that has been brainwashed into believing that 911 will actually result in someone arriving in time to save your ass.. Until the time comes where the Police 'really can' give you protection from these ignorant, stupid, punks with guns, it's up to 'you' and only 'you', to make sure your family is safe. Do what you must!)
Will waste ever end?
(Canoe Link. May vanish in 24 hours or less)
'Banana republic' tales boggle the mind  I feel like I'm living in a banana republic. At least after reading a Fraser Institute report released yesterday that examines the last eight years of federal Liberal rule and how badly Prime Minister Paul Martin has been squandering our money. It's called Government failure in Canada, 1997-2004. It examines the past eight years of auditor general reports, detailing 120 cases of some of the most vile examples of incompetence and abuse in government. You read and it just makes you, well ... really mad.
Did you know, for example, that there are more "low-income" children enrolled in Ottawa's child tax benefit program than there are children eligible for such benefits? Amazing. As of 2001, the auditor general says there was $250 million doled out in overpayments in that program. Who's getting these cheques? People's pets? (The waste will never end if the Liberals keep running the country. Martin is stuck between a Rock, and a hardplace..  The only 'temporary' saving he might have is to pull a Chretian trick, and call and election before things get worse. That would put a end to the 'current' inquiry, and give him a chance to hide the next one. And there WILL be a next one, and a next one, and a next one. The ONLY way to put an end to this is by 'purging' the government of theives and parasites.  Info on the Fraser report can be found on the Link below)
Sponsorship Scandal Only One in an Endless Series: Review of Reports from the Auditor General Predicts More Problems
The examples of government failure documented in the Institute’s report are classified by type. More than one-quarter involved incompetence, with waste accounting for one-fifth. Program failure, misrepresentation, and self-service (officials creating a personal non-monetary benefit) each account for smaller shares of the total. Instances of red tape and self-dealing (officials creating a personal monetary benefit) were less common, though the total number of government failures is probably understated.  Just a few of the examples of waste, mismanagement, and incompetence summarized in the report(As you scroll down the page and read the results , the shear magnitude of the waste becomes astounding. The report is an amazing compilation of waste, mismanagement, incompetence, and outright fraud. It's enough to have you question the sanity of 'anyone' that would vote these morons back into office. Think about that next month when your writing the cheque to pay your taxes. Remember that the Liberals have lined the pockets of their friends with YOUR hard earned money, and waited for a percentage to 'kick back' into their donation coffers. The next time one of your 'yuppie' friends say they vote Liberal because they don't trust the New Conservatives, ask them what they trust about the Liberals? Or, are they just stupid, and wonder how a million Lemmings could possibly be wrong?)
Military meal repayment sparks controversy
OTTAWA - Defence Minister David Pratt has ordered the Canadian Forces to investigate why 10 low-ranking soldiers were ordered to pay back thousands of dollars in meal advances. "I want these soldiers to be dealt with fairly and equitably," said Pratt. In a report released Monday, Canadian Forces ombudsman Andre Marin says 10 soldiers agreed to take part in a three-month air traffic control training course in Richmond, B.C., in early 2002. The military promised to pay $50 per day for meals and expenses, which the soldiers received as a cash advance. There was no microwave or refrigerator at the training facility. A week into the course, that payment was dropped to $17.50 per day, but the soldiers were told their superiors were negotiating to have the figure returned to $50. When the course ended, the soldiers were each ordered to pay the Department of Defence approximately $3,000. They were given six months to repay the debts. According to Marin's report, one of the soldiers had to sell his house and two others had to get loans. Top bureaucrats within the Defence Department treated the soldiers' complaints with disdain. In an e-mail, a human resources advisor wrote: "I…just bought a small, whole cooked chicken in Ottawa…for $5.50 that would last me two to three days."(It would seem that our military should now be living on Kraft Dinner. What's 'really' gaoling is that these incompetent bastards have spent more money in fighting the soldiers request, than they would have spent by just giving them the 50 bucks. No wonder the waste is rampant, our bureaucracy is full of morons. A HUGE purge is needed to get these idiots out, and back to the real world for a reality check!)
