tree skirt This is the Christmas tree skirt we have used every year since we were married. Each Christmas I add a new motif to represent that year. Some years there are embroidered pieces, other years there have been quilted pictures, painted pictures, even small cloth dolls and bears. The first was the ric-rac and bead star. It was for the year we were married, 1980.
Greeting card with silk ribbon embroidery This is a greeting card using a picture that I transferred to fabric, then embroidered. Here's how I made the silk ribbon bow on the border of the card. First I tied a bow with very long streamers. Then I used a glue stick to lightly hold it in a few places. What's really holding it in place are French knots made with silk embroidery floss. I used silk threads for the Brazilian embroidery and silk ribbon for the iris.
3 handmade chatelaines I love chatelaines. There are great to wear to hold your sewing or tatting supplies. I use mine for carrying tatting. I put my embroidery scissors in one pocket, my shuttle and ball in another, and a copy of the pattern I'm working on in a third. The fourth pocket holds a pen and small note pad. The first chatelaine to the left was made from sewing patterned fabric, the next from old doilies, and the last from old hankies and bits of lace. They make great gifts for sewing friends!
