The Lighthouse and Common Room

Towering LightHouse of Land Ho! The Lighthouse is cylinderical in shape, set out on a high peak over looking the ocean. Its light guides the ships of the Pirate's fleet to Land and saftey. The special reflecting surface in the top of the LightHouse is such that it reflects the sun during the day and is lit with fires at night. It is also used to detect and burn enemy ships before they can reach shore. The guiding light can be seen for 50 pasangs.

Little did we know...when we surveyed this place from tarn-back, that at a long distant time past, another structure existed on this spot. During construction a smooth stone deck was un-earthed. You can almost feel the age of the stones. That deck is now the main deck of the lighthouse - the foyer, if you will. The remains of this ancient structure have also supplied many mysteries and assets to the Land. Some of which are shown to you.....some of which, are not.

The main room is known as the common area and is almost three quarters of the way up the Lighthouse. It, too, is round and filled with comfortable furnishings. The private quarters are on other levels. There is a very wide opening leading out to the massive deck that circles the entire structure. The views are wonderous and full. As you walk out onto the deck, the sun shines brightly and it reflects off of Thassa which surrounds three sides of the Lighthouse. Walking around to the other side, the plains of the Tuchuk lie before the majestic rise of the regal mountains of Land. Land was built to give Corsair a bit of Thassa, his Lady a bit of the Mountains, both loved and dear to their hearts, and the sky of the Tuchuks.

To your left is the wonderous cove, protected from the pounding waves of Thassa by the coral reefs, its white sand beach untouched, waters clear, unspoiled and still....full of the life of Thassa...marked only by the foot-prints of Love. 'Tis one of many of Lady TERA's favorite places.

Looking to the right there are sheer cliffs pounded by Thassa's fury, sprays of crashing water raising high above them with each break. The sun filtering through the mist leaves continuous rainbows floating in the air.

Walking to the back side of the tower, the Land's Mountains fill the skies rising so high as to still have ice on the peaks. High in those peaks, tarns nest and raise their young.

Towering LightHouse of Land Ho!It is an interesting note that Tarl Cabot was living and teaching on Urth in an area where many Lighthouses exist, when he was taken to Gor. The Captain has done research on some of these Lighthouses. None compare to the Land's Lighthouse, but they are interesting and a beauty to behold.
