Scholarship Awards -
Spring 2009
The Associated Music Teachers League is pleased
to announce the Scholarship Awards Auditions for 2009.
Co-Chairs are Florence Hechtel-Graziose and Anthony Newton. The auditions
will be held at Steinway Hall, 109 West 57th Street, New York, New York
on Sunday, March 29, 2009.
The Scholarship Award Finals will be Saturday, April 25, 2009at 6:30pmSteinway Hall, 109 West 57th Street, New York City.
Award Winners will be determined by judges and presented at the ceremony
immediately following each final.
Please see below regarding submission of applicants
and other information. To complete an application you will need to refer
to the Reference Chart of the awards, prizes, and categories.
Information and Regulations:
Instructors may enter up to TWO students in each
section of this event. Previous 1st place winners are not eligible for
the same division but may be entered in another division when appropriate
to their school grade.
All compositions must be memorized. Applicants must bring to the audition
a music score of each of their audition pieces for use by the judges.
No unlawful copies are permitted. For use of out of print or unpublished
compositions written permission from the publisher or composer must be
brought to the auditions.
Application Procedure:
1. Complete and print out application form. Parents
and teachers please sign on the bottom. All materials must be postmarked
no later than March 2, 2009.
Bear in mind that audition spaces are filled in the order applications,
checks, and materials are received. Applications and fees received after
the schedule is filled will be returned. Retain a copy of the application
for your records.
2. All applications are to be completed
by the teacher. Individual instructors are responsible for the
accuracy of all information submitted.
For voice applications: Literal translations (idiomatic English) for the
foreign language repertoire must be written clearly or typed and attached
to the application.
3. It is to the advantage of the String and Voice
Applicants to provide their own accompanist. Indicate on the application
form if they are providing their own accompanist on the day of the audition,
or if they are using an accompanist provided courtesy of the AMTL. For
those using the accompanist provided by the AMTL there may be an opportunity
for a brief rehearsal on the day of the audition. Winners using the AMTL
accompanist for the winner's concert will arrange any extra rehearsals
with the accompanist, privately.
4. Application fee: $25 for members in good standing.
Non-members, in addition, must pay a $15 Teacher Fee for each student
entering in the form of their ownseparate personal check (not a student
expense). Accompanist fee (if applicable) $15 per entry. Checks should
be made out to: Associated Music Teachers League, Inc.
5. Mail photocopy of the accompaniment for AMTL
accompanist (if applicable).
6. Mailing must include the following number of
stamped, self-addressed, legal size (4 1/2' x 9 1/2') envelopes per entry.

One (1) addressed to the student
EACH APPLICATION MUST INCLUDE ALL OF THE ABOVE TO BE
CONSIDERED COMPLETE.
ONLY COMPLETED APPLICATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED.
