Introduction to terra firm no.18.

Yet another tf publication on bse! There is, however, little choice. The previous issue highlighted the dramatic eruption of the bse controversy over the summer 2000, when it was realized, for the first time, that there would be a bse-cjd epidemic and, secondly, the fuel tax insurrection inearly september provoked by bse-riddled pharmers, who had been blockading industries and ports up and down the country for the last three years, nearly bringing about an economic collapse and the resignation of the labour government. Tf18 explores the culmination of the fuel tax insurrection; the autumn 2000 floods which were caused by pharmers’ devastation of the brutish countryside; and, the spread of bse to europe.

The spread of bse to europe has caused huge ructions within the european community and may do so even more as more countries succumb to the disease. The bse controversy continues to reveal that the brutish political establishment is a bunch of outright liars, cheats, and frauds, who will say and do anything to protect the country’s landing owning, pharming, aristocracy. It has to be suggested that the biggest impact on brutish politics throughout the 1990s has been bse. There is no other issue which has had more of an impact in brutish political life over the last decade than bse. It may well continue to be so in the first decade of 2000 as the number of bse fatalities around the world increases. The bse epidemic highlights firstly, pharmers’ powerful position in this country, their ability to defend their interests, and their influence in getting the most enormous subsidies whilst the rest of the country gets crumbs. Secondly, it indicates how devoted the media, politicians, and the public, are to pharmers. Pharmers are by far and away the country’s biggest scroungers, every family in the country pays £20 a week extra for their food, and yet all anti-scrounger propaganda is directed at people who are given £50 a week to live on. The events in bseland during the autumn 2000 were truly amazing. If anyone wants to know how corrupt, degenerate, hypocritical, stupid, and ecocidal, this country really is then all they have to do is study bse in the autumn 2000. People in brutland tend to sneer at third world country’s with their grossly unequal distribution of land, but they fail to realize land distribution isn’t any more equal in this country and that the pharming elite treat them like livestock.

The Living Dead.

We are currently living in the Earth’s biggest consumer extravaganza, the greatest asset stripping of the Earth’s life support system ever witnessed on Earth. We are living through the sixth biggest mass extinction that has ever happened during the Earth’s four billion long history. The eco-nazis are carrying out the greatest slaughter of enslaved Animals ever known throughout ooman history. They are causing the biggest extinction of Biodiversity ever witnessed on Earth. Biologists refer to species which are dying out as members of the ‘living dead’. The destruction of the Earth’s fabulous Biodiversity is just a preamble to oomans’ own oblivion. Oomans are members of the living dead no matter how much they might be enjoying the biggest, and most revolting, party on Earth. The issue is not whether oomans will survive on Earth but whether oomans will cause so much damage they will destroy all life on Earth. It is wrong to depict oomans as eco-nazis. This is far too polite and inadequate. They are truly vile, mass murdering, ecocidal, moronic, zombies.

The Aftermath of the First Fuel Tax Insurrection.

The fuel protests were called off on september 14th but the national union of pharmers threatened another insurrection in november unless the government reduced taxes on petrol.

Australia organizes Ban against Brutish Blood Donations.

According to steve dealler, australia fears it might suffer a blood shortage by banning the use of brutish blood, “This follows the prospective ban on donors that have visited UK (in the same way as Canada, NZ, USA. [2]

Fuel Protests continue across Europe.

Although the fuel protests have been called off by the pharming insurrectionists in brutland, they continue across europe, “Truckers and farmers across europe intensified protests against high fuel prices yesterday, blockading ports and petrol depots. Demonstrations hit scandinavia, spain and slovenia. Irish fishermen vowed to join in the action today [3]

More Urban Subsidies for Rural Spongers.

The labour government has been giving pharmers and rural areas so much compensation that the bosses at shell believe the government is a soft touch for further subsidies, “Greedy shell bosses want cash from taxpayers to keep rural petrol stations open. The oil giant, which is on course for profits of £8 billion this year, is threatening to close garages unless it gets government subsidies. Its website says: “We acknowledge the importance of maintaining the availability of fuel to remote areas, and believe that some form of subsidy may be necessary. [4]

Pharmers up in arms about GMO Civil Disobedience.

What an irony. A couple of days after the end of the pharmers’ insurrection, a jury clears greenpeace activists of causing criminal damage to gmo crops, “Greenpeace boss lord melchett and 27 other protestors who ripped up a trial crop of gm plants were cleared of criminal damage. Later lord melchett refused to rule out further attacks on gm trial fields. “We took this action to defend the british countryside from contamination. The time has come to stop growing these crops.” Lord melchett has an organic farm .. [5] The president of the national pharmers union remonstrates in the media about people not being punished for illegal activities. Perhaps he means that only people who aren’t pharmers ought to be prosecuted for illegal activities. What is interesting here is that melchett and greenpeace have tried to raise the profile of this issue, brilliantly exploiting public concerns about gmos, but the consequence of this is to shift greens back into a concern for the countryside and away from Animal rights issues.

UN Protests about Damage to the Environment.

Whilst the labour government is petrified of mentioning the environment, the united nations has to do blair’s dirty work for him, “One of the United Nations' most senior officials has warned that the battle for clean air and sustainable energy is in danger of being lost as a result of the public backlash against high oil prices. He said environmental concerns were noticeably lacking during the current protests in western Europe over high fuel prices. "You didn't hear the British Government or its counterparts in continental Europe saying that the basis for high fuel prices was environmental concerns for clean air," he said." [6]

More Cases of Bse as yet another Maffia Prediction fails.

It is announced that a Calf has recently contracted bse - even though the maffia had been predicting since march 1996 that no Calf born after august 1st 1996, the first day of the ban on the use of Cattle protein in Animal feed,  would contract bse. Yet another prediction gone wrong.

The Morons have been Feeding Cattle with Bse-Infected Blood: First Appearance of Harriet Kimball.

That Calves are still contracting bse is hardly surprising since the stupid, corrupt, liars, in the maffia are still allowing the use of Cattle blood, gelatin, etc in Cattle feed - and thereby preserving the ancient pharming practice of cannibalism in the brutish Animal exploitation industry. They did this because if they’d admitted that bse was in Cattle blood then they would have had to ban bseef. So, in order to protect the consumption of bseef they had to pretend that bse didn’t exist in blood, “We consider blood a safe product for Cattle, so long as Cattle have been killed for human consumption. [7]

Steve dealler reports on a sunday times article suggesting another 8 Cattle, born after the policy came into force, could have contracted bse, “One bse case has been confirmed and 8 are in the process of being histologically assessed that were born since the feed ban of 1996. This was not at all clear to be vertical transmission and so the recent reports suggesting that blood may be infectious in many species. (See Lacey 1991, Dealler 1993,4) suggested that these cases may well have been due to the feeding of cattle with blood. It was not realised by many people but blood and gelatin were felt to be of no infectivity by seac and hence were permitted to be fed to further cattle even when derived from bovine origins. The confirmed cow was born in August 1996 and records reveal that the farm was clear of meat and bone meal - the feed suspected of spreading bse. Also, the mother has showed no symptoms of bse. Maff data show that 22,000 tons of cow material including blood, gelatin and tallow are fed to cows each year. The author, Jonathan Leake continues to write on page 14 Madness in the blood? It explains how the action of feeding cattle with bovine products managed to continue and why seac did not stop it. In a statement by Baroness Hayman this year it says these products are not commonly used in bovine feed. The article explains how seac took the decision that there was no major risk from the products but its notes shows that quite inadequate evidence to show this and this does not seem to have been indicated to seac. Harriet Kimball, the civil lawyer that is on seac said "John Collinge has always been against (that practice of feeding bovine material to cattle) but we were assured that there is no infectivity in blood and so we allowed renderers to continue to use it in feedstuffs".[8] Dealler’s comments about this are as follows, “This is absolutely awful if the writer of the article puts it over correctly. It has been shown to seac repeatedly that in the case of bse one must assume the risks to be present unless they are shown not to be so.” In this work, this is the first mention of harriet kimball who must be a new member of seac. Quite what this woman is doing on this committee is not known. Her name will reappear a few more times throughout this work.

