Nobody asked you or informed you. Yet, mutant soya, for example, replaced natural soya and exists in hundreds of products of your daily nutrition. Chocolates, cakes, bread, ice-cream, kid-nourishment and anything else you can possibly imagine. Are we going to accept the danger that these experiments hold for our health and for nature's balance? Genetically mutant products are not better, more nutritious, tasty or cheaper than natural ones. They are just more resistant to chemical weed killers that "coincidentally" the exact same companies produce! What do we want from the goverment: 1) Stop all imports of mutant products, 2) Stop every experiment in that direction, 3) Obligatory marking on any products' ingredients stating whether they are natural or not The danger we are facing These genetically mutant products: Encourage the chemical agriculture and the increasing use of pesticides Undermine the attempts for natural agriculture Constitute, trough nutrition, a constant origin of new diseases and allergies Create the conditions for growth of "strong" bacteriums that could be carriers of any kind of disease The accidental release of mutant organisms will be a constant threat for our natural environment and maybe life itself as we know it To avoid being guinea pigs: ask from the food-companies not to use mutant products (and to declare it on their packages) demand your right to choose. Ask from your super-market to mark every mutant product they have on their shelves write, call, send fax of complaints to the food-companies, local politicians, consumer organizations or whoever you think would be interested in public health matters 2) Innocent! NIKH! VICTORY! VICTORIA! SEGER! VICTORIE! SIEG! VITTORIA! SEJR! ZAFER! Motor-oil, the happy end: the court declared that all who took part at the take-over of the oil platforms on the 8th of November 1996 are innocent. The 17 members of the Greenpeace office and crew members of their ship "Arctic Sunrise", according to the procecutor "did not commit any crime, since the case that the accused were defending, and that is the right to clean sea & air and a better way of life, are principles far superior to some company 's interests". The outcome is more than clear. Motor-oil lost the case and Greenpeace won another battle against oil, which will be very useful in the near future since the motives for the salvation of earth outweight the criminal law liability. And to quote one of the accused: "the actions to protect our natural environment are not legal or illegal, they are just necessary". 3) Energy from the Sun Greenpeace's historical ship "Serios" is currently traveling the mediterranean waters loaded with wind and photovoltaic generators in order to spread these technologies and the message of clean energy. Its first stop at Magiorka led to the creation of the 2nd mediterranean "solar-energy-school" (after the one at Creta). Their next stop at Athens was an overwhelming success: a new "solar-energy-school" at Nickaia and the minister's commitment for 50 similar schools during a period of two years. Furthermore, the goverment announced that a solar-energy plant will be built at Creta instead of the mineral-coal one that was earlier proposed. ... solar Greece? Well, only time will tell! Meanwhile, a miniature "solar-village" was build last week in front of the Greek ministry of development. The architects were 30 Greenpeace's activists, who made these 1000 symbolic miniatures to demand the immediate beginning of the new solar power plan. The target is 1000 houses in Greece to be founded by EC for installing photovoltaic generators on their rooftops, by the end of this year.
