07/03/2000, Monday - Talking to Toes. Swimming Great. God vs. Magic.
(age: 3 years, 7 months, 14 days)
Christopher telling stories on the bed (7/8/2000)
Tina badly sprained her ankle last Friday. It swelled up immediately. The x-ray showed it wasn't broken and she is doing much better today. She's walking around more and isn't wearing the brace.

The kids were both very sweet to Tina. Nicole prayed for her after the accident. Christopher brought his pillow to her on the couch to put under her foot. But the most interesting sight was when Christopher went up to her toes, sticking out from the brace, and said, "It's okay little toes. It's okay big toe. Everything will be all right."

Some friends of ours had a pool party on Saturday where I got to see some of the new skills Nicole and Christopher are learning. Nicole is all over the pool with no trouble. She showed me how she's now learning the crawl stroke. It's looking pretty good. Christopher spent his whole time swimming to me from the steps, then swimming back to the steps. I think he could do it forever and love every minute of it. He's very proud of being able to put his face in the water and open his eyes.

Some days before the pool party, Tina noticed Christopher doing some kind of what he called magic over the pool before jumping in. Where he got that we haven't a clue. Tina told him he should instead pray to God. So now, every-so-often, he'll fold his hands and say "Dear God, please help me." before jumping in the pool. Very cute.

07/18/2000, Tuesday - Thomas Movie. Love Note.
(age: 3 years, 7 months, 29 days)
Christopher at sand pits in Bridgeport (7/31/2000)
Christopher is extremely excited about the new Thomas the Tank Engine feature film coming out in a couple of weeks. We are able to see a pre-release showing next Saturday because we won four tickets to the movie from a local train store. You can't imagine how much Christopher loves his trains. When we come home from somewhere, he literally runs to his room the minute we step in the door to start playing on his train table.

Last night Christopher wrote me a note (wavy lines). He gave it to me. He tells me it says "I love you Daddy. I miss you when you're at work." Very sweet. I asked him if I could take it to work with me. He said yes, but that he had to do some more drawing on it. He took it to the table and asked Mommy how to spell "cube". Hmmm. She told him how and he worked very hard writing the letters. I'm proud of him for trying so hard. I don't know if we'll ever find out why he wanted to spell cube.

07/28/2000, Friday - Thomas Movie. God Blesses.
(age: 3 years, 8 months, 8 days)
Last weekend we went to see a pre-release showing of "Thomas and the Magic Railroad", starring Christopher's favorite Thomas the Tank Engine characters. We won the tickets from a local train store and we had a really good time. The kids really loved the movie. We got there early and they had train tables set up in the lobby that the kids played on while waiting. It was really a nice affair.

Each night when we say prayers with the kids they pray their "God Blesses" where they ask God to bless friends and family. Christopher now knows his and Nicole's full names so he likes to say them. The other night he was praying and said, "... and Christopher Michael Davis. That's me!" I wish you could hear it. So cute. He was praying with Tina this last week and forgot to mention Grandma and Granddad, ending with his friend Callahan. Tina reminded him, he thought about it and this is how he handled it, "umm... umm... Erase Callahan. Grandma and Granddad and Callahan, amen." Does he think God is writing this down <grin>?