Bse in Cattle Blood.

Channel four follows up on the sunday times concern about the continuing use of Cattle blood, gelatin etc in Cattle feed. Nick brown is interviewed and comes over as a pathetic, snivelling, puppet of the Animal exploitation industry. He regurgitates pharmers’ propaganda about how safe meat is even though he has no evidence about the amounts of bse in Cattle blood. He points out that the 30 month ban is in place and that this stops the transmission of bse to oomans even though it was recently shown that bse is infective long before the host shows any symptoms of the disease. His denialism of the problem condemns more people to an early grave. Brown is nothing more than a great fat, useless, bseef eating, lying, mass murderer.

Corbin’s Cop-out.

Jane corbin presents a panorama documentary on the recent pharmers’ insurrection.[9] If there’s one media journalist who is capable of highlighting the main actors behind the fuel insurrection i.e. the pharmers who have been blockading industries across the country for the last three years, it’s jane corbin. A couple of years ago, she presented a panorama documentary highlighting pharmers’ rent-a-mob, flying picket, tactics in their fight for an increase in their bse subsidies. However, she completely fails to mention any of this highly pertinent background in today’s panorama - of course, if it had been the socialist workers party carrying out such an insurrection she would have doubtlessly detailed their previous blockading activities as meticulously as she could. Such is her pathetic middle class mentality - she’s also married to a bloke with an interesting career as well. She presents the dispute as if it arose because pharmers, hauliers, and motorists, suddenly became fed up with petrol price rises and, after accidentally meeting each other at a Cattle auction, just spontaneously launched a good humoured national taxpayers’ revolt.

Instead of exposing the militant past of the pharmers who started off the insurrection, she has a quiet, amiable, fireside chat with them to try and find out why such nice, normal, people had suddenly decided to take the rather drastic leap into blockading oil refineries. She mentions in passing that, “Mr swan (a north wales pharmer and head of Pharmers for Endless subsidies) was first involved in direct action during the bse protests three years ago.” but she believes this doesn’t have any relevance to what happened.

Even more surprising is that she neglects to mention that another pharmer she interviews about his involvement in the fuel protest, brynle williams, had been involved in the holyhead demonstration in 1997 when a lorry was hijacked and its contents thrown into the sea. The police have never found the culprits of this act of criminality - primarily because they haven’t bothered to look because they believe that pharmers are free to cause as much criminal damage as they wish. What is so surprising about corbin’s failure to mention this highly pertinent fact is that it is mentioned on the bbc’s website, “As vice chairman of the Farmers' Union of Wales, Mr Williams also helped set up the more militant Farmers for Action. And he was instrumental in organising mass demonstrations at Holyhead in north Wales two years ago over meat imports."[10] To have done so would have undermined the case she was making that pharmers were only incidental to the fuel protests.

Notice that brynle williams is a member of the national pharmers union. Now the last thing this very prestigious organization wants is to be associated with rioters, looters and insurrectionists because they have their own office inside the maffia where they write out the policies that ministers have to implement. Will williams is another member of the national pharmers union who supported the anglesey looters, “Up to 400 farmers gathered at holyhead and port officials agreed that all trucks carrying beef or beef products from ireland on the three ferries would be sent back. The burger lorry was attacked as it was being re-loaded into the high speed ferry. But will williams, vice chairman of the anglesey branch of the pharmers union of wales supported the action .. “we are supposed to be part of europe but we do not have a level playing field.[11]

Corbin mentions none of these highly pertinent facts about the birth of the fuel protest, “As fuel prices rose over the summer, feelings in the pharming community, already high over the agricultural recession, reached boiling point. A meeting was held in the livestock ring of a north wales market town on that thursday evening.” As far as she is concerned, the reason so many oil refineries were blockaded in such a short space of time was due to a spontaneous combustion around the country rather than because, for the past three years, a tightly-knit group of pharmers had become highly proficient in organizing blockades around the country. Instead of showing the way that these leaders were using the network they had built up over the past three years to organize the fuel blockades she suggests pharmers just happened to be phoning up these people to find out the latest news about the dispute! According to clive swan people were ringing him up to ask what was going on rather than him organizing flying pickets around the country. Corbin then interviews another pharmer, richard haddock, in devon, who reveals he provoked panic buying of petrol in the south west by phoning up the local media and telling them the oil refinery in plymouth was going to be blockaded. Quite why he should have done this of his own accord without the slightest proddings from other pharmers is not explored. But he was quite blatant about the fact that he intended to provoke panic buying and he even congratulated himself for having stampeded motorists into emptying the region’s petrol stations without getting out of his armchair. This seems to suggest that the rumour which triggered off further panic buying a few days after the end of the dispute, was also deliberate.

Now richard haddock is an interesting bloke. He’d also got a bit of a history blockading people’s businesses, “Richard Haddock, a spokesman for the militant Farmers for Action group, which was blockading Tesco and Unigate depots yesterday, said: "The blockades will continue until we get a better deal to secure our long-term future.[12]

It has to be wondered what relationship richard haddock is to brian haddock ..”the militant farmers' leader, predicted Blair will face `a very very rough reception' if he goes to the NFU without an aid package. He also said it would be disastrous news for the `softly, softly' tactics of the current NFU leadership. Haddock, seen as the rank- and-file champion, is expected to be elected vice-president of the union later this week. He said yesterday: `I want the NFU to change and link up the Countryside Alliance, the tenant farmers, the village post offices, the local pubs, the parish councils. As farmers we are only 2 per cent of the vote. If we form a wider alliance, we will be 25 per cent of the vote and a voice that cannot be ignored.'”[13]

The main new insights provided by corbin’s programme were firstly, that one of the reasons for the oil companies’ refusal to act was that they had tried for four days to get in touch with ministers about the dispute but had failed to get hold of anyone until monday. No wonder they washed their hands of the matter. Secondly, that P&O employed many of the tanker drivers but made no effort to get them to make deliveries. Corbin shows video footage of prescott complaining that the pharmers don’t pay any taxes on their tractors. She highlights the role played by bill morris in getting the tanker drivers to start working again.

On the whole the programme is highly sympathetic to the non-blockading blockaders. She doesn’t interrogate them over whether they were blockading the refineries or intimidating drivers. She finishes off with a rhetorical flourish mocking the real origins of the dispute, “A group of protesters who came down from the hills and the fields of north wales and tapped into the public mood are not yet satisfied.” Why this makes them sound like a pack of Wolves about to attack those docile, anti-political, livestock in the plains.

