This dictionary has been compiled from dream discussions and interpretations on the Dreaming World mailing list. Please be aware that some dreams will have considerable different meaning to different dreamers, the first place you should start looking when you want to analyse a dream is within YOU. But if you're stuck, this just might help you out or give you a starting point :-) This list will be updated as more discussions come about.
DAUGHTER: Characterises a younger, female individual toward whom one has a protective and nurturing relationship in life. DEAD: Means lifeless; an absolute conclusion; a final closing. DEAD BODIES: Depict personality traits and attitudes, very often potential's, that are denied life by us, we have not allowed them expression. DEATH: In dreams signifies marriage by a lot of old superstition...also as in Tarot, big change... leaving the past behind. Not necessarily a bad thing but a thing many legitimately fear … Death in fact, usually symbolises new beginnings for either the dreamer, or the person they are dreaming dead. Termination, finality, new beginnings. DIAMONDS: Pertain to perfection. DOGS: Alludes to one's friends and close associates. A dog can symbolize loyalty and happy memories if known to the dreamer, like a family pet.. A dog can also symbolize the guardian of the underworld. Dogs, indeed animals of any kind often represent a form of emotion, dogs in particular associated with loyalty. A dog that runs away would be like you feeling guilt or disloyalty if you let go of certain emotion, parts of yourself. DOLPHINS: Symbolic of spiritual companionship... and their message as totem animals is: "help the children of the earth; flow with spirit and life". Dolphins are also perceived by sailors as saviours and guides that have special knowledge and awareness. A dolphin represents a "coming from the depths" the unconscious... SEE ALSO... More Dolphin Symbology DONKEY: emphasizes independence. DOORS: Represent a movement between 2 states of being. It can represent an entry into a new phase of life and can suggest that there may be new opportunities available to us which we must make a deliberate decision. Indicates a life factor that one must experience or "pass through" to achieve advancement or progress along one's path. Can also represent the openings of the body; front door - vagina, back door- anus. SEE ALSO: More on Door Symbolism DOWN: represents a return to the basics; a fundamental level. DRAGONS: Characterises one's self-generated fears. To me dragons are a source of inner-strength. Many people have dragon blood in them from the time when the dragon's walked the land... (at least, this is my belief - LK)... and this could be a "getting in touch" thing for them. Dragons now live on the astral planes, but many people have them visiting their dreams to offer wisdom and knowledge from the astral plane. It could be possible that you have a dragon trying to reach you... or it could be as the dream book says... characterisation of your self-generated fears... DRIED BLOOD: A “drying up” of one's "life force" or driving motivation. DRIVING (or movement up): Striving towards ideals or activating mental / spiritual. DYING: Forewarns of the death of one's high ideals or an actual physical demise.
