I'll be honest with you. I started "Just Like Heaven" as a project for a Women's Studies class my sophomore year of college. We had to do a feminist action project which would inform people about an important issue to women... I thought to myself, 'What issue could be more important than sex?' And thus the tiny, one page of text that became this site was born.
Soon, I started getting letters, asking me about safer sex practices. I would respond, and suddenly, the site meant more to me than just a project; I actually felt like I was *doing* something... and in doing some of the research I had to do to answer the questions, I learned a lot of stuff, too.
So Letters and Advice is what made me commit to this site, and to make it my pet project. I like helping people out, and I like offering advice when it's needed. So we have this spiffy page. If you have a question, or a comment, please, mail it to me at justlikeheaven@email.com.
As I've said, I get a decent amount of mail each month from people who want to know about safer sex... So every month (ok, every once in a while!) I put up a new letter that I think is either especially funny, intelligent, or just plain good. This is this month's.
Does having a tongue piercing put you at greater risk for transmission of disease during oral sex? I've scoured the web, and no one is answering this question. I've had my piercing for six months, so it's healed as far as I know although I've heard that tongue piercings never heal. I don't think that it's open, though. It doesn't ooze blood. Anyhow, I just had unprotected oral sex on a guy, and he came in my mouth against my wishes, but I spat out the cum. I know there is a small chance that I could have contracted an STD, but I would like to know if you know anything else. From now on, I am not going down on someone without a condom, PERIOD. Thanks for your help at putting a wooried mind at relative ease.,
Sincerely,
(Name Withheld)
you have no idea the joy it brings me to see such a well written, thoughtful letter. Thanks for checking out the site..
As far as your question goes, your guess is as good as mine. It seems to me that the likelihood of you getting infected with an STI is as much as if you had a microscopic cut in your mouth; at least, that's what I'd think. For more information on this, I'd consult the person who did the piercing for you, or any reputable piercing parlor. If you tell me where you're from, I might be able to recommend one to you.
I hope this helps, and I'm glad to hear that you'll be protected in the future. =O).
Take care,
Pandora