The Collapse of Green Reformism.

A commentator believes the dispute has ended the prospect of any further green taxes, “The protests may not lead to any fuel tax reductions, but they have certainly driven a stake through the heart of any new proposals for British, or indeed European, carbon or energy taxes. This is causing consternation among Britain's environmental organisations, which have long been wedded to the belief that only dramatically higher energy taxes could save the planet from the ravages of climate change. They have praised Brown's green credentials, and relentlessly criticised Blair for his lack of interest in environmental matters. Much of the British environmental movement's political strategy has been based on working with Brown to promote a shift from taxing "goods", such as capital and labour, to taxing "bads", such as pollution and resource consumption. This strategy now lies in ruins. As the public has quite rightly discerned, the fuel duty escalator was always a revenue-raising device. It might have helped to maintain the green fig leaf for this tax had any of the £10bn in additional taxes extracted from us actually been spent on the environment. [14]

In the past, greens insisted on making environmental improvements through government regulation. However, after two decades of thatcherite free market propaganda[15] greens like jonathon porritt and sara parkin, abandoned this path and sought environmental improvements through changes in taxation. The approach to had potential but clearly the fuel insurrection has dealt it a crippling defeat. Burke is wrong that the fuel escalator wasn’t working - it was working to an extent. It was only the sheer historical misfortune that pharmers jumped on the petrol issue for their own benefit that brought the policy down - it wasn’t motorists or hauliers themselves. But burke is right firstly, about the lack of political support to constantly justify green taxes and, secondly, the gross misuse of the revenue raised through green taxes. If politicians don’t constantly justify such taxes by reference to green ideals then they are liable to fail in winning public support. And, as the mundi club has stated before, if the monies raised from green taxes isn’t spent on environmental issues then the environmental benefits are negated because the money could easily be spent on projects which damage the Earth. If blair is a boneless moron then brown has cleverly exploited the environmental movement for his own purposes.

Labour Party Conference.
Blair’s Labour Party Speech.

Blair delivers his labour party conference speech after the pharmers’ insurrection and with an eye on the next general election. It’s full of the usual vile oomano-imperialist arrogance aimed at glorifying the biped master race. There is no mention of Animals or Wildlife. The oomano-imperialist war against Biodiversity is assumed to have been won. The environment is mentioned in one phrase - apparently the country is “leading at kyoto” although he doesn’t mention what kyoto is so millions of people listening to his speech must have wondered what he is talking about. He doesn’t mention bse and makes just one, positive, reference to pharmers. The reason he cannot talk about the environment is because it will be perceived by insurrectionist pharmers, and the rural rabble behind them, as a refusal to reduce the price of fuel. So yet again, those in the countryside are leading the forces of anti-environmentalism in this country. But, as the mundi club has stated so often, pharmers are the Earth’s biggest Earth rapists, so this should not be surprising.

The Bubble of Unreality at the Conference.

The labour party conference focuses on the health service, education, and pensioners. It is as if the fuel protests which, a few weeks ago nearly brought about an economic collapse, have been virtually forgotten. Pensioners are regarded as having a far bigger influence on the next general election than pharmers and motorists so the labour party wants to meet their demands rather than those of the protestors. It’s like entering a completely different bubble of reality from the one inhabited by the media which is still preoccupied with giving free publicity to the insurrectionists’ demands. Conference-goers seem to have discounted future fuel protests and to have got back to what is, for them, the main political priority - pensions. It is as if the events of the last fortnight had never happened and a repeat of such events would not posed a threat to the government.

Government’s Reluctance to fund Bse-cjd Victims - unless they’re Pharmers.

Dealler reports that the government doesn’t want to pay compensation to bse-cjd victims.[16] “This was in a leaked document from civil servants and circulated within the government urging them not to offer payment to vCJD victims.[17]

September 30th 2000: Another Death in Queniborough.

Another victim has died in queniborough.[18] Dealler argues .. “this is the fifth case associated with the village. No reason has yet been found for this. The case was known to the researchers for some time beforehand.[19] The mirror reports, “A frightened village is mourning its fourth victim of the human form of mad cow disease. Farm worker christopher reeve, 24, suffered months of pain before dying last week. All four victims of cjd lived in the queniborough area of leicestershire’s wreake valley.[20]

Undated Diary Entry: French announce Results of extensive tests on Bse in Cattle.

The french government announces the results of its bse tests on french Cattle (apologies - but date not yet found). At some point in the past the french government decided to carry out tests on a large number of Cattle to find the truth about the spread of bse since it was obvious that, as was the case in bseland, it would not get the truth from pharmers who were desperately covering up any outbreaks for fear of losing their entire herds. The government was highly concerned about protecting public health after the haemophilia blood transfusion disaster. In a remarkable display of openness, the government publishes the bse figures - after all, it is trying to allay fears about the spread of the disease. It seems confident the french public can handle the truth and, unlike in brutland where the announcement in march 1996 of bse-cjd fatalities triggered off a wave of public shock, this did not happen in france.

The results show there are dozens more cases of bse. Although the results cast doubts about the safety of french bseef, the french public realise that if it wasn’t for these tests then these Cattle would have ended up in the foodchain. The results should also calm people’s fears insofaras they prevent any bse infected Animal getting into the feed chain. However, the publication of the results did not lead to a dissipation of people’s concerns about bse because the public realized that the government couldn’t prevent pharmers from putting such Animals into the feedchain.

What is of interest here is that the brutish government did not publicize the french test results. This was firstly, because it was being blackmailed by pharmers into reducing petrol taxes so it didn’t want to upset them by mentioning bse. Although the fuel insurrection supposedly had nothing to do with bse it has an obvious link through pharmers. Secondly, the last thing the brutish government wanted to do was draw a comparison between itself and a conscientious government which cared for its citizens’ health. Thirdly, if brutish people were told about the tests they might start asking why the brutish government wasn’t doing exactly the same in brutland. Brutish governments, both tory and labour, have been implacably against the testing of Animals in abattoirs because they know the damage the results would do to the recovery of the bseef industry and they have always been more concerned with protecting the financial health of pharmers than health of the brutish public.

What is also of interest here is that the French bse results weren’t mentioned in the brutish press - which is why it is so difficult to find information about them. The brutish media did not report it either because they supported pharmers or the government. It would be uncharitable to call brutish journalists a bunch of pathetic, money grubbin’, immoral shits but it would be accurate.

October 4th 2000: Reporter Condemns Lies over Bse; Mysterious Movements in the Spleen.

Allison pearson complains about the government’s lies over the bse epidemic. Unfortunately she supports the maffia’s explanation of the way the disease spreads through the body after it has been absorbed in the stomach, “After eating bse-contaminated meat, a person incubates the infection in his or her spleen; approximately 10 years later it travels up the spinal column into the brain which it then destroys ...” [21] How does it get from the stomach to the spleen? How does it get from the spleen to the spinal cord? How does it travel up the spinal cord? It’s a shame she does not question the maffia’s alcoholic explanation which seems almost entirely untouched by scientific evidence. She repeats speculation that the government does not want to give compensation to victims, “A whitehall letter leaked last week revealed that the present government does not want to pay compensation. [22]

October 5th 2000: Greenpeace involvement in Fuel Disputes.