Statistics don't support scary stories about concealed-carry
The fact that concealed-carry laws have a 10-plus-year record that is open and available to the public in most states refutes the worries he expressed. The consensus is that at worst there is no harm done by these laws, and at best crime decreases, up to 8 percent in a few studies. Let's review Bachhuber's. Anyone can get a concealed-carry permit with minimal training. This is true as long as you can legally purchase a handgun, take the course and pay the fees (about $200). The vast majority of individuals getting their concealed-carry permit have years of experience with firearms. The point is that they are taking responsibility for their own self-defense, and with it comes a tremendous responsibility to know how to handle the firearm correctly as well as when it is wise to use it.(It won't be long before Toronto Store  owners DEMAND to be armed for their own protection.  A loaded shotgun behind the counter is NOT a firearm in in Storage.  Unsafe storage charges have already been thrown out of court in Ontario for a pharmacist that kept one in his back room for protection against junkies.. Although loaded ,and siting in the back room, the gun 'was NOT in storage at the time! When there are break-ins in your town, You will  sleep 'much' better with the pistol on the night table or the shotgun beside your bed..)

FIRST, WE'VE GOT TO CONTROL THE CRIMINALS
For a country that prides itself on its low, low rate of gun crime (vis-a-vis the big, bad USA), we sure have a funny way of maintaining it. Our largest city has recently been plagued by gang-related shootings, the young gunmen getting ever more brazen, to the point where several innocent bystanders have been literally caught - and killed - in the crossfire. While smug statisticians point to overall declining crime rates, Toronto Police Chief Julian Fantino points to the blood spilling on his streets. Whatever the stats say, violent crime is up here, and gun crime is mushrooming. Last week, at last, there were signs the crisis might have reached a tipping point - politically speaking, at least. For the first time I can recall, federal, provincial and municipal politicians all sat down with the police chief and actually talked about how crime is hurting Toronto. Unfortunately, talk is all they did. Mayor David Miller, who had clung to the "crime is down" mantra during last fall's civic election, declared gun crime had reached "unacceptable" levels and went so far as to echo Fantino's call for tougher sentences for gun crimes - a positive change."We all know the situation in the United States. They have a different attitude toward guns than we do and it's causing a problem in our city," Miller said. "I'm not going to accept that." Good grief. Now the U.S. is to blame? Look, you can call America the Great Satan all you want, but aren't our borders our responsibility? If people are bringing guns into Canada illegally, why aren't we stopping them? Miller also noted those guns that don't come from the U.S. are mostly stolen here at home, so he called on the feds to toughen laws governing the storage of firearms. That sound you hear is gun owners, who are already governed by strict storage laws, tearing their hair out. When someone breaks into a house or robs a bank, do we call for laws requiring better locks and security systems? Is there any evidence gun clubs and firearms retailers are widely ignoring the rules and negligently leaving guns lying around for thugs to grab? I'd like to hear it - otherwise, this argument amounts to nothing more than blaming the victim.(Once these so-called (but as yet unexplained) tougher 'storage' laws come into effect, the criminal wanting to steal your guns will not be able to simply wait until you are not at home. The average criminal will not be able to open the safe without your help! How does he get that? Why he holds a knife to the throat of your wife or child, cutting the surface deeper, and deeper, until you open the safe and relinquish the guns. Once he has them, he's not going to leave any witnesses! As for you protecting your family?  Why you simply, 'at the first sound of breaking door frames or glass', rush to your safe (do you have your glasses on?) you fumble with the combination or locks, you get the door open, you grab your pistol.. You fumble with your keys again to unlock the pistol.. You now go to where you keep your ammunition, (it can't be kept with the firearm by law) you fumble with your keys again, to unlock the box, you grab some ammo, now if you still have time, and the knife is not at the throat of your wife or child, and if he hasn't shot you already, you can then load the gun blow him away. You will then be promptly arrested, charged with murder, (and probably unsafe storage of a firearm as well, because you were actually able to 'get it' and defend your self rather than dying like like the government says you 'should' ) you will then have sell your home and spend what ever life savings you have accumulated, on lawyers to defend yourself yet again. Only this time, you will need to defend yourself from your own government, while trying to convince them the poor misguided individual you shot was not 'really' the victim in this incident! GOOD LUCK!)
