Byron's arrival in what was formerly the FWLI, coupled with a severe amount of anti-American comments, quickly earned him animosity from the federation's patriotic contingent, including Eddie 'The Cruiser' Carpenter and the famous American Enforcer, which resulted in one of the most fiercely contested matches in Byron's history, rivaling even his match with Booster Dunne. After Battlecry, Byron became intent on increasing his stature in the FWLI, and has become involved in a number of feuds against wrestlers like the Z-Man Brian Zordich, 'Dirt Dog' Unique Allah and, most recently, the superstar known as Dan Kauffman, although the match between them never took place, and with the news of Kauffman's retirement, now the feud looks unlikely to be settled. After a run of victories in the FWLI house cards, Byron quickly ascended the rankings to enter contention for the FWLI Television Championship. Byron saw himself as the man to dethrone 'The Living Legend' Jean-Pierre Vachon, who has held the title since September 1995. However, their extensive war of words outside the ring was matched by a stalemate inside, with the time limit expiring just as Vachon looked to be on the verge of victory. Because of the uncertain conclusion, a rematch was sanctioned, only for it to end in a similar way, this time with Byron moments from applying the Aristoclutch as the bell rang. The rivalry between the two continued to build apace, and a final match was signed between the two, this time with no time limit. The match was billed as possibly one of the matches of the year, and after a long and hard fought battle which could have so easily gone either way, Byron pulled out the victory he had been chasing for so long. His celebrations, however, were short-lived, as he lost the title on his very first defense only a matter of days later to the arrogant Scott Rogers. No word of Byron has been heard since, and speculation continues to grow on his future in the IFWF...