So far the green movement has shown little interest in the fuel protests. It hasn’t made any attempt to organize counter demonstrations. However, thankfully, greenpeace decides it will get involved, “Greenpeace is preparing to campaign head to head against fuel protesters, if blockades of oil refineries go ahead next month. The environmental group said it would send teams to each blockaded venue to argue the green case for maintaining the current level of fuel duty. The tax is "justified to stop climate change and improve air quality," the group said. Greenpeace policy director Stephen Tindale told a business conference in London, attended by Trade and Industry Secretary Stephen Byers, that the government had been "running away from the real justification for a fuel tax - to stop climate change and improve air quality. Executive director Lord Melchett added: "The government could turn the fuel protests into an asset if they responded by directing a small fraction of oil revenues towards alternatives like hydrogen fuel cells, biofuels and clean power from the sun, the wind and the waves. "This is an historic opportunity to break our addiction to fossil fuels, massively improve the quality of our lives and generate a new hi-tech industry for Britain."”[23]

October 7th 2000: Blair Rabbit makes Pro-Euro Speech.

Blair is a pro-european but has rarely said anything positive about europe because of his fear of antagonizing the euro-sceptic loons of which many are green in hue. However, for the first time he outlines his support for greater co-operation within europe over defence issues. He .. “called for the european union to be overhauled to win the confidence of its citizens. The premier said, “Such a europe can be a superpower. A superpower - but not a superstate.”[24]

October 8th 2000: ‘John Snow Looks at the Bseef Issue’.

Dealler reports on john snow’s television programme about bse, “The first program in the month about how experts in the field were not asked for their opinion, experts when asked seem to have prevented information from getting through, politicians made decisions apparently without data to make them, senior civil servants were pressurised to make misleading public statements to the press and public, and inadequate research took place. Various people came out as being particularly poor: Richard Kimberlin was put over as not giving data to the Tyrrell Committee even though he had already given it to the pet food industry. Sir Donald Acheson is interviewed as saying that he definitely did not think that beef was safe ... and then a TV interview at the time is shown in which he makes its safety clear. The program basically shows how 'the Conservative Government, the meat industry and the civil service colluded to convince the public' that all was safe. There was a lot more data that did not get shown in the program and it is expected that further programs will appear later in the month.[25] These days, television programmes about bse are rare.

October 11th 2000: ‘Aahhh barr gum, I Slit my Animals throats so why should any of them have Bse-Cjd?’

Pharmers have the right to slaughter Animals on their pharms. Many of them are even trying to claim the right to shoot burglars in the back, at point blank range, without warning. It was mentioned in tf17 that the criminal pharming underworld was involved in providing offals for ooman consumption - see the diary entry dated June 6-8th 2000. Pharmers are plainly the source for the flourishing underground bseef market in london. As a consequence the fsa wants to try and block this route for bse-infected material into the feedchain, “Farmers could face new curbs on privately slaughtered beef amid fears that bse-infected meat is entering the food chain. John krebs, chairman of the fsa, gave warning that beef killed on a farm or at an unlicensed abattoir falls outside bse controls. Krebs is also worried that high-risk parts of cattle might not be removed in private slaughter and the meat could enter the food chain. New controls are being considered.[26] If such a law is enacted, which is highly unlikely under a labour government, the national pharmers’ union would doubtlessly defend this right in the court of ooman rights insisting that all pharmers should have the fundamental right to slit the throats of any Animal they see fit.

October 12th 2000: French National Foods under Threat.

The french public’s anxieties about the spread of bse in france are increasing - despite the government’s attempt to use its research into french bse to calm such fears. Dealler highlights an ‘independent’ article that one of france’s national dishes, charcuterie, is coming under increasing suspicion of bse contamination, “After 12 months of hesitation and half measures it seems that the French Govt will ban the use of bovine intestines for use in various sausages. This is looked on by the industry as serious because of the long French history of charcuterie that depend to some degree on intestinal skins.[27]

October 13th 2000: The Day’s Events.

Floods in Brutland.

“Torrential rain brought flood chaos to southern england yesterday causing millions of pounds damage. Six rivers burst their banks after up to 5.5 inches of rain fell in 24 hours - the average for two months - wreaking havoc across kent, sussex, hampshire, the isle of wight and devon.[28]

Motorists not getting enough Subsidies.

Quentin willson is doing his best to stoke up public support for the second fuel tax insurrection, “It’s official. Uk motorists are the most legislated against and heavily taxed group in europe. The latest body blow to the car owners wallet is a 50% hike in motoring fines from november 1st. From parking tickets alone, the treasury common fund is swollen by over £3 billion a year. Last year our 52 police forces handed out close to a million speeding fines.”[29]

Teletubbies demanding Cheaper fuel; Labour Government Backtracking over Fuel.

The fuel protestors do not seem to be calming down during their self-imposed 60 day cooling-off period. The press reports that the government is seeking compromise deals to avoid more blockades, “Gordon Brown is reportedly considering further concessions to the road hauliers to avoid further protests over high fuel prices. Lorry drivers and farmers are demanding government action by 13 november or they threaten to resume the blockades, which brought much of Britain to a standstill last month. Brynle Williams, who led the first refinery blockade in September, said the suggestion that rural motorists might get a £110 discount on their road tax was an "insult". Mr Williams warned that the government was not going far enough to satisfy the fuel protesters. "Mr Blair is deceiving the public, lulling them into a false sense of security that prices at the pumps aren't going to escalate. "What we want is parity with Europe. The government have done nothing in the last 30 days to suggest that. "Mr Blair is playing a game of brinkmanship, and it is a very dangerous game.""[30]

Stock Market Falls - Pharmers’ Demanding more Compensation for loss of Share Values.

“The stock market rallied yesterday after opening with £10 billion wiped off the value of shares amid the middle east crisis.[31]

Cost of the Floods in Brutland.

.. “insurance firms braced themselves for £4 billion worth of claims following the worst flooding in 30 years. It is britain’s biggest freak weather bill and four times the cost of the 1987 hurricane. Yesterday waters which devastated homes and businesses across the south east were subsiding. But there was more flooding in kent and flood alerts went out in the midlands. They include the rivers wreake, soar, trent, blythe, avon and severn. Jeffrey salmon, of salmon assessors, said, “This looks as if it is going to be britain’s costliest natural disaster. The flooding is likely to cost insurers more than £2 billion. However, the actual cost could top £4 billion when you include those who are not insured ...”[32] These insurance claims are so wild they are a blatantly example of insurers trying to push up their premiums.

October 16th 2000: The Day’s Events.

Zionists murdering defenceless Palestinians Exacerbates the Bse Issue.

Events around the world continue to influence the bse issue. The fear of conflict in the middle east has unsettled the stock markets and is driving up the price of oil which is adding to the brutish government’s problems with the country’s stroppy, whinging pharmers, “If the israelis and the palestinians are at war, then it must be the most one-sided in history - a military superpower against a nation of refugees, soldiers with automatic weapons against civilians with stones, a highly trained army against an undisciplined mob. But what has the war got to do with us? You mean apart from the increased risk of terrorism in our cities, the soaring price of oil, the collapses of the stock markets, the battering of our economy, the probability of rising inflation, and the subsequent loss of countless jobs.[33]

Cheap Apology but no admission of Guilt.