Gun review 'not timed' to election
The government review of the federal gun registry may not be complete prior to an anticipated May election, says the minister reviewing the controversial program. Despite widespread expectations Prime Minister Paul Martin launched the review to flesh out a new Liberal policy on the firearms program before an election, Albina Guarnieri, the minister in charge, said Friday that is not part of the plan. "We're not doing this for the election," Guarnieri, minister of state for civil preparedness, said in an interview. "I have the luxury of taking the time that we really need to get it right. The task that I was given was to find the best route forward, with what we have in place now, and I'm doing that." Guarnieri's statement appears to contradict suggestions from Liberal backbenchers, including Andy Savoy, chairman of the party's national caucus, that the government is considering sweeping changes.(Desperately 'trying' to look as if they are not under any pressure, the Liberals keep up the act.. Their saying "trust us", "Elect us" "Were Sorry". The ONLY thing their sorry about is getting caught. Another Liberal majority will only mean more of the same. From the very first 'red book' (written by Mr Martin), there has been nothing but lies.. As for the scandal of the 100 million skimmed from the treasury! Martin says "We will get to the bottom of this"! Well Mr. Martin It would seem that your government IS at the bottom of this. I would suggest the Liberals go into debt and pay it back.. They may be sorry, but they still think the taxpayer are stupid and they are 'still' skimming YOUR TAX DOLLARS to pay the costs of this 'inquiry'. As for the gun registry? Everyone is yelling "scrap it" and the Liberals are 'still' not listening. They 'still' believe they know best, they are 'still' wasting your money at the rate of over $360,000.00 per day. The incessant squandering of tax dollars will NOT stop, until the Liberals are out of power in Ottawa.)

Crook grabs rookie's gun, takes a shot
CALGARY -- A quick-thinking rookie police officer stared down the barrel of his own gun and knew it wasn't his time to die. Const. Jean-Marc Boucher, a member of the Calgary Police Service for less than a year and a former Canadian Armed Forces peacekeeper, was nearly murdered in cold blood by a thug who stole his gun.
But Boucher's quick wits and presence of mind to grab the gun and point it away just as the culprit pulled the trigger, spared him his life as a bullet went whizzing past his head.  Andrew Blair Mazur, 20, of Calgary has been charged with attempted murder and a host of other criminal charges.(The courts will no doubt give this guy bail, he will be back on the street before the cop gets his paper work completed. Once in court he 'might' get a couple of years reduced by 2x the time he spent in jail already (if any).. The poor fellow was probably just 'misunderstood' and was abused as a child.. )
Mayor, police chief go after the guns after deadly night
MPs asked to toughen sentencing laws, stop flow of U.S. weapons
A shaken Mayor David Miller called yesterday for tougher sentencing for criminals and a halt to the flow of guns from the United States after three separate shootings in Scarborough left two young men dead and a third in hospital with a gunshot wound to the head. "This is a very sad day for Toronto," Mr. Miller told reporters at City Hall. "I never thought we would see the kind of gun violence we had today." Although Chief Fantino spoke at length about lucrative drug gangs working with impunity in the city, homicide detective Wayne Banks described the victims of the first shooting as "hard-working family men." Neither had involvement in crime or gangs, he said. Near tears, Det. Banks described spending the evening with the heartbroken parents of Mr. Charlton. "It was very emotional for me and my partner to deal with the family who were grieving," he said. Chief Fantino said police rounded up 554 suspects during a gang-related sweep last year, most of whom had extensive criminal records. "Most got bail," he said. "We have to say enough is enough." Mr. Miller said yesterday he wants federal and provincial help to rebuild social programs that keep youth off the streets. But he also linked the problem to a proliferation of U.S. guns that come into Canada."In Toronto the guns come from the United States and kill young people here," he said.(David Miller has suddenly come to the conclusion that his 'group hug' theory alone, will never work. Some people think it's based in the racist belief that if you show a black kid a basketball, he will drop his gun and follow you anywhere. Much like yelling 'COOKIE' to a charging rottweiler  .. Sure these areas have nothing for the kids to do, so trouble is one of the things they get into. Basketball courts and recreation areas alone will never solve a problem caused by the lure of easy money. Selling drugs and joining gangs give them 'perceived prestige' and the big money they have only dreamed about. White or black, the lure of big drug money to some of these impoverished kids and young adults now shooting each other and anyone they perceive to be a threat is a huge enticement. You would have to go back to the 1930's prohibition era to see anything like it.. And we all know how 'that' problem was solved. Maybe it's the only thing left to do! A billion + dollars wasted targeting duck hunters 'could' have saved a lot of these lives if spent on beefing up the border to curb smuggled handguns, but that would not have followed the U.N. mandate the Liberals are so desperately pushing.)
