I confess I am a hopeless romantic; I am crazy about romance and love songs.
Despite this fascination with love, I am no goddess of love. In fact, I have absolutely no experience when it comes to romantic love; guess it could be the image guys have of me--serious and no-nonsense. Being bigger and taller than
most guys I know does not help either *wry grin* Guess I am just not
the kind of girls guys date...
However,I'm not in despair. I believe my time will come as and when I am ready to experience love. As the Wife of Bath in Chaucer's Canterbury Tales says,
Literally,it says,"There is no goose so grey(ugly) that it wishes to be without a mate. "This medieval proverb,in plain English, simply means that each of us have a potential partner somewhere. Therefore, all of you who have been disappointed in love, or are jaded cynics,do take heart; be more optimistic!
The idea of naming this page, a compilation of materials related to love, comes from the Shakespearean play, Merchant of Venice, which I studied in high school.
Here,"pilgrimage" suggests that love is holy, and is something sacred. I agree with this view, and I just had to name this page my Love Shrine when I first conceived the idea. This is the celebration of love! Personally, I find that love is a complicated thing; it is hard to define, since it 'll be insufficient to say love is a feeling, emotion. This seems such an inadequate defination. I would say love also shows through what one does for a loved one; it involves give and take, and frankly speaking, love hurts.
Fidelity is something which I treasure and expect from my love; yet to my
disappointment, I've witnessed too many broken marriages, so much so that I'm
disillusioned now... Many male friends have told me that it is really impossible for a man to be 100% faithful; they find it hard to resist temptation! To be fair, what makes me think a woman can be faithful all the time? A girlfriend replied, when asked what she thinks of men and fidelity,
that what if SHE is the one unfaithful? It is a scary thought that
you will face that one man or woman for the rest of your life; what if you find someone better later, or if he bores you to tears? Do e-mail me and tell me what you think!
Of course, one can protect oneself from being hurt by not feeling in the first place; however, that means one will never fully enjoy life to the fullest. I will live up to my name, and experience all that life has to offer. C'est la vie! If it means I have to risk being hurt by love,I have to accept it as part of life. At least I'd have some fond memories of having loved truly, madly and deeply, right?
I'm very lucky indeed to have found my very own darling Jesse ;) He brings out the best in me, and I'm still amazed that he loves me so much. Right now I'm enjoying basking in his love *grin*