Tim yeo apologizes for the tory government’s handling of the bse slaughter but does not admit to any crime against Cattlekind or oomanocruels. He still believes everything he believed before the announcement of bse-cjd fatalities and still supports the pharmers as vigorously as ever, “A top tory has finally apologized to families for his government’s botched handling of the crisis. Shadow agriculture minister tim yeo said, “I recognize mistakes were made. We deeply regret the loss of life” But somerset farmer derek mead said, “If they want to say sorry they can get us the compensation we are still waiting for.”[34]

Labour to spend £800m to combat Urban Decay.

Whilst the government is providing pharmers and rural areas with vast subsidies it has more or less forgotten the people who voted for the labour party at the last general election. The government is now trying to cover its back over its capitulation to the landowning, pharming aristocracy by proposing to spend relatively piffling amounts of money to combat urban decay in both the inner cities and outer estates, “More than 80 rundown estates will today share a £800 million government windfall to help them break free of poverty. John prescott will hand out the cash to 88 councils which will ask residents how they want to spend it.”[35] The government reannounces this spending a few weeks later - see November 9th 2000: Government’s Re-announcement of £1 billion aid for Urban Areas.

October 18th 2000: Pharmers’ Gird up for Protests.

Fool protestors issue more propaganda about the next fuel insurrection. David handley has created a new organization, ‘the people’s fuel lobby’ to try and extend support beyond militant pharmers to the tiny masses of enormously wealthy tories in rural areas. This indicates a split between the two main fat, bseef-eating, teletubbies leading the fuel insurrection - david handley and brynle williams, “Truckers and farmers demanding cuts in fuel tax are threatening to stage a mass rally of up to one million demonstrators in London. Campaigners reiterated their demands for cuts in fuel tax and a new system of charging foreign trucks to the chancellor on Wednesday. But while some threaten a wider scale protest if their demands are not met, other leaders have called for a mass rally. Chairman of the People's Fuel Lobby, David Hanley, told hauliers and farmers in Gateshead the oil refinery pickets and traffic chaos would not work again. He said the campaign should follow the lead of the Countryside Alliance rallies over rural issues and gather one million protesters in Hyde Park. But another leading figure in the recent protests, Paul Ashley, has suggested a repeat of more direct action. "I could see the blockades being considerably more extended and considerably more spread through the country," Mr Ashley told the BBC Six O'Clock News. "[36] Although it’s doubtful that the countryside alliance wants to be publicly associated with people threatening to bring about an economic collapse and political insurrection, most of its members do.

October 19th 2000: The Day’s Events.

Rise in Petrol Prices.

The fears of another increase of another war in the middle east there is yet another increase in the price of petrol which boosts the prospects for another eco-nazis’ fuel insurrection in brutland.

French Blamed, yet again, for all Brutland’s Problems. Harriet Kimbell - Another Beef Lover on Seac.

Purely coincidentally, harriet kimbell, a new member of seac, makes a public announcement about the dangers of eating french bseef, “One member of the Spongiform Encephalopathy advisory committee (seac) which advises ministers on bse and vcjd - the human form of bse - urged people not to eat French beef at all. The deputy chairwoman of the Consumers' Association, Professor Harriet Kimbell said she had ordered her sons to leave beef alone on a family trip to the French Alps last year. She told a seac news briefing at the Ministry of Agriculture in London: "I took my sons to Club Med last year. "I told them what was beef, and what they were to help themselves to. I instructed them not to eat the beef - they were very upset. "Tourists should be made aware that it may well be that British beef is now safer than it is in some other European countries." [37] Not surprisingly, her statement is widely quoted across the pharmer-loving brutish media.

Kimbell’s statement is interesting because she is implying that whilst french bseef is not safe to eat, it is safe to eat brutish bseef. Her bigotry is amazing. Firstly, as far as is known, she has never in the past made a public statement that brutish bseef was unsafe to eat. She might have gained some credibility for objectivity if, at some point in the past, she had appeared in public stating that brutish beef was not safe. It is truly amazing the number of people who have never made a derogatory comment about the safety of brutish bseef are now complaining about the safety of french bseef. Secondly, there is not the slightest bit of evidence to confirm her view because for the last fifteen years or so the brutish government has refused to investigate the scale of bse amongst Cattle being slaughtered in the country’s abattoirs. As has been noted in the dairy entry for september 24th, she knew the brutish Animal exploitation industry was still supplying 22,000 tonnes of bse-infected blood for Cattle feed and she knew that one of the country’s leading bse scientists deplored such cannibalistic practices and yet she still implies that brutish beef is safe! Thirdly, she states she was refusing to eat french bseef a year ago when there were still thousands of bse cases in brutish herds - and considering the disease was appearing in Cattle under 30 months of age this shows just how virulent the disease still is in brutish herds.

One point that needs to be made about kimbell is that she has only just been elected to the seac committee. It seems to be a rite of passage that as soon as pharmers have appointed a new person to this committee they are under a moral obligation to make a public declaration of their devotion to the brutish bseef industry. It’s also amazing that as soon as people get onto this committee they feel justified in spouting the most rancid lot of nonsense, whilst assuming scientific authority. The government regards seac as the country’s premier scientific committee on bse so anything she says will be deemed to be scientific or to have scientific backing. The only possible reason why this so-called scientific committee, which is supposed to take decisions solely on scientific grounds, has so many non-bse scientific members is because this is another maffia tactic for manipulating both bse scientists and the brutish public. The maffia puts bseef-loving crackpots onto this committee to prevent the scientists on seac from telling the truth about bse and, secondly, to give these crackpots scientific credibility when spouting their lies about the safety of brutish bseef.

It is should be noted that it is peculiar that so many members on seac, both scientists and non-scientists, have large appetites for brutish bseef - indeed in march 1996 when they were discussing what needed to be done after the government’s announcement of bse-cjd fatalities, the seac committee signalled their commitment to the bseef industry by informing the media that brutish bseef was on the menu. One thing is for sure - this committee doesn’t have any vegetarians on it. Whenever this committee says something positive about brutish bseef the government refers to it as a scientific committee giving scientific advice and yet it is not a scientific committee - it’s just a front organization for the bseef industry. Even a decade or so after it was set up, the seac committee is full of bseef industry supporters. Both tory and labour governments have succeeded in appointing the most appalling pro-bseef idiots to this committee, whilst refusing to appoint bse specialists, in order to prevent it from recommending major action against the bseef industry.

It was quoted above that harriet kimbell was a lawyer. It now transpires she is also deputy chair of the consumers' association. She may have been appointed to seac as a consumers’ representative. In which case it is more likely she was appointed as a representative for consumers of brutish bseef. In other words, she has a vested interest in bseef consumption, and thus the bseef industry, as opposed to those scientists trying to present the truth. The maffia has managed to appoint another bseef industry stooge onto the committee. The fact that she is from the consumers’ association is intended to give the public considerable reassurance that she will protect consumers’ health but almost the first thing she does after her appointment is make the completely unscientific statement that brutish bseef is safe - what a faker.

