STARS! FOR BEGINNERS

I Patch Download Site -- needed for All of my Games

I have a number of play aids to help the STARS! Novice or Beginner-level Player. There are, as well, numerous fine articles on some other websites.

Race Creation is one of the trickiest part of the STARS! Game. Click on the Links below to read the various articles on Race Design.

Note that there used to be more articles here, but that many of the links "died". The owners of STARS!-R-Us and The Mystery Guild both have fine article libraries. I suggest that you visit them and look through their subjects. Both contain many fine articles -- some overlap and some unique to each site.

Another excellent resource is to read the postings on the STARS! Newsgroup . Find out from your local ISP how to tap into "newsgroups" -- then go to the following newsgroup:
rec.games.computer.stars

Another thing to take a look at is "IRC" Blitz games. In order to do this, you will need to have some software called "mIRC". This can be downloaded for free. Go to the closest mIRC mirror site near you. Once you have downloaded and installed this software, you need to go to one of the "Starlink" (not "StarlinkIRC") sites and join the #STARS! channel.

Note that "Blitz" games are not for everyone. They try to play an entire game in just a few hours. They do this by playing "four-year" moves every six to ten minutes. I find it too rushed for my taste, but you can learn a lot! And, if you identify yourself as a "Beginner", you can often get some good help and advice. Be warned, however, that a lot of the "people" that show as being online are really robots. Still, this is worth a look.

Also, take a look at the various STARS! Websites on the following Web-Ring, you might enjoy a lot of them:
