LOSSA Ties: How they are decided
Regular Season Games: No overtime; score stands.
Playoff Games:
Coin toss to determine which team will start with offense vs. defence and which end of the field will be used.
Teams will participate in a shootout. Each team will get at least one attempt from the 35 yard line to score. First downs maintain possession. First team to take a lead in an even amount of turns will win.
Each team will receive one timeout per overtime shoot out being defined as the offensive and defensive cycle.
The defensive opponent to start the shootout must, at minimum, match the points gained by the first offensive team. If points are not matched, the team with the most points is declared the winner .
If points are matched, an additional shootout session is conducted (no coin toss) in the same order as the previous. This will be played on the opposite end of the field to negate wind advantages etc.
If a ball is intercepted or a fumble picked up in overtime by the defense, it is live and a touchdown scored will end the game.
Division Alignment and Schedules
All Varsity only schools (V) compete in Tier 2
Tier 1 teams will play each opponent within their own division once. A sixth game interlocking will be played based on league/school rivalries (eg: Eastdale vs. Paul Dwyer; Port Perry vs. Uxbridge).
Tier 2 Senior teams will play each opponent once for a seven game schedule.
Tier 1 will have quarter-final games within own division, then division cross over for semi-finals followed by Championship.
Tier 2 (Junior and Senior) will have semi-finals and Championship.
Tier 1 Junior will be identical to Tier 1 Senior in structure.
Tier 2 Junior will be comprised of six teams. These teams will play each opponent once and one opponent twice for a six game schedule.
The two Tier 1 schools with the worst combined Junior/Senior record would be relegated to Tier 2 in 2009 while the top two Tier 2 schools with the best combined Junior/Senior records would move up to Tier 1 in 2009. Varsity only programs would remain in Tier 2.
