According to the Fermeuse/Renews marriage records, Michael Clancy of "Capline Bay" married Margaret Hart at Fermeuse in 1842. Based on the voters lists, he was living there in 1846 and 1847, but then his name disappears entirely from the voters lists for Ferryland District. However in 1860, the Fermeuse baptisms recorded the birth of a son, John Joseph, to Michael Clancy and Bridget Brennan. It appears likely that this is the same Michael Clancy that first married in 1842 since his second wife was born in the 1820s.
In 1869, Michael was given a Crown land grant for property on the North Side of Caplin Bay, and he is listed as a fisherman at Caplin Bay in 1871. It is not known when Michael died, but he does not appear in McAlpine's Directory of 1894-97. His wife, Bridget, is listed as a widow at Caplin Bay in McAlpine's Directory of 1898.

John was first recorded in the voters list at Caplin Bay in 1859. This means that he was 21, or older, at that time. The assumed death of his father, Patrick, between 1855 and 1859, probably left him as the male head of the household, and therefore an eligible voter.
John married Anne. Anne was born in Caplin Bay, NF. She died 1 on 5 Feb 1914 in Cape Broyle, NF. She was buried in Ferryland RC Cemetery.

There is no clear indication as to whose daughter Mary Ann may have been. The headstone transcription may be incorrect, since the 1921 Census shows a Mary A. Clancey (b. Aug 1856) was still living at Caplin Bay. There is also a possibility that this was the Anne born to Walter and Bridget in Aug. 1859, and not a daughter of John.
According to the 1921 Census, Mary A. Clancey was single and the postmistress for Caplin Bay.
5. "Stray" Clancy (Patrick ).
This a not an actual individual but a method of grouping individuals whose origin and/or relationship to the Calvert Clancys has not been determined at this time.
