November 1858

Mon 1 - [at home] Have tried to clean the house a little. Moped, worked butter, baked and father and Mother have been down to see Uncle Zadock [Tillotson]. He is some better.

 

Tues 2 - [at home] It has rained like fun all day. Laid a bed all the forenoon with the toothache. Dry has been here. .... and Augustus are staying here tonight.

 

Wed 3 - [at home] Had a very large wash to do all alone. Went down to see Jennie at 2 o'clock. Jennie is staying with me all night.

 

Thurs 4 - [at home] Washed the wood work in the dining room and windows. Am almost tired to death. Expected Jennie but she has not come.

 

Fri 5 - [at home] Have been ironing all day. Mother has been spinning. Father husking corn. No more, good night.

 

Sat 6 - [at home] Moped, churned, baked, mended my dress and the dickens don't know what all. This afternoon have been up to Uncle Dan [Tillotson]'s. Louisa is staying with me.

 

Sun 7 - [at home] Stayed at home all day. Wrote a letter to Aunt Polly [Prichard] and [Erastus]Rattie. This eve Mr. Squires has been here.

 

Mon 8 - [at home] Did not wash. Looked so much like rain. Had the toothache all day.

 

Tues 9 - [at home] Baked 5 pumpkin pies and 3 loaves of bread. Went down to see Uncle Zadok [Tillotson]. He is not as well. Took tea with Nellie [Parnell Butts].

 

Wed 10 - [at home] Washing. Father has been to York and I have been down to see Amelia [Heacock]. Had a good visit. Jonathan has got home again. Lib has come home.

 

Thurs 11 - [at home] Ironing and sewing. Lib is not as well today. Tonight Dry and I have been down to Mr. Bryan's to dance with the Lodernites.

 

Fri 12 - [at home] Have not done much today. Feel rather old. It is now 8 o'clock. Lib and I have come to bed in hopes to make out a good night's rest.

 

Sat 13 - [at home] Doing all kinds of housework. Lib is better. Father has gone to the Lodge.

 

Sun 14 -[at home] Aunt Olive [Tillotson] has been here. Father and Mother have been down to see Uncle Zadock [Tillotson]. He is not as well. Jennie is staying here.

 

Mon 15 - [at home] Have been washing. Had a very large one. Tonight Nellie and Sarah Butts are here. Walked up.

 

Tues 16 - [at home] Nellie and Sarah [Butts] went home right after dinner. Jennie, Louisa and Chub have been to make Aunt Olive [Tillotson] a visit. The girls are staying here.

 

Wed 17 - [at home] Jennie and Louisa went home before breakfast. I have been sewing all day. Lib has worked some today.

 

Thurs 18 - [at home] Moping and churning. This afternoon Lib and I have been over to Sarah Bennett's. Heard some big yarns.

 

Fri 19 - no entry

 

Sat 20 - [at home] Have had the work to do alone. Father and Mother have gone to Liverpool to quarterly meeting. Dry came over and spent the eve.

 

Sun 21 - [at home] Tim come up this morn from Mr. Barker's. Dry and Lewis was here to tea. Dry has gone to see Cal. Good luck to him.

 

Mon 22 - [at home] Tim went from here this morning. Mother has been spinning. Lib and I sewing. Put commenced going to school today.

 

Tues 23 - [at home] Have been sewing on Pa's pants. Elliott is boarding here. Dry came over and spent the eve. Rec'd a letter from Rattie [cousin Erastus Prichard]. Ma one from [brother] Will.

 

Wed 24 - [at home] Lib has gone to Uncle Dan [Tillotson]'s to make Dry a pair of pants and I have been sewing on Pa's. Never shall get them done.

 

Thurs 25 - [at home] Have been washing today for my Thanksgiving. Had the old Shanghai for supper. Johnny was here to supper. No more, good night.

 

Fri 26 - [at home] Finished Pa's pants today and glad was I. Have done the ironing. Elliott and I have been singing this eve.

 

Sat 27 - [at home] Moped and baked. This afternoon have wrote to Rattie [cousin Erastus Prichard]. It snows like fun.

 

Sun 28 - [at home] Staid at home all day. Dry brought Lib home just at night. Aaron [Thurman ?] is staying here. Faith shure and he is right from the old country.

 

Mon 29 - [at home] Done a large wash. Pa and Ma went to Uncle Zadock [Tillotson]'s, Lib to Peter Bryan's. Tim is staying here with me tonight -- walked up from Williard's.

 

Tues 30 - [at Uncle Dan's] Ironed in the forenoon. In the afternoon Tim and I went down to Elliott's school a little while. Went down to Mr. Peak [Peck?]'s [possibly Tim's father]. Tonight we are staying to Uncle Dan [Tillotson]'s.