In the countdown to the next pharmers’ insurrection, the boneless blair government is slithering around looking for ways to help pharmers in the hope they’ll go home and count their subsidies so this bit of pro-beef propaganda is deemed to be helpful. Once again, france is picked out as the obvious enemy when the brutish government needs to publicly defend brutish pharmers.

Further anxieties over Bse in France.

The bse crisis continues to build up in france, “Numbers of cases of bse in France are increasing rapidly and yet they do not ban cattle over 30 months old getting into human food. The French Agriculture Minister described Kimbell's comments as 'absurd'.” As dealler points out, the french government does have great difficulty in stopping the use of specific offals in that they make up highly recommended and national foods.[38]

October 20th 2000: The Day’s Events.

The Banning of the Polio Vaccine made from Bseef.

Over the last few months the labour government’s complacency over bse-cjd has been rattled since it was realized there is going to be a bse-cjd epidemic. One of the puzzling features of the disease is that it seems to be affecting young people more than older people so one of the obvious explanations for this, besides baby food and cheap burgers, is vaccinations. What makes the onset of a bse-cjd epidemic even more likely was the discovery a few weeks ago that Calves are still contracting the disease because the maffia is still permitting the use of 22,000 tonnes of Animal blood, gelatin and tallow, in Cattle feed. Gelatin is also used in the manufacture of vaccines. Antibiotics are also made using foetal Calf serum. So, when it was discovered that Calves are still getting bse it was forced to check on vaccine companies to ensure they were using foreign supplies of gelatin and foetal serum. One of them wasn’t.

Polio Vaccine is being made from Brutish Bseef.

The government makes a major public announcement that it is to stop the use of a polio vaccine manufactured by the medeva company because it has discovered the company is still using foetal Calf serum from brutish Cattle to grow the polio enterovirus antibiotic, “Vaccine production uses foetal calf serum, from pregnant cows, to help grow cells using different polio strains. A vaccine using the British material was put on the market by Wellcome in 1989. But in 1991 it was bought by Medeva, which added two strains of its own to a new product.” [39] Over the years the vaccine has been given to millions of children, “An estimated 35m doses of the vaccine produced by Medeva between 1991 and this week have been given to young children, teenagers receiving booster doses and travellers. It accounted for a third of all oral polio vaccine administered.” [40] This is another propaganda howler for the brutish Animal exploitation industry - having to admit that the country’s biggest vaccine manufacturer has been lying to cover up its use of bovine material from brutish herds.

The Factory Producing the Polio Vaccine was a Shambles.

It emerges that the factory producing the polio vaccines was a shambles and a virtual hazard to health, "The drug factory at the centre of the polio vaccine scandal has a history of contamination and production blunders, leading to fears that its vaccines against other diseases are unsafe. Last year, investigators from the u.s. food and drug administration were horrified by the conditions they found at the plant in speke, near liverpool, which also makes vaccines against flu, tuberculosis, tetanus, and hepatitis B. Last october the fda's director of compliance, steven masiello, fired off an official warning letter to medeva's head of primary production, john o'brian, telling him to sort out the problems or have its products banned from entering the u.s.”[41]

What this case reveals is that neither tory nor labour governments have done anything over the previous decade to ensure the company was following the government’s guidelines, “Today's shocking revelation that a common polio vaccine grown using material from British cows has been in use since early in the bse crisis should perhaps not really be so surprising. The history of incompetence in identifying and managing risk, and a tendency to cohabit with the beef industry rather than with consumers displayed by agriculture and health officials during the crisis, has been glaringly exposed during the two year bse inquiry whose report is published next week.”[42]

The government’s ban on medeva’s vaccines gives the public the impression that it is rigorously policing its anti-bse regulations but, as usual, this is completely misleading because nick brown and the maffia had done nothing about the american health investigators report on the appalling conditions in the factory. The government alleges that when it questioned medeva about whether it was using brutish bseef, the company insisted it was not. It was only later that the company admitted that it had been secretly doing so. This once again reveals that the Animal exploitation industry has not taken bse-cjd seriously - primarily because of the scorn poured on it by tory and labour politicians.

The Legal Situation over the use of Bse-infected Material.

As a consequence of the southwood report, the tory government recommended that vaccine manufacturers should not use bovine material from brutish herds in the manufacture of vaccines. However, the tories, being free-market loons, didn’t bother to pass any laws to ban the practice. So, legally, even though the company had been using brutish bseef for the last ten years, it had not broken any laws, “Guidelines to ban the use of bovine material from bse-affected countries in vaccines have been in place since 1989, three years after bse was identified. Until last year these were primarily aimed at those injected into people, but the Department of Health said the spirit of the measures was meant to apply to oral treatments as well. There was unlikely to be any legal action against the suppliers because guidelines are not finally turned into law until next year.[43]

The lawless nature of brutish vaccine manufacturing, however, was only going to end next year because of a plan by the european commission to regulate the industry. The government accepted the change in april 2000. What this seems to suggest is that it was, yet again, the european commission which forced the brutish government to adopt safety legislation which otherwise it would not have adopted because of its commitment to the bseef industry. The discovery that brutish bseef was being used in polio vaccines was thus not due exclusively to the efforts of the brutish government - it was partly because the european commission was insisting on action.

Just how many more examples of the tory and labour governments’ barbaric practices is it necessary to uncover before the public decides the Animal exploitation industry is run by a bunch of pathological liars who can’t be trusted and that governments are there to protect the interests of these mass murderers from public scrutiny? It wasn’t the brutish government which discovered that the medeva factory was in a mess but the american government which sent a health inspection team across the atlantic to check out the company. It’s amazing to think that the health of brutish people is more dependent upon american bureaucrats than the sloppy, slovenly, degenerate, brutish health authorities. But even though their report revealed the appalling conditions in the factory, which of course is standard throughout the brutish Animal exploitation industry, the government did nothing to improve these conditions to prevent even more people ending up with diseased vaccines in their blood. If the european commission hadn’t insisted on laws against the use of bse infected material then the brutish government would have just allowed the company to continue doing whatever it wanted.

The Pharmers’ Response.

The brutish pharmers’ response to the ban on the use of bse-infected brutish bseef in polio vaccines is not a celebration that the health of the brutish public is being safeguarded but anger that brutish Cattle with sub-clinical bse are not being used in brutish medicines. It confirms the pariah status of brutish bseef pharmers as the world’s biggest poisoners. The ban is bound to exacerbate the anger of the rent-a-mob pharmers in the fuel tax protests. The brutish government knew the banning of this vaccine was not simply a question of, at long last, protecting the health of the brutish people but facing up to the political wroth of picketing pharmers who would be appalled by this decision.

The effect of the fuel protests is making all decisions bearing on pharmers’ interests more and more politically difficult. If the government takes any action which impacts on pharmers’ interests it knows this will stiffen pharmers’ resolve to take retaliatory action through further fuel protests. The government is thus becoming reluctant to take action over any pharming issue, even those relating to public health, because of the fear being instilled into them by demented pharmers pursuing their insurrectionary objective. It is appalling that pharmers are using the fuel protests to turn issues, even those far removed from fuel prices, into political footballs. Even the issue of polio vaccines becomes a highly charged political affair which makes the government reluctant to take action when it knows it will infuriate the country’s pharmers and boost the prospects of another fuel tax protest. The government knows that taking action over this company will be perceived as taking a hard line against the pharmers which will provoke pharmers into taking an even harder line.