Venezuela Suspends Rights of Citizens to Carry Firearms
March 5 (Bloomberg) -- Venezuela suspended the right of the country's 24 million people to carry firearms in a bid to defuse tension that has claimed the lives of at least 10 protesters in the last week. Defense Minister General Jorge Garcia said the suspension would start at 6 p.m. (5 p.m. New York time) today and run through March 14. Garcia said in a televised press conference that the suspension was implemented to ``guarantee the safety of all citizens.''(Well, Lets see! Here are 10 protesters dead, and its very unlikely they were killed by ten separate individuals, so in a knee jerk reaction, here's another country that sees no harm in suspending 'rights' of 24 MILLION people as a result. What about the 'rights' of the people to defend themselves or their families from all this violence.. Does anyone in Venezuela 'really' believe these 'rights' will be restored on March 14th? Once the government knows they can suspend this 'right', the extensions will go on and on until the 'right' is no longer a 'right '. Perhaps by forcing citizens to obtain a 'licence' this 'right' will be transformed into a 'privilege' .. Does any of this sound familiar?)
PM Paul Martin stops in Lindsay
Carolyn Fallis was one of hundreds of citizens who braved the media crush that surrounded Prime Minister Paul Martin when he toured Ross Memorial Hospital on Wednesday afternoon. Ms Fallis is an administrator for Dr. A.A. Syed, a physician in Lindsay. Ms Fallis says, "Every day I get calls asking if we're accepting new patients." With six doctors who left the City of Kawartha Lakes in the past year, "it's just insane." Some doctors, she says, have a two-year waiting list. "It's awful, so we tell them to go either to emerg or the walk-in clinic, which overcrowds it," Ms Fallis said. She says the walk-in clinic often closes its doors half an hour after it opens, so the patients in the room can be dealt with before the clinic closes. "It's (the system) stressed right out," says Ms Fallis. She hoped for the opportunity to ask Mr. Martin if we're getting more doctors. The health-care crisis, troubles facing farmers and the gun registry were questions posed by local reporters. Other media questioned Mr. Martin about winning in former Tory ridings, whether Mr. Martin felt he was carrying the success or failure of the election on his shoulders and whether Mr. O'Reilly needed the PM to boost his chances of re-election.(Seeing that an election has not been called as yet, Paul Martin is doing this bit of campaigning on YOUR MONEY! A liberal will take ANY opportunity to use your tax dollars to their own advantage. As a matter of fact, the tax dollars he's wasting on this pre-election campaign would actually FUND a couple of more doctors for this area! His "chances of re-election" should be equal to the chance of any of the promises he's telling in 'this' version of the "red book of lies", to actually come to fruition. After all, Provincial leader Dalton McYuppy used the liberal tactic of  'saying what ever you feel will get you elected' then afterward...well..Screw em..  After all the dummies voted you in, and your there for at least 4 years.. Just tell em all the same bullshit next time too.. To a hard core Liberal, there's nothing as gullible as an Ontario voter is there? Why it's a Liberal gold mine of stupidity!)
