LOSSA Tie Breakers Explained with Examples (from Senior League)
(The information below reflects the current OTS understanding of the application of tie breakers within LOSSA)

Two Way Tie

Assume Wilson and Dunbarton, each finish the season with records of 4-2.  Wilson would be ranked higher as they defeated Dunbarton during regular season play.

Three Way Tie

Example 1
Assume Wilson, Dunbarton and St. Mary all tie at 4-2.  Wilson would be ranked first (as they defeated the other two schools), Dunbarton second as they defeated St. Mary.

Example 2
Assume Dunbarton, Eastdale and St. Mary all finished tied at 3-3.  Each school has won one game and lost one game against each other.  One would then look at the point differential in each game played.

To date:
Dunbarton defeated St. Mary 14-4.  (Dunbarton +10, St. Mary -10)
St. Mary defeated Eastdale 20-8.  (St. Mary +12, Eastdale -12)
Dunbarton has yet to play Eastdale.

Therefore before the Dunbarton vs. Eastdale game on October 23rd; totals are currently Dunbarton +10, St. Mary +2, Eastdale -12.

If Eastdale wins by:
15, or more, then Eastdale would be +3, St. Mary +2 and Dunbarton -5.  Rank would be Eastdale, St. Mary, Dunbarton
14, then Eastdale would be +2, St. Mary +2 and Dunbarton -4.  Rank would be St. Mary, Eastdale, Dunbarton.  (Advantage St. Mary due to win over Eastdale).
13, then St. Mary would be +2, Eastdale +1, Dunbarton -4.  Rank would be St. Mary, Eastdale, Dunbarton.
12, same situation as winning by 13.
11, then St. Mary +2, Eastdale -1, Dunbarton -1.  Rank would be St. Mary, Eastdale, Dunbarton. (Advantage Eastdale due to win over Dunbarton).
10, then St. Mary +2. Dunbaton 0, Eastdale -2.  Rank would be St. Mary, Dunbarton, Eastdale.
9, then same as winning by 10.
8, then Dunbarton +2, St. Mary +2, Eastdale -4.  Rank would be Dunbarton, St. Mary, Eastdale. (Advantage Dunbarton due to win over St. Mary).
7, then Dunbarton +3, St. Mary +2, Eastdale -5.  Rank would be Dunbarton, St. Mary, Eastdale.
6, or less, then same situation as above.

Four Way Tie

Should Holy Trinity, Paul Dwyer, Pine Ridge and Uxbridge all tie at 3 wins, 3 losses

Step one – remove crossover results to arrive at records with common opponents:
Pine Ridge would lose the result of their 28-14 loss to Dunbarton
Holy Trinity would lose the result of their 27-6 win over Sinclair
Paul Dwyer would lose the result of their 12-9 win over Eastdale
Uxbridge would lose the result of their 22-6 win over Port Perry

Records would now be
Pine Ridge 3-2
Holy Trinity 2-3
Paul Dwyer 2-3
Uxbridge 2-3

Pine Ridge would be seeded first amongst the four teams

Now there would be a three way tie between Holy Trinity, Paul Dwyer and Uxbridge so the three way tie-breaker would be employed.

Regular season results
Holy Trinity beat Uxbridge 22 - 14
Paul Dwyer beat Uxbridge 7 - 0
Paul Dwyer beat Holy Trinity 34 – 31

Paul Dwyer is 2-0; Holy Trinity 1-1 and Uxbridge 0-2.  Therefore Paul Dwyer would be seeded second, Holy Trinity third and Uxbridge fourth amongst the four teams.

Once again, we wish to stress that the above is strictly our interpretation based on conversation with LOSSA administrators.
