Christopher and Nicole (11/5/2000)

11/01/2000, Wednesday - British Accent.
(age: 3 years, 11 months, 14 days)
Christopher continues his love of trains and Thomas the Tank Engine. He watches many of the videos and as a result has developed a bit of a British accent as well as a British vocabulary. Tonight I was taking Nicole to Awanas club after dark when Christopher said, "I like to set off in the night in the car." To me, that sounds British. Here in America we don't usually say "set off".

11/02/2000, Thursday - Voting Young.
(age: 3 years, 11 months, 15 days)
Tina and I voted early in the presidential election. This year our voting booths had a flat computer touch screen and we took a Nintendo like catridge, put it in the booth and made our selections on the screen. Tina let Christopher plug the cartridge in (we now know that was a mistake). Tina was almost finished voting when Christopher, out of the blue, reached up and punched the big red "Vote" button. Tina was in shock and believe me, Christopher new he had done something really wrong. It turned out he hadn't pushed it hard enough and Tina was able to finish her voting just fine. But it was a shock. It reminds me of the time I pulled the fire alarm at the high school my Dad taught at. I was in Kindergarten and all I could read was "Pull". So I did.

11/03/2000, Friday - No Room in The Stomach.
(age: 3 years, 11 months, 16 days)
Christopher said something tonight that really sounds like a three-year-old (almost 4). At supper we've been making him eat his veggies before the main course because he's been having trouble eating them. Tonight we had pizza and he said, "I don't have room for carrots but I have room for pizza."

11/08/2000, Wednesday - Minty Fresh.
(age: 3 years, 11 months, 19 days)
Christopher now likes Mom and Dad's minty tooth paste. Nicole hates mint, so we've been giving the kids the bubble gum type flavored kid's tooth pastes. After brush he now comes to us and says, "Smell my teeth!".

11/11/2000, Saturday - Birthday Party.
(age: 3 years, 11 months, 22 days)
Today was Christopher's fourth birthday party. We held it today so that next weekend could be the "rain date" if needed. As it was, the weather was cloudy and cool, but no rain. We had a Buzz Lightyear party with a rocket ship blow up jumping thing (sometimes called a moon walk). We had fun, but there is a lot more to tell and lots of photos. So please visit

11/20/2000, Monday - Happy Birthday!.
(age: 4 years old!!!!!)
Since we already had Christopher's birthday party and presents, we didn't do anything exciting today. We did however put candles on the left over cake and sang happy birthday. It was really nice, relaxed and family style. Christopher smiled really wide while we sang. It was nice. At the party, things are so hectic that sometimes it's hard to enjoy the moment.

11/22/2000, Wednesday - Computer Game Addiction.
(age: 4 years, 0 months, 2 days)
Christopher is now addicted to his Buzz Lightyear action game on the computer. We have to limit his play time. I'm amazed at how well he can control the game; jumping, spinning, stomping. I downloaded a demo of the Disney Tarzan action game. Both Christopher and Nicole love it. Nicole keeps asking "can we buy the 'real' one?"