December 1858

Wed 1 - [at home] Come home from Uncle Dan [Tillotson]'s in the morning. Moped, got dinner and Mrs. Stebbins and Mary Prichard have been here. Dry and I went to carry Tim back. Carrie [Caroline Tillotson] went with us. Had a good visit.

 

Thurs 2 - [at home] Dry and Lib have been to Berea to see Jennie. Louisa is staying here tonight. Rec a letter from Lottie Gardner.

 

Fri 3 - [at home] Helped Lib on her waist. Dry was here to dinner. Come over to have me cut his hair. Lib has got the Phthisic [asthma] tonight.

 

Sat 4 - [at home] Altered my hood and made Lib an apron. Father has gone to the Lodge. It rains like fun.

 

Sun 5 - [at home] Wrote a letter to Lottie [Gardner] and Lib one to George [Prichard?]. Went to bed at half past 8 o'clock.

 

Mon 6 - [at home] Done a large wash. Ma and Lib have gone to Royalton. Father, Put and I are here alone.

 

Tues 7 - [at home] Worked butter, moped and cleaned. This afternoon Amelia [Heacock] has been here. Jonathan came up and spent the eve. Ma and Lib got home at 4 o'clock.

 

Wed 8 - [at home] Ironing. Ma has been down to Mr. Bryan's. George E. Goodrich come and spent the eve.

 

Thurs 9 - [at home] Well, Lib and I have been to see Mrs. [Eliza] Goodrich. Elliott came in on his way home from school. Had a good visit.

 

Fri 10 - [at ?] Have been sewing all day. Tonight Lib and I have been to spelling school Emma Morton spelt the school down. Am staying with .... tonight.

 

Sat 11 - [at home] Lib and I have been down to see Uncle Zadock [Tillotson]. He is a good deal better. Went over to school a little while. Pa has gone to the Lodge.

 

Sun 12 - [at home] Wrote a letter to Dave and Lib one to Miles [Tillotson]. Lib and I went down to see Jennie just at night. Lib stayed all night.

 

Mon 13 - [at home] It rained all day so that I could not wash. Helped Ma bake. Lib come home in the morning and finished her dress.

 

Tues 14 - [at home] I went and carried Lib down to Aunt Anna's. Father has butchered two hogs. One weighed ....

 

Wed 15 - [at home] Helping Ma try lard. It has rained all day like fun. How lonely I am.

 

Thurs 16 - [at home] Done a large wash. Went over to Sarah [Bryan]'s a little while. Went down to the school house to meeting in the evening.

 

Fri 17 - [at home] Ironed in the forenoon. In the afternoon went down to see Jennie. Found her all alone.

 

Sat 18 - [at Mr. Bryan's] Have been staying all day with Jennie. This eve Louisa came home and Dry with her. Mr. Bryan has gone to Berea.

 

Sun 19 - [at home] Come home from Mr. Bryan's in the morning. Have been writing all day.

 

Mon 20 - [at home] Lib and I have been down to see Nellie [Parnell Butts]. Found Mrs. Butts most sick with a fever. Had a good visit.

 

Tues 21 - [at home] Lib and I have been making sausages. Tonight Lib has gone down to stay with Jennie. Rec a line from Miles [Tillotson].

 

Wed 22 - [at home] Washing. Had a large one. Don't feel like writing tonight.

 

Thurs 23 - [at home] Ironing, baking and sewing for Lib. Have got a dreadful headache.

 

Fri 24 - [at Mrs. Collyer's ?] Lib and I have been down to see Tryphenia [Freese]. She is better. Called to see Cal tonight. Lib and I have watched with Mrs. Culler ? [Collyer?]. It is 6 o'clock. Oh, how sleepy I am.

 

Sat 25 - [at home] Got home at half past 7 tired to death. Dry, Charley and Danny was here to dinner. Dry, Lib and Chub went down to see Jennie. Spent the eve to Peter [Bryan?]'s.

 

Sun 26 - [at home] Wrote a letter to Sarah and one to Miles [Tillotson]. It has rained like fun all day.

 

Mon 27 - [at home] Lib has gone to John Morton's a sewing. Father has been to Liverpool to mill. Uncle Zadock [Tillotson] is not as well.

 

Tues 28 - [at home] Have been washing. This eve Put and I have been up to Uncle Dan [Tillotson]'s. Oh, how muddy it is.

 

Wed 29 - [at home] Ironing and baking. Sarah Bryan has been here this afternoon. Had a good visit with her.

 

Thurs 30 - [at home] Pa has been up town. Did not get no letters. Put has gone down to stay with John. How the wind blows. Rather lonely.