Paul Martin shows his true Liberal colours
People in Canada seemingly have a short attention span when it comes to politics, but this isn’t the first time that Mr. Martin has been in trouble with public perception. Martin’s businesses were discussed recently as being a conflict of interest with his new role as PM, and so he has been forced to sell them to his sons who will now operate the businesses themselves. And let’s not forget that Martin cut $2.4-million out of the pension plans for his workers, depriving some of them of 30 per cent of their pensions after 30 years of working for him. So what’s the total? Lies, cover-ups, whipped MPs, shady business, exaggerations, and no accountability. Yep, he’s a bona fide Liberal. Are you happy with your change in government?(This article is a pretty good compilation of Martins dubious 'accomplishments'. Canadians 'do' have short memories, and he is depending on that. He 'may' want to soar with the eagles, but he's truly hoping weasels really don't get sucked into jet engines. But if they do, let it be one of those 'un needed' challenger jet engines.. Call it karma...)
Ruling: Canada's gun law unconstitutional
Erasmus says the ruling didn't surprise him because the case was similar to one won by the Inuit last year. He says both cases suggest that Canadian legislation must acknowledge treaty rights to hunting. "We've been talking with the federal government over the last little while trying to design a more First Nations-friendly approach to it," he says. "I think we need to be more directly involved in that review to reflect our concerns and bring forward an approach that would make more sense to us." Erasmus says any new gun laws must also allow for the possibility of aboriginal self-governance, but officials with the federal government say it's too early to comment on the ruling. Thomas Vares, with the Canadian Firearms Centre says they are considering their options. "The provincial court has just rendered its decision as of yesterday and we are currently reviewing it to determine what further action is required." (Generally misleading headline from the CBC.. Canada's gun laws ARE unconstitutional, but the government will not allow them to be tested in court, which is ALSO unconstitutional ! Right now, they seem only to be 'unconstitutional' for natives.. And who cares what the CFC says, they won't be the CFC for much longer anyway! Canadians are getting wise to Liberal boondoggle financed slush funds.)
CBC’s $2 BILLION DOLLAR COST ESTIMATE FOR THE GUN REGISTRY WAS LOW
“One billion is gone and the only way to stop the waste of another billion is to scrap this useless program.”

Today, Garry Breitkreuz, Deputy House Leader and Official Opposition Justice Critic for Gun Control, released documented proof that the gun registry will cost far more than the $2 billion estimated by CBC’s Zone Libre last month.  “Deputy Prime Minister Anne McLellan told the House of Commons that the CBC’s estimate was wrong but continually fails to address the discrepancies in her own departmental estimates,” said Breitkreuz.
TWELVE REASONS WHY THE GUN REGISTRY IS GOING TO COST MORE – LOTS MORE!
(Garry Breitkreuz, as usual, has done his homework.)
Treat lethal drivers as the criminals they are
Such road warriors are more dangerous to the general population than many traditional violent offenders. The odds are that most of us won't ever be shot by a gang member or a bank robber. But serial rogue drivers are indiscriminate. The next victim could be you, your son or your grandfather. Our courts and our politicians aren't going to take these criminals seriously, until we tell them to. While we wait for the police to catch Paul McRae, yet again, we have some time to reflect on why we treat killers with cars so differently from killers with guns.(Cars and impaired drivers kill far more people in Canada than nut cases and criminals with guns. Now it seems that Impaired drivers and 'nut cases'  released or ignored by the courts are starting to take their toll as well!   Do they 'ever' blame the car? of course not, don't be silly, a car is an inanimate object incapable of inflicting injury all by itself.. Except of course for the ones that roll back on their owners, or children, crushing them. But those "accidents" are still not caused by the car, but rather by owner negligence. Blaming the "gun" for firearms related death and injury is something different though.. Liberal logic 'always' says when you stub your toe, you blame the table, chair, wall, etc.. But to blame your own carelessness and stupidity is far beyond liberal logic. It just doesn't make you 'feel good', and of course it 'never' gathers votes from other people ignorant, and stupid enough, to blame inanimate objects for their own obvious failings, psychological problems, and phobias. Why 'that' would be an admission of being wrong wouldn't it? It's better they stay in denial..)

