10/06/2000, Friday - Talkative Christopher. Tired Boy. Buzz Speaks. Made My Day.
(age: 3 years, 10 months, 17 days)
Christopher is really growing up. If he doesn't have to compete with his sister, he's actually quite talkative.
As you might expect, if you ask him about trains he'll tell you many long stories. I took him to one of Nicole's
soccer practices and played with him on the swings. A girl a little younger than Christopher also attends the practice
and Christopher couldn't wait to tell her about the new Thomas video he had seen. That little girl had other interests
she wanted to share instead. And the two of them talked at the same time for about 15 minutes. It was hillareous.
Both of them came away happy, so I guess they shared what they wished.
About a week ago we went to one of our favorite restaurants. Christopher was so tired that he slept with his head
on the table through the whole meal. It was really cute.
Christopher really likes Buzz Lightyear now. He has several of the toys. The other day, he flew one of his toy
Buzz'es in from the backyard, up to Tina and said in Buzz'es voice, "Christopher needs to go potty".
Last night I was leaving the house to pick Nicole up from practice. Christopher yelled out as I opened the door,
"Remember Daddy. I love you!" That made my whole week.
10/09/2000, Monday - Funny Saying. Dead Rat.
(age: 3 years, 10 months, 20 days)
Yesterday Christopher was in Mom and Dad's bedroom when I heard him say "Hey, here's
an ear pick!" He had found a Q-Tip laying on the counter.
Today Christopher went over to Jeffrie's house. There happened to be a dead rat in their driveway that Christopher
was very interested in. When I came home from work he met me at the door, all excited, and said, "There
was a dead rat in the street at Jeffrie's with his head cut off!" Nicole, on the other hand, was
totally grossed out.
10/13/2000, Friday - School Friends.
(age: 3 years, 10 months, 24 days)
We were talking about school friends at the dinner table. Christopher told us that he "loves"
Christianna. It was so cute the way he said it. He really does like his school friends. It's fun to see.
10/16/2000, Monday - Growing Tall.
(age: 3 years, 10 months, 27 days)
I haven't officially measured him, but it looks like Christopher has grown about two inches this summer.
I was noticing the other day that he seemed to be stooping a little more over his train table. He had also been
complaining some of leg aches. Yesterday I finally backed him up against the wall where his measurements are and
saw that he's grown quite a bit.
10/25/2000, Wednesday - The Snake. Brushing Technique. Playing Buzz.
(age: 3 years, 11 months, 5 days)
Nicole and Christopher both found a snake in our kitchen last night. It's a little garden snake about
6 or 8 inches long and thinner than a pencil. The kids were amazingly calm about it. Christopher just came up to
us, pretty excited, and told us they found it. We caught it and put it in a plastic ice cream bucket. Nicole wanted
to take it to school today to show it, but we decided the public grade school might not appreciate that. Instead,
Chistopher will take it to his preschool (Nicole took a snake to preschool a few years ago).
For the last couple of weeks, Christopher has shown me a technique for brushing the sides of his teeth.
Usually he squeezes his cheeks in so it's difficult to get the sides. Te technique really helps. I just assumed
the Tina taught him how to do that. I talke to Tina a couple nights ago and she said he came up with that all on
his own. I'm amazed.
Christopher loves to play Buzz Lightyear. And since Buzz fights evil he of course has me play the evil Emporer
Zurg. He know thinks that Zurg is my favorite so when he sees a Zurg doll he says I should get it "because
he's your favorite". Christopher has a Buzz Lightyear costume for halloween and we plan to have a Buzz
Lightyear birthday party for him next month.

Christopher's volcano on Father's Night
10/31/2000, Tuesday - Loves Nicole. Father's Night. Toy Story Game.
(age: 3 years, 11 months, 11 days)
Christopher can really be a sweety. Last week when he and Mom were dropping Nicole off at school,
Christopher looks at Mom and says, "I really, really love Nicole. I really do."
Last Thursday was Father's Night at Christopher school. I always love going. They have lots of activities, games,
snacks, etc. Christopher's favorite activity was the station his teach was running. There they got to make their
own "volcano" using colored vinegar/water and baking soda. He thought that was great.
The kids also make a drawing of their dad and answer some questions about him. Here's what Christopher said:
My Dad's name is Doug .
He is 5 years old.
His favorite color is green .
His favorite food is broccoli and flour. (I think he said Broccoflower and they misunderstood)
My dad likes to play with me.
My favorite thing to do with my dad is play trains.
When my dad goes to work, he works on the computer.
He didn't do too bad a job! I guess when we play together I seem like I'm five.
Christopher has fallen in love with his Toy Story 2 arcade game on the computer. I just got a new video board
with 3D hardware that makes the game much more fun to play. Now all he can do is talk about how we got on this
shelf, picked up this coin, found Mr. Potato Head's ear here, and on and on. He's really cute talking about it
but Mom (ane me too) has clamped down his play time to avoid him getting too obsessed.