The Media Response.

The vaccine story is picked up by a wide range of newspapers and on television. The sole concern of the government spokespeople interviewed about the ban is calming fears about another bse crisis not in telling the truth about the dangers posed to ooman health.

Oxford Mail

The oxford mail, a rustic provincial newspaper, gives the story a big front page splash. However, rather than warning people about the threats posed by these contaminated vaccines it goes out of its way to protect pharmers’ interests. It is the custom in the newspaper industry that big front page shock revelations lead to editorial condemnations but in this case both the front page splash and the editorial are used to calm people’s fears by pretending that it is just an insignificant accident. It doesn’t seem to understand any of the issues involved in this revelation, “Thousands of oxfordshire children have been given a polio vaccine which has been recalled amid fears over cjd. Up until september, medeva commanded a third of the market and it is estimated that thousands of oxfordshire children received the medication. Medeva contains a growth agent made from uk foetal calf serum - a product banned from use in medicines since 1999.”[44] The oxford mail’s editorial urges .. “calmness all round, followed by a cool, hard look at the facts. The vaccine has been withdrawn as a precaution. As far as the department of health is concerned, no child has shown symptoms of cjd.[45] But then isn’t this exactly what the government could say about everyone before they display the symptoms of their bse contamination?

The Media’s Evasion of the Truth.

There is some limp-wristed wringing of hands in the media but most of the pharmer-loving media avoids the real issues:

Why didn’t the government pay any heed to the report by american health officials about the appalling state of the factory producing vaccines?

Why was the government allowing the use of placental material from Cattle in the culturing of vaccines?

Why was the government continuing to allow the manufacture of gelatin when it had no way of being able to guarantee that every single Animal being slaughtered was free from bse?

Why was the government continuing to allow the use of gelatin not only in Animal feed but in vaccines?

What was the involvement of richard kimberlain given that he is in the vaccine business and is on seac, the government’s so-called scientific committee?

Petrol Price Rise; Straw Girds up for Protests.

Jack straw has been put in charge of averting the next fuel tax insurrection. He launches the government’s propaganda offensive, “Home Secretary Jack Straw has visited the refinery where last month's fuel crisis began. He toured Stanlow refinery in Cheshire and met with managers, tanker drivers, unions and police. The government is determined to avoid a repeat of the fuel blockades which crippled the UK and created its biggest crisis since coming to power in 1997. A 2p hike on the cost of a litre of petrol, caused by rising crude oil prices, has added to the government's difficulties." [46] The media is full of stories that jack is willing to take on the insurrectionists, “Jack straw last night vowed to take tough action against picket line thugs in future petrol protests. He made the pledge after union leaders claimed that tanker drivers had been intimidated during the recent fuel blockade.” [47]

Bbc gives space to an Insane Optimist that there isn’t going to be an Bse-cjd Disaster.

The pharmer-loving bbc loves nothing better than giving precious media coverage to journalists, hacks, academics, media pundits, and other intellectual prostitutes who love sucking off the pharming industry. It reports that there are reasons for believing the worst of the bse slaughter is over so people can go back to eating bseef, “It is possible that the steadily increasing numbers of vCJD cases could be due in part to increased awareness and accuracy of diagnosis. Scientists now believe that it is harder than previously thought to catch the illness simply by eating infected meat. Many scientists now believe that the prions which are thought to cause spongiform infections are not quite as infectious as they had previously feared.” [48]

October 21st 2000: Bse infected Vaccines?

“Thousands of doses of polio vaccine were recalled yesterday amid fears over mad cow disease. Medeva was one of two suppliers producing the vaccine .. The other, smithkline beecham, said it could make enough to vaccinate everyone who needed it. Medeva had manufactured the vaccine for 10 years producing about 11 million doses.” [49]

October 22nd 2000: The Day’s Events.

Bse Crisis in France erupts after Pharmer found selling Bse.

The bse crisis in france finally erupts after the public discovers a french pharmer has sold bse infected Animals to a supermarket. According to dealler’s report on a sunday times article, “France's Carrefour supermarket chain last night removed French beef from its shelves over fears that it may have been contaminated with bse. The French agriculture ministry said that a tonne of beef from a contaminated herd had been sold to the store group.[50] What is amazing here is that whilst the public are outraged about the spread of bse they are not outraged about the pharmers spreading the disease. If french people had followed the dispute in brutland they would have known that pharmers often played murderous tricks like this because they refused to accept that bse was a threat to ooman health - even after people started dying of the disease.

In the past, this discovery might have angered the french public but would probably have been forgotten about but, in the context of the french government’s bse test results showing there has been an increase in bse, the public has realized not so much that there are many more Cattle infected with the disease than they had previously thought but, much more critically, that the government can’t protect them from pharmers playing murderous tricks on them.

There are those who say the french government’s openness about its bse results is a perfect example of the crises that are likely to occur as a result of open government. The fact is however that if the tests on french Cattle had been carried out years’ earlier there would not have been such a huge build up of suspicions and anxieties amongst the public and action could have been taken earlier to stop the disease from spreading. In other words, open government could have limited the bse epidemic. If the government had not carried out the tests, the disease would have gone on spreading until the entire livestock population was infected - as was the case in brutland. The bse crisis is a good example of the dangers of closed government i.e. government’s dominated by the landowning pharming aristocracy.

Although the french bse results were intended to increase public confidence about the safety of french bseef this became irrelevant when it was discovered the government couldn’t prevent pharmers from spreading the disease to the french public. To a large extent the bse tests were carried out to prevent pharmers from spreading the disease and although the tests succeeded in this particular case the public was worried that pharmers might be devious enough to get such Animals into the foodchain. But, of course, they don’t blame french pharmers for trying to break the law and contaminate hundreds of people with bse. As in bseland, the spread of bse is just an opportunity to provide pharmers with more subsidies.

The Spread of Brutland’s Suicidal Empire.

Brutland’s Suicidal Empire is spreading further and further around the world and it’s only a matter of time before all countries which have been practicing Animal cannibalism go the same way. This magazine has been highly critical of the vast numbers of brutish morons who continue to eat bseef but, not surprisingly, the behaviour of consumers in other countries seems to be just as bad. If anything their idiocy may be even worse given that they have been able to watch the fatalities in brutland over the last fifteen years.

The Run up to the Bse Inquiry: Rumours have it that Nick Phillips might be ‘Truthful’.

Dealler reports a sunday times article which suspects nick phillips’ report into the bse slaughter will be highly critical of many politicians, “The long awaited bse Inquiry report to be released in 4 days time names more than 30 civil servants and conservative ministers for a catalogue of failures that allowed bse to devastate British agriculture. The report is scathing about the quality and competence of many of those in the charge of the MAFF from the mid-1980s to 1996. Insiders have described it as the most powerful indictment of a ministry that they have ever seen.” [51] With the benefit of hindsight, something has clearly gone very wrong here.

Blair breaks his three year Vow of Silence over the Environment.

