Simulation of bioluminescent Springtails glowing
To get an idea what bioluminescent Springtails look like when they glow turn off all room lights. Then take a 6-12 inch cardboard tube from a roll of toilet paper or paper towels and hold it close to the screen over the image below to obscure all other light from the monitor. Then blink your eye leaving it open only a fraction of a second. This gives you a pretty good idea what it would actually look like to see Springtails glow.
In actuality glowing appears as a bright flash which diminishes after a fraction of a second after specimens are disturbed. Because bioluminescence of Springtails must be observed in absolute darkness, this simulation leaves much to be desired. However it serves to give you some idea of what you would see if you could see Springtails glow.