Sponsorship program tops wasteful-spending awards
OTTAWA - The Quebec sponsorship scandal topped a list of awards for government misspending released Tuesday by the Canadian Taxpayers Federation. The "story of lost innocence, betrayal by ranking government members, and taxpayers' rage" took the top spot in the federation's annual Teddies Waste Awards. The federation also cited the Manitoba Arts Council, which it says gave "$5,000 to fund Aliza Amihude's jewelry made with her toenails, pubic hair, mouse droppings and dead ladybugs." The lifetime achievement award in the sixth annual list went to Gov. Gen. Adrienne Clarkson, for "taking an office most Canadians respect and admire, and treating it with contempt."(Hmmm Pubic hair, toenails, mouse dropping, and dead ladybugs eh! I'm sure every good liberal knows 'art' when they see it! And of course, it 'always' looks a lot better after swilling back a $4500.00 bottle of wine from that Quebec ad agency.  I'm sure 'I' could make a similar artistic statement! Why I could accumulate a pretty good collection of bellybutton lint, mix it with some earwax, crap on it, scoop it into a bag, place it at the entrance to 24 Sussex Drive, set fire to it, and then sit back and  wait for the cheque to arrive.. How the hell did I miss a chance like that? But then again, Liberals don't call me "friend")
Prime ministerial policy wonk turns into campaigner as spring election looms
He fielded a number of questions from the audience and surprised his fellow participants by turning the tables, asking for their opinions on issues like mad-cow disease and poverty. The prime minister also endeavoured to distance himself from some initiatives of predecessor Jean Chretien - especially the gun registry, which has infuriated many rural Canadians. Martin reaffirmed his support for gun control but suggested the authoritarian Chretien style was responsible for massive cost overruns in the program. "I basically agreed with the principle, but I don't think the way in which the government handled it made any sense at all," Martin said in response to a question from the audience. "If they had listened (to suggestions from Liberal MPs) it would have been a very different and much better piece of legislation." (If they had listened to suggestions at all, the firearms act would never have been implemented in the first place.. The problem was, they 'were' listening to Liberal MP's, and the majority pulled their noses out of Chrétien's ass long enough to be good 'yes' men and agree with everything Chrétien, and the Rock that crawled out from underneath him, wanted. The Registry in all probability is simply just another Liberal slush fund paying off friends. If it weren't, the Auditor General would not have had to throw up her hands in despair at the sheer incompetence, mismanagement, and hidden or obscured paper trails that have consumed a BILLION TAX DOLLARS .. Just like that 'much smaller' scandal in progress now.. Canadians are in for a big shock when, and if, the truth about this "gun registry" ever comes out! THAT will only happen when the Liberals are gone. If their re-elected, any fraud will be quickly hidden from the public and parliament. Perhaps by declaring the entire registry and it's associated bookkeeping a 'Cabinet Secret' just as they have with much of the embarrassing information already)
Klein a supporter of gun control
Alberta Premier Ralph Klein is trying to clarify the remarks he made against Canada's gun registry after the slaying of an RCMP officer. Klein says although he opposes the gun registry, he's a strong supporter of gun control measures. He says he favours the continued use of firearms acquisition certificates and questionnaires about whether gun owners have a history of mental problems. (This was the system in place 'before' the liberals decided to 'F' it up.. It had a MUCH higher per application refusal rate, and virtually everyone met face to face with a police officer at one time or another. If the cop thought you were a 'sleeping nut case' you were probably a 'sleeping nut case' or at least worthy of a closer look. Now, there is no safeguard against 'sleeping nut cases' and as far as the the government bureaucrat processing the application is concerned, the 'sleeping nut case' is just another piece of paper to be processed.)
