February 1861

 

Fri 1 - Sewing on Dry's shirt. In the eve went down to singing school. It was dark as pitch when we came home.

 

Sat 2 - Tim was sick this forenoon so Chub had the housework to do. Attended singing school. Saw Miles [Tillotson] and [brother] Leonard.

 

Sun 3 - Went to Beebetown to church. Broke down in singing .... Uncle Dan [Tillotson] has been down to Geo Walkers. Len spent the eve with us.

 

Mon 4 - Tim and I have done a big washing. Had Aunt Fanny Lewis and Williard here to dinner. Oh mercy, how my teeth ache. Tired to death. Bern came up to see us.

 

Tues 5 - Ironing the coarse clothes. Went over to see May. In the eve went down to Smith's singing school.

 

Wed 6 - Sewing all day. May and Lewis spent the eve with us. 10 o'clock and they have just gone. Good night.

 

Thurs 7 - Today is Sherm's sale. Cold as Greenland. Lewis came up and brought me a letter from Lib. The sale is postponed.

 

Fri 8 - Sewing some and sitting by the fire trying to keep warm. Have been to the sing. Eth started to bring me home but broke down.

 

Sat 9 - Helping Tim. Uncle [Dan Tillotson] has been down to Uncle [Lucius] Warner's. Attended our last sing. House full. Mr. Linnan came home with us.

 

Sun 10 - Mr. Linnan staid so long we could not go to church. Just at night Dry, Tim and Chub went over to Uncle Leonard's. Mr. Smith was there.

 

Mon 11 - Tim and I have been washing. Stormed so we could not put out the clothes. Have got the tooth ache. Oh dear.

 

Tues 12 - Hung out the clothes. In the afternoon went over home. Ironed in the evening. Dry went to Smith's sing.

 

Wed 13 - Went over to Sherm's sale. Oh what awful going. His cows sold well, the rest for near nothing. Saw Alf coming over just to ...

 

Thurs 14 - Sewing on Put's shirt. Alfred came over in the evening. Had a good sing and a good visit. Good night.

 

Fri 15 - Sewing all day. Lib has been helping Cousin Libbie do the housework. Spent the eve singing.

 

Sat 16 - Did not get up until 9 o'clock. Consequently have not done much. Lib is raising ned. No more tonight.

 

Sun 17 - Been reading all day. So lonely. Looked for Alf but he did not come, darn him.

 

Mon 18 - Been washing and sewing some. Spent the eve singing. Heard a few remarks and c.?

 

Tues 19 -Ironing in the forenoon. In the afternoon Lib and Libbie and Chub went down to Mr. Meacher's.

 

Wed 20 - Sherm and Libbie came and brought us out to Uncle Leonard's. Staid there all night for the first time since May.

 

Thurs 21 - Come over to Uncle Dan [Tillotson]'s in the morning. Sherm's folks started for home at 2 o'clock. Went to the sing.

 

Fri 22 - Staid to Uncle Dan [Tillotson]'s until after dinner then came down to Jim [Heacock]'s to work a few days. Lib is staying with me.

 

Sat 23 - Baking, ironing, moping and cleaning. In the eve went up to Uncle Dan [Tillotson]'s. Staid to Nett's all night.

 

Sun 24 - Come back to Jim [Heacock]'s at noon. Found [Abigail] worse. Tim and Amelia called a little while. Alfred came up to spend the eve.

 

Mon 25 - Done a large wash. Tired almost to death. 8 o'clock. Good night.

 

Tues 26 - Ironing and baking. Jim [Heacock]has been to see the Doctor. [His daughter] Ab is not as well. [His wife] Amelia spent the afternoon here. I went down and staid all night with her.

 

Wed 27 - Baking bread and cake. Put came in this morning. Smith's school closed today.

 

Thurs 28 - Sewing this forenoon. This afternoon Ab [Agigail Heacock] has taken an emetic. Great times we have had. Tim and Dry called for me to go to the sing but I could not go.
