This wall hanging is mostly appliqué with plenty of Brazilian-style embroidery. I used all kinds of threads to do the embroidery. The flowers on the lattice are
made from silk ribbon that I dyed. It was made for a challenge my quilt guild had in 1997 and was chosen best by my fellow quilters. My local quilt guild is called
The Beaver Valley Piecemakers. |

This wall hanging is also mostly appliqué with folded flowers sewn on. I started this quilt with all intentions of
doing appliqué for the entire design, but after doing the basket and flowers I knew this wasn't for me. I got the idea for the flowers from Kumiko Sudo's book, Fabled Flowers. It inspired me to create my own folded shapes. |

I made this small wall hanging after taking a class my quilting guild sponsored. After finishing this one I knew that this is the style of quilting for me. It combines beautiful embroidery, laces, and freedom from
exact piecework and appliqué. The embroidery was made using DMC pearl cotton. I know traditional Brazilian embroidery is made with rayon threads but I tend to use all kinds of threads. |
| This is another quilt I made after taking a class through my local guild. It's all appliqué. I designed the border and the vines. |