Natives don't have to pay gun fees: Ontario judge
ARMSTRONG, ONT. - An Ontario provincial court judge ruled Tuesday that the federal government cannot make two aboriginal men pay fees to register their guns because their treaty gave them "full and free rights" to hunt. In September 2001, an Ontario Provincial Police officer stopped partridge hunters Marc and Leon Nanokeesic on their way home to the Whitesand First Nation, on the west side of Lake Nipigon, north of Thunder Bay. The Ojibwa men were charged for not having a licence to possess a firearm. Their lawyer, Harley Schachter, launched a constitutional challenge of the federal gun registry. "It's astounding to me that the government would ignore aboriginal and treaty rights in this way," Schachter said. Judge Diane Petit-Begg agreed with the argument, and acquitted the hunters. All treaties signed west of Ontario include rights to hunt freely, and previous court decisions have affirmed similar rights for Inuit and Métis. The firearms registration fee is already waived for subsistence hunters, but the Nanokeesics don't rely on hunting to make a living or feed their families. The judge ruled that the sort of social hunting they were practising is also part of their constitutionally protected treaty right to hunt. She also said that natives must still register their guns, so a system will have to be worked out that tests and registers them without collecting any money. (It looks as if the government has found away around the licensing of natives.. No fees to be charged, but they still have to register their guns. So,  that I suppose if some urban 'gang banger' happens to be roaming the tundra one day, and steals a native's firearm, his future urban victims will feel much better at having been shot with the much less deadly  'registered' gun..)
Do Gun Control Activists Pad Gun Death Statistics?
(Does a Bear Shit in the woods?)
During 2001, the CDC reported a total of 157,078 injury-deaths. On their interactive Web site, if you click "Firearm" under "Cause of Injury," the figure becomes 29,573. For deaths in children, click on <1 as the lowest in the age range and 17 as the highest. Also select the "No Age-Adjusting Requested" option. The figure becomes 1,433. Multiplied by four, this is 5,732, or roughly 40 percent of what MMM asserts. The 5,732 includes at least two categories of death that do not clearly belong because they do not clearly support MMM’s anti-gun arguments. That is to say, MMM’s use of death statistics coupled with calls for legislative control as a "solution" unmistakably implies that the cited deaths could have been prevented by gun control. It is misleading, therefore, to include deaths that would probably have occurred whether gun laws and, in some cases, whether guns themselves — were present. (Virtually every so called 'statistic' that is parroted by 'any' gun control group is a distortion, inflation, manipulation, or outright lie. They have never, in the entire history of any of their movements, come up with anything that has not been thoroughly discredited. And THAT includes the Canadian versions of these paranoids!)
Gun registry not just mismanaged
Many of us may be aware that it qualifies as one of the worst-run programs in Canadian history. In summing up the sentiments of the audit team, federal gun control adviser Professor William Stenning declared that, "They just couldn't believe their eyes. They've seen lots of terrible things, but they've never seen anything like this."
But the point being missed is that the money blown in the gun registry goes beyond incompetence. You simply can't get from estimates of $2 million to expenditures of over $1 billion solely through mismanagement. This fact has barely rated a mention because I suspect that too many of us simply don't appreciate the significance of the numbers.(The Auditor general 'should' be going back to take a closer look, now that the 'other' liberal slush fund has been exposed. The shear amount of gross incompetence can not possibly be the only reason for this huge overrun.. There HAS to be something else. The Quebec sponsorship 'slush fund' is only the tip of the iceberg. Canadians have been ripped of by this government far greater than they may ever know.. An THEY want ANOTHER four years access to the Canadian tax base for more 'friend funding'.. If they win the next election, there will truly be no hope for this country. It just wont be Jean Pelletier's "pitiful single mothers" that this arrogant bunch of bastards will have to worry about!)
Gun registry failed to prevent Mountie's death: Klein
Edmonton - Premier Ralph Klein said he's deeply saddeened by the death of RCMP Corporal Jim Galloway over the weekend, and questioned how a mentally ill man was able to get a rifle. Klein said the incident doesn't change his stand against Canada's gun registry. The gunman, who was diagnosed as schizophrenic, managed to get hold of a rifle despite the registration system, he said. The shooting demonstrates the need for gun control, but not a registry, Klein said.(There is NOTHING in the liberals gun control farce which could have prevented this killing. However, incarceration for uttering death threats would have, but Nooo The government does not want to see people locked up until they actually escalate their crimes.. Feel safer? I didn't think so!)

