I think we've arrived
Only I can't be so lucky
We're at those famous rocks
You know the ones
They're in your town, too
Only maybe it's a tree, or a clearing, or a...
You get the idea

I've never really experienced this place
You know, the way it should be experienced
With a teenage love

Alex pulls me in the direction away
From the lights

I know he's got something planned
Some 'Alex' plan... not some 'guy' plan
It's what makes him appealing
Or so I think
As we pass by the love graffiti on the rocks
Where the place got its rep

The moon's about half size and the stars
Can be seen
Oh, yes, stars
That sweet little boyfriend!
So I don't protest when he pulls me
To sit beside him on the ground
And puts his arm around me
And I lean into him

He's bigger than he looks
You know
And it all sorta fits
...me
...in his arms
...under the stars
...at the rocks

I wonder why every night can't be this way

"Look at that one"
He starts the stargazing
I can't remember the name so I smile and say
"Next to that cloud it looks like a light bulb"

"And I suppose those three clusters are the
Guys trying to change it"
Weak joke, but you had to have been there to
Really
Get it
So I laugh

And he lets his hand move up
To brush a strand of hair from my face
And song two of the last set comes to mind
"...how did that second song go again?"
His hand pauses on my forehead
I imagine he's blushing again
I'm not oblivious to subliminal messaging
I know what it was about

To save himself, though
He just hums it

But that's fine with me
