| 08/11/2000, Friday - Nebraska Trip. (age: 3 years, 8 months, 22 days)  We just got back from a trip to visit Grandma and Granddad in Nebraska. We celebrated their 40th
wedding anniversary and got to see lots of family from all over. Nicole and Christopher enjoyed seeing their cousins.
Christopher was often times the odd man out. He's the only boy of his generation on my side of the family and sometimes
the girls shun him. But things change each time we get the cousins together. At Christopher's age they're still
pretty immature and learning to share and play together. Each time they are together, they play better than before.08/18/2000, Friday - Only Child. (age: 3 years, 8 months, 29 days) Nicole is off to first grade, so Christopher is enjoying being an only child during the day. He and Mom have been playing games and doing things together. Also, the kids seem to enjoy playing together when Nicole comes home from school. Absense makes the heart grow fonder.  Still working on his potty training (#2 only now). He may lose his train table this weekend if he keeps
ignoring his need to go. He loses all time at that table and won't take time away from it. Pretty agrivating right
now. Will be researching other strategies.08/25/2000, Friday - Summer Ending. (age: 3 years, 9 months, 5 days) Christopher's summer is about to end. He starts pre-school Monday. We had a "meet the teacher" meeting last Monday. His teacher seems very nice. I can't wait to see how much he'll learn this year. 08/29/2000, Tuesday - School Starts. Trains. Toll Hallway. (age: 3 years, 9 months, 9 days) Christopher started school yesterday. Seems to like it. He's growing up more every day. It's fun to listen to him speak. Many times he over-enunciates words, especially if he thinks you're not listening. He still loves his trains. He's working to earn a new train car. If he stays clean and dry for a whole week he'll be rewarded. He almost made it last week, but on the last day he had an accident. It has been a great incentive to try, so we're very happy. Yesterday I came home and there was train track and cars ALL over the livingroom. Tina told me to look in his room and I'd see why. Tina had painted the top of his train table with grass, trees, rivers and lakes. It looks very nice. The other day I headed down the hall when Christopher stopped me, holding out his hands. I thought maybe it was a stop light or train signal so I waited for the "light to change". It didn't, so I made some train sounds, etc. Then Christopher informed me that I needed to hug and kiss him and he'd let me through. That was FINE with me. I hope he does that more! 08/31/2000, Thursday - Enjoying School. (age: 3 years, 9 months, 11 days) Christopher is having a great time in school. He goes on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. On Wednesday he has extended day where he stays for lunch. When Tina went to pick him up yesterday he had been playing hard outside. He was dirty and extremely happy. he told her there were "no mean boys on the playground." and that all the kids got up on the high platform so there were no kids on the ground. He thought that was great. |
