Vertigo

• Vertigo is an illusion of motion, i.e. spinning, tumbling or falling
• it is not feeling light-headed , feeling faint or described as "my head is spinning"

Diagnostic tests

• physical exam of cranial nerves, ears, balance, gait, Hallpike test for Benign positional vertig
• audiogram
• ENG
• CT/MRI
• Doppler

Classic vestibular causes of vertigo/dizziness:

• motion sickness
• acute viral labyrinthitis (vestibular neuronitis)
• Meniere's Disease
• Benign positional paroxysmal vertigo (BPV)
• vertebral basilar insufficiency (TIA's of the brainstem)
• acoustic neuroma