Polls show sponsorship debacle could be Grits' 'ultimate scandal'
OTTAWA -- It has been a Liberal decade marred by misspending, administrative cock-ups and corporate cronyism. From hefty penalties for cancelled military choppers to explosive cost overruns for the gun registry, federal taxpayers have continually paid the price. Sailing through serial scandals, the Grits have managed to shake off the foul-ups and take three straight electoral victories. But there are signs forgiving Canadians are finally fed up. Facing a united Conservative party and a rejuvenated NDP, the sponsorship scandal engulfing Paul Martin's government appears ready to stick.  "Canadians don't set a level and say, 'If you do a good job here it allows you to rip off tax dollars there,' " he said. "It doesn't work that way.(Two terms for any prime minister, on FIXED election dates should be the standard. 10 years under one dictator has been proven time and time again to end in public rip-offs. In this case, Money NOT recovered from this Liberal Fraud, should be replaced by the Liberal Party.)

Environmentalists take aim at charitable status for pro-hunting organizations
TORONTO (CP) - Politically active sport-hunting groups are being recognized as charities while some animal-welfare and anti-gun organizations are being denied charitable status, a new national network says. In a campaign to be launched Monday, the Charity Action Team is releasing a report submitted to the federal government that questions the situation. "Hunting and fishing clubs should not be charities," Nancy Zylstra of the Ottawa-based ProNature Network says. "Should a bowling club be given charity status and go after the right to bowl?" The new network argues that organizations such as the Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters, the B.C. Wildlife Federation, Ducks Unlimited and the Canadian Wildlife Federation are in fact powerful pro-hunting political lobby groups. "Why should (the Ontario hunters' federation) be a protection-of-animals charity?" says Zylstra. "That just blows me away. It's a special-interest group." While the groups cite wildlife conservation as central to what they do, the report argues that's nothing more than "greenwashing" to disguise their hunting and fishing focus from the public. What really rankles, the network says, is that genuine animal-welfare and environmental groups have lost their charitable status, which prevents them from issuing tax receipts to donors and makes fundraising far more difficult.(The B.C. and Ontario groups ARE Wildlife protection groups, whose services to wildlife are something only the incredibly ignorant  would know nothing about. The 'deserving groups' being left out that Zylstra talks about, are 'PETA' type fringe groups, that prefer to throw paint on women wearing furs, than get off their asses and out of their comfortable yuppie environments, to slog through a marsh placing nesting boxes, etc.. What about that useless, virtually memberless group, called the coalition for gun control.. The Feds have been funnelling money to 'them' for years, and they accomplish absolutely nothing worthwhile!.. These 'Environmentalists' are in all probability, the same ones that scream in outrage to get people to stop building new homes, 'right beside theirs', on sensitive areas like the  Oak ridges Moraine.. If it wernt for the pro hunting groups, wildlife would die off, because of nowhere to go after the yuppies have paved over their habitat..When was the last time you seen a deer in Toronto? Just about ALL of ANY wildlife left in the cities, are treated as vermin.)
Plutocracy in the Great White North As Canadian as Corruption
In his Prime Minister's declarations, Martin tried to play the media as fools. His speech read through a list of gifts long requested by the Canadian public-even among Liberal Party electors. Its objective was to further highlight Chretien's dab with dictatorial decorum. The media gobbled the feed as if filet mignon were being given as bait. A host of "left-leaning" initiatives on health, education and governance marked the new Prime Minister's tenure with grace. And why not? After all, the public had been expecting Martin to repeal every policy move Chretien had ever embraced.(From the old Chrétien effort of a year or so ago, that tried to convince Canadians the Liberals were "honest" to Martin telling us he will get to the "bottom of this" seems to be coming about.. The more they tell Canadians that their "honest" the more they find themselves "at the bottom". He's not just trying to play the 'media' for fools is he?)