Blair breaks his three year ‘Vow of Silence’ over the environment, “In his first speech on the subject for three years ..” [52] Wasn’t the environment supposed to be at the heart of his government? The country’s premier Earth-rapist attacks greens for not listening to the devious bunch of liars in the labour government who have been pretending to save the environment whilst sacrificing it on every occasion when it interferes with the interests of big business, "Tony Blair will launch a thinly veiled attack on the green movement this week, accusing activists of sniping at the government from the sidelines and refusing to take part in a serious debate about improving the environment.” [53] It has to be asked why, after three years, is he now interested in the environment? It has been suggested that blair has always been far less interested in environmental issues than gordon brown, "Gordon brown came into office determined to be the green chancellor. In his first budget he put his money where his mouth was by raising from 5 to 6 per cent above the rate of inflation, the fuel duty escalator imposed by the previous government. Environmentalists .. have praised brown's green credentials, and relentlessly criticized blair for his lack of interest in environmental matters." [54] Blair has never visited or even mentioned urban areas since he got into power so it seems more than a coincidence that within a matter of days he has suddenly started talking about both issues.

October 23rd 2000: ‘Mirror highlights the Bse Issue’.

The mirror runs a series of articles on bse. Firstly, an article on the inside cover discusses nick phillips’s pending publication on bse, “Four top tories will this week be blamed for the mad cow disease fiasco.” [55] Secondly, a highly critical article on the bse disaster by alan watkins who is appalled by the bse epidemic and comes up with some of the basic criticisms, “A less popular figure (chief veterinary officer keith meldrum) in the laboratories and offices of the ministry of agriculture would be hard to imagine. His bullying arrogance was seen by millions on tv when he tried to storm out of an interview as questioning got too hot for comfort. (Watkins believes the maffia lied incessantly). “Why do you think they are currently testing milk? Just for fun? No .. just in case mad cow disease can be transmitted in your daily pinta. But in the meantime, carry on drinking it. Who knows?” [56] But watkins concludes in optimistic vein, “The long awaited report into how politicians and civil servants lied and deceived consumers over mad cow disease will be the most damning public inquiry this country has ever seen.” [57] Finally, a comment in voice of the mirror. “When the mirror revealed that mad cow disease could be transmitted to humans we said it was the worst scandal to hit the country for many years. Ministers whose behaviour is not just incompetent but reckless are guilty of the most serious breach of public duty. What they did was to cost the country billions and lead to the deaths of almost 80 people. There must surely be some action that can be taken against those who act with such disregard for human life.” [58]

October 25th 2000: The Day’s Events.

Blair acting like john gummer feeding a burger to his five year old daughter.

“Tony blair yesterday launched a massive green crusade for britain - and said his son euan was his inspiration. He said youngsters all wanted a greener society and 16 year old euan had been “remarkably well informed” on the subject from an early age. Mr blair told of his shame that england and wales recycle only 9% of their paper, glass and cans while holland manages to recycle 45% and america 32%. He kick started his crusade by promising £50 million of lottery cash to provide kerbside waste recycling for 700,000 homes. He pledged a similar sum for developing cleaner fuels and a further £50 million to boost alternative energy sources like offshore wind plants.” [59] Politically, these initiatives can be read in two ways. Firstly, as a message that the government is going to hit the fuel protestors hard or, alternatively, that the government is stitching up a massive reward for rural terrorists and wants to cover its back by saying something nice and irrelevant about green politics.

Bse is a Disease which Needs Gsce’s to become Infectious.

“But French cautiousness has turned to alarm. Bse cases in France are now more than double what they were last year. Cattle over the age of 30 months have been banned for human consumption in Britain since 1996. The 30-month date is a key one because it is thought to be several months before any animal could physically develop or pass on the disease, even if were infected. ” [60] This is scientific nonsense. Bse is a disease which the brutish refuse to call a disease. Perhaps it needs some rites de passage before it grows into an adult prion capable of leaving home and setting up shop in another body? Does bse need gsce’s before becoming infectious?

The Value of the Ecu Falls to Lowest Ever Level

A further fall in the value of the ecu gives a second major boost to the pharmers’ fuel tax protests. The g8, the group of eight wealthy nations, decides to stop buying the ecu to maintain its value. The consequent fall in value will further increase pharmers’ costs for exporting bseef and decrease the costs of imported bseef. This is likely to be more financially damaging to pharmers that petrol price rises.

Motorists could be Rolling in Everything but Petrol - they’re so greedy they’re ruining their Gross Indulgences.

Stephen glaister argues that motorists have never had it so good despite the rise in petrol .. "the vast majority of people can easily afford petrol even now because the cost of motoring in general has remained static while real incomes have soared. Motoring is 30% cheaper in real terms than it was in 1964  .. To put the motoring myth into perspective, consider the fate of those poor souls who do not own a car. Over the past two decades, as car mobility has almost doubled, bus services have dwindled, local shops closed, and our streets have become dangerous to use, whether on foot or by bicycle. As motoring costs have remained static, bus fares have risen by roughly 70%. Even this month, despite the high petrol prices, the retail index showed that bus fares had increased by more than overall motorising costs. Even in rural areas, the poorest drivers do low mileage, and the countryside lobby usually fails to mention the huge advantages its members enjoy over their city cousins in the low cost of insurance, parking and maintenance." [61] This article clearly indicates the scale to which the labour government is funding pharmers and rural areas at the expense of those living on the country’s large housing estates which are badly in need of major renovations.

Channel 4 News on a Bse-Cjd Victim

Channel four news carries an article about helen jeffries whose 12 year old daughter is currently dying of bse-cjd. Her daughter was alright one night and ill the next day. She proceeded to cry for two weeks and then started screaming for days on end. She like so many others complains bitterly about being misled by the government, and about the appalling neglect of her daughter by the medical authorities, and makes the rather bizarre analogy that if her daughter was a Cow and she was a farmer then she would have been taken care of.

Bse Crisis in France is still erupting.

The scandal over the pharmer selling bse infected Animals to a supermarket continues, “Three retail chains earlier this week alerted customers that they had unknowingly sold beef from the same BSE-tainted herd. The revelations triggered a new bse food scare and forced the government to consider taking more precautions against the spread of the disease, such as banning the practice of feeding animal products to other animals. Currently, France only bans the use of such products in cattle feed. French President Jacques Chirac on Wednesday added his voice to calls for such a ban and also demanded a more systematic programme of testing cattle for bse.” [62]

France Prevented from taking Action against Bseef by the World Terrorist Organization.

It seems the pharmer-loving world terrorist organization [63] would prevent the french government from banning cannibalism in the french Animal enslavement industry, “French Farm Minister Jean Glavany said that France may ban meat and bone meal from all animal feed, although he warned his country might be forced to flout a key transatlantic farm deal by planting more oilseeds as a substitute. If such a ban were put in place, France would have to plant more oilseed crops such as soybeans, rapeseed and sunflowers to compensate for the loss of protein from meat and bone meal. But under the 1992 Blair House accord between the European Union and the United States, the European Union's oilseed area is limited to 4.9 million hectares. "The area which we are allowed to plant with oilseed crops is limited by international accords. But if one day we needed to ban animal fats, then we would reconsider the problem," Glavany told radio station RTL. The French oilseeds lobby slammed Glavany's suggestion as reckless and .. a spokesman for the EU farm commissioner said. "It is not possible to unravel a WTO (World Trade Organisation) deal merely to reflect internal policy changes in one country," he added. [64]
