Monday, April 12, 2004 3:04:21 AM Yesterday was Easter, a rare Easter that coincided in both the Catholic and the Orthodox calendars. I went to the East Bay Church of Religious Science for the celebration, and I heard once again a mystical interpretation of the Easter story as it related to my personal life and power. Rev. Elouise Oliver was raised in a Pentecostal environment, and she related this New Thought philosophy to Christianity very effectively, with compelling references from both the Holy Bible and The Science of Mind. By the way, the music was superb. How interesting it is, that as the amount of information available increases, the need to discern and compare increases also. The Catholic Online Saints indicates that Emperor Constantine, a.k.a. St. Constantine the Great, "was baptised a Christian only on his deathbed." This failed to explain to me why he had established the Christian faith as a Roman state religion, or why he used the Chi Rho symbol as his military standard. I turn, as usual, to one of the most extensive references on the Web, the Encyclopedia Britannica, which states that Constantine the Great converted to Christianity in 321 A.D., which is the date of the Battle of the Milvian Bridge. Constantine claimed he converted to the Christian God through a revelation that came in a dream, and that he fought the Battle of the Milvian Bridge under the Chi Rho symbol. His triumphal arch declares his victory by virtue of the "Inspiration of the Divinity." [1] I find that the history of the Christian Church is rife with intolerance, excommunication, and heresy. Heresy, I find, is just one's rejection of another's point-of-view, and as it is such, we are all heretics. I take comfort that Martin E. Marty writes, in the Encyclopedia Britannica, that a phenomenological historian, faced with all the controversies over the nature and beliefs of Christianity, will accept at face value any person's claim that he or she is a Christian. [2] Now I can accept Ernest Holmes' claim that Science of Mind is a Christian discipline. He said it is, and so it is. For the various churches fought, one philosophy against another, for dominance and orthodoxy, and most of all against syncretism. Yet it has only been through syncretism, dialogue, and forgiveness that the Christian churches survived at all. So the New Thought embracing of elements of Gnosticism and Neo-Platonism does not negate its essential Christianity, and it seems that the Living God is still appearing in revelation to Man on Earth. I find it interesting that Fundamentalism, Mormonism, and New Thought are all movements established in America in the 19th Century. "We believe in the direct revelation of Truth through our intuitive and spiritual nature, and that anyone may become a revealer of Truth who lives in close contact with the Indwelling God." -- Ernest Holmes, Declaration of Principles [1] "Constantine I." Wednesday, April 07, 2004 5:48:02 PM Today I filled out an application at BrassRing. What can I say, but it's good that I hunt for jobs occasionally, so I can update my job-hunting advice. The database engine for BrassRing is painfully slow; building a resume online takes hours. A search for jobs opened in 2004 in California turned up nothing. Nothing. I'm taking Brass Ring off my list. There are other agencies in California that have current business. Tomorrow I will explore another agency. Funny, it's already tomorrow in Tokyo. Stocks are trading somewhere. We think tomorrow never comes, but on a global scale, tomorrow is already here. Caution, dates in calendar are closer than they appear.

Tuesday, April 06, 2004 9:14:00 AM The time between contracts is not just a time of publishing resumes, interviewing, and catching up on personal business. It is also a time of reflection. I have been out of contract. One account manager asked me what was my gut feeling about my current situation. It took me by surprise; here was a sales person asking me about my intuition. Letting myself come to center, I felt that I would probably wind up back at my last position, after this brief hiatus. The hiatus, and my taking it as a genuine end-of-contract event, has led me to discover that I am no longer paid above-market rates; the market has risen to meet me. I also feel that the Universe is giving me an opportunity to contribute in new and more prosperous ways. A second insight came to me as Margaret counted her income streams yesterday. I thought about my own, and I have discovered that I also have multiple income streams. This is a time to open my mind to new possibilities, to decide that what I already know is a historical experience and does not govern what happens today. On this day in 1830, Joseph Smith founded the Mormon church. The Mormons are some of the largest Christian denominations in North America; perhaps it is time to pay some attention to their philosophy. Everywhere I turn I meet Mormons today, and they are very successful people.

God is love and that love expresses through me as service to others. There is perfect employment for me where I can let God's love express through me. God is abundance and this abundance is my supply. As I serve life, life rewards me generously. I trust God to meet my every need. Infinite intelligence expresses through me as guidance. Turning within, I am guided to do the right thing at the right time in the right way. My perfect employment is seeking me now. My desire to work is my prayer answered. As I take the human footsteps which are presented to me as ideas from within, I become unified with my perfect employment. In the One Mind I am one with my new employer and my perfect position right now. All anxiety is removed from this situation for I trust God to provide the perfect way to express His perfect life through me. I give thanks for the abundance that is mine.
And so it is.
