Bioluminescent Springtails light up Christchurch, New Zealand
Support Project GEO
Project GEO is a collaborative effort which seeks to learn about Anurida granaria, a species of Collembola discovered to exhibit bioluminescence by Graham East, of Christchurch, New Zealand.
The GEO project is presently over worked, under funded and is desperate need of support. Present needs include:
Wish List
Professional quality microscopes. The GEO Project needs a few professional quality microscopes. Donation of microscopes from individuals, schools or universities any where in the world will be accepted. Especially needed are stereo microscopes and standard optical microscopes.
Glassware. Especially needed are test tubes, Petri dishes, microscope slides, cover slips, concave slides, flasks, beakers, pipettes, funnels, and other laboratory glassware.
An analytical balance is also much needed.
Tissue stains and a microtome is needed so that paraffin mounts and sections can be made.
A centrifuge is needed.
A photoflourometer and spectrometer are needed. These may be of the type used by medical laboratories to do standard blood analysis work.
An electron microscope and/or scanning electron microscope is needed.
35mm cameras and camera attachments for microscopes. If you have any old, working 35mm cameras which have a cable release these would be most appreciated.
Any additional laboratory equipment that may be cluttering up your store room.
How to make a donation of equipment
If you are in the USA and have a microscope or other laboratory equipment that you are not using or do not need please contact Terry Lynch to make a donation.
If you are in New Zealand and have a microscope or other laboratory equipment that you can part with please contact Graham East. Thank you.
Lend your knowledge and expertise
If you are interested in the study of bioluminescence, the collection, study and rearing of bioluminescent species or have some expertise in these or related matters and would like to collaborate in future studies or share in correspondence with regard to Anurida granaria please contact Terry Lynch in the USA and Graham East in New Zealand.
Also, if you like this site or have some comments or suggestions please don't hesitate to let us know. All correspondence related to this website should be sent to Terry Lynch.
The Glow Buddy Emporium
Please click here to visit the Glow Buddy Emporium. The glow buddy has be adopted as a symbol of enlightenment and is being featured upon quality design items. All proceeds will be used to support this site and further related education and research with respect to bioluminescence. Thank you for your patronage.
