November 1861

 

Fri 1 - Rattie [Erastus Prichard] did not go home until noon. Hattie had lots of company. Chet, Hat, and Chub went over to Reed's. Had to stay all night.

 

Sat 2 - Come over from Reed's in the morning. Rained like thunder. Glad was I to get back. Went home with John [Prichard]. Am tired of visiting. Such weather.

 

Sun 3 - Staid to John [Prichard]'s until just at night. John took me back to Chet's. It has stormed all day.

 

Mon 4 - Hattie has been washing and I have been sewing for her. Rattie [Erastus Prichard] came up and staid all night. Had a sing.

 

Tues 5 - Hattie come and brought me down to Mr. Allen's. Went up to May's to a sewing party.

 

Wed 6 - Have been helping Mrs. Allen quilt. Cordelia [Cordelia Jane Tillotson Prichard?]and May come home so we have had a good visit. Am staying to May's.

 

Thur 7 - Went down to have my picture taken. In the afternoon went over to Mr. Tilden's. Had a house full of company.

 

Fri 8 - Went over to Mr. Hasten's in the morning. Rattie [Erastus Prichard] come down and spent the day. Staid to Henry's all night.

 

Sat 9 - Went over to see Hattie in the morning. Come up to George [Prichard]'s with Erastus. Hat come up and staid all night.

 

Sun 10 - Had my hair cut this morning. Feel completely bobbed. Hat and I come up to Chester's with George [Prichard]'s horse and buggy.

 

Mon 11 - Hat and I have been washing. Gracious how the wind blows. Must gain sleep. No more. Good night.

 

Tues 12 - Ironed some in the morning. Started for Garrettsville with Hattie about noon. Left the Berch's for Anna at 2 o'clock. Had a glorious good time. Danced all night.

 

Wed 13 - Came back to George [Prichard]'s this morning about seven o'clock from a spree. Went to bed after breakfast and slept until [his wife] Em[ily] called me after dinner. Went up to Hattie's and visited with Mr. & Mrs. Norton. Well done for Rattie [Erastus Prichard].

 

Thur 14 - Staid to Hattie's until noon then walked down to Mr. Wadsworth all alone. Went down to George [Prichard]'s. Mary Wells was there.

 

Fri 15 - Stormed so that I could not go back to Hattie's. Have been knitting on Cordia [Cordelia Prichard]'s hood. Saw John Beardsly.

 

Sat 16 - Stayed to Ems in the morning then Rattie brought me up to Hattie's. Took tea with them then went over to John [Prichard]'s.

 

Sun 17 - Stayed to John [Prichard]'s until after tea, the Rattie [Erastus Prichard] brought me back to Hattie's. I have got such a cold.

 

Mon 18 - Hattie has been washing and I have been fixing her some collars. Went over to Mr. Wells with Hattie.

 

Tues 19 - Sewing for Hattie in the afternoon. Hat and I went to Garretsville to trade some. Got me a worsted for a hood.

 

Wed 20 - Went with Hat to Mr. S.... to draw in a piece for her. Went after May Wells to sew for Hattie. Rattie called on his way to John [Prichard]'s.

 

Thur 21 - May and I have been sewing on a dress for Hat. Rattie [Erastus Prichard] come back just at night. Stayed all night -- has got a sore throat.

 

Fri 22 - Rattie [Erastus Prichard] left about noon. In the afternoon .... Mrs. Allen, Mrs. Tilden, the Miss Abbot's and Sarah Myers was here. Tired to death.

 

Sat 23 - May has finished her work. At noon been knitting on my hood. Hattie and I went and carried May? home. Golly how it snows.

 

Sun 24 - Have written two letters. Hattie has been to bed and asleep. Jason called a little while. Oh how I wish I could go to church.

 

Mon25 - Hattie has been washing and I have been sewing. Made bread for Hattie. It snows like fun. I am lonely tonight.

 

Tues 26 - Helped Hattie do up the work then Chester, Hattie, Mr. Prichard and Chub went over to Mr. Walton's to eat roast pig. Had a good time.

 

Wed 27 - Have been sewing on Hattie's dress. Wish I could be to Brunswick tomorrow. No more, goodnight.

 

Thur 28 - Today is Thanksgiving. Hattie has made a chicken pie, rice pudding and cake. Sarah called a little while. Rattie has gone to Parkman.

 

Fri 29 - Rattie called to Chet's on his way home. Eat breakfast then went to bed. Golly how he looked. Went down home with him. Spent the eve singing.

 

Sat 30 - George [Prichard] has butchered 3 hogs and I have been trying to help Em[ily]. Rattie has gone to see the girls. Good luck to him.
