04/04/2000, Tuesday - Potty Reward.
(age: 3 years, 4
months, 15 days)
Christopher did very well last week on the potty. We had an incentive to reward him that he was working
towards. He received his reward. A talking Woody doll with a real pull string just like in the Toy Story movie.
He's very happy. And so are we.
04/12/2000, Wednesday - Thunder & Daddy. Painting cookies.
(age: 3 years, 4 months, 23 days)
See Nicole's journal for a great story about Christopher
and a butterfly.
When Christopher's hungry and tired he doesn't want Daddy to help him. That's the state he's in when I get home
from work each day. Nicole went through this stage when she was about his age also. After supper, things greatly
improve. Last night some thunderstorms rolled through. Christopher really likes his Daddy when there are thunderstorms.
It was very nice comforting him during the storm. He really is a sweety.
Last night Tina made sugar cookies and some egg yolk paints. Before cooking we all painted the cookies which were
shaped like chicks, crosses and Easter eggs. It was as much fun as dying Easter eggs. The kids were really creative.
Christopher did a great job on his cookies.
Christopher has also learned the single hand sign for "I love you" (making the letters I, L & Y at
the same time). He really likes to use it, which is fun.

Friday - Great Quote
(age: 3 years, 4 months, 25 days)
Christopher said this a month or two ago. I just forgot to put it on the web page. I think it's really funny.
One of his favorite characters is Buzz Lightyear from the Toy Story movies. One day, while pretending to be Buzz,
he used a line from the movie with a bit of a twist. He said,
"I'm Buzz Lightyear. I come in pieces."
Buzz actually says, "I come in peace."
Christopher loves taking things apart and figuring out how things work. The other day he got impatient waiting
for us to replace the batteries in one of their Furbies. So he found a screwdriver and attempted to open the Furby
himself. See the photo.
04/17/2000, Monday - School Report
(age: 3 years, 4 months, 28 days)
We got Christopher's school report last week. Every single item had a 'Yes' checked on it, which is very
good. You can view the report by clicking here. His teacher made some
nice comments about him too.
04/18/2000, Tuesday - Stinky Bugs
(age: 3 years, 4 months, 29 days)
Christopher's teacher tells us that he has led the other children into a favorite playground activity. The
look for bugs. Specifically, they want to find lady bugs. Those are "good bugs". If they find a different
type of bug, those are "stinky bugs" and it sounds like they squish those. Christopher also likes rolli-pollies,
so I'm sure he doesn't squish those.
Christopher is becoming more interested in the monkey bars because his sister is really interested in them.
Last night he wanted me to help him. He doesn't know how to do them very well, so he lets go with both hands rather
than just one. Nicole very nicely told him to let go with just one and then reach with the other. I then thought
I'd teach him what happens when he lets go by dropping him gently to the ground. Well, he thought that was great
fun and now lets go with both hands all the time just because it's fun to drop.
04/26/2000, Wednesday - Easter Fun, Old Lady
Quote
(age: 3 years, 5 months, 6 days)
Last weekend was Easter. This year was really fun because Christopher was old enough to really enjoy the
activities. We had two Easter egg hunts. The first one was for our neighborhood. Tina and other stuffed 500 plastic
eggs. We blocked off two blocks of our neighborhood and hid the eggs in all the front yards. Both Christopher and
Nicole really came back with a lot of eggs. I think there were only about 20 or 30 neighborhood kids there. Along
with candy, some eggs had golden coins that could be redeemed for prizes. It was fun.
Saturday night we decided to go out for pizza. While there a lady, who looked to be college age, began
making balloon animals (for tips). We had give the kids each a quarter to put in one of the game machines, but
Christopher wanted to use his for a balloon. He had her make a blue cat, which he loves. On Sunday he was playing
with the cat when he told me,
"This old lady blew me up a cat!"
That's the first time I've heard him refer to a persons age. It was hard to keep from laughing.
Sunday after church we had our family Easter egg hunt. I think Tina had another 500 stuffed eggs for this event.
The kids' baskets were overflowing. We have Christopher get the blue eggs and Nicole get the yellow eggs. The other
colors are up for grabs. This way each child gets a good number of eggs and we can stuff specific prizes in the
child specific eggs. This year Tina also hid notes in some of the eggs that told them where to find a prize inside
the house. She had some stuffed animals and other things that she hid. Nicole could read all the notes very easily.
That is when she didn't have trouble with Tina's handwriting. It was a fun Easter.
