The Agility Association of Canada and the Canadian Kennel Club have
different rules and qualifications. For example, no weave polls in
CKC until Intermediate but AAC has weaves from the start. The
A-frame is 5'6" in CKC and at one time was 6'3"
in AAC Standard classes (it is now also 5'6") and 5'
in Veterans and Specials. If you do not qualify in CKC you cannot
be placed or receive a ribbon but you don't need to qualify for
AAC to receive a ribbon.
Spice and I started competing in CKC and AAC agility in 2001. He
got one Q (qualifying score) out of 12 runs.

trials in Pickering.
In 2002 we were much more successful with 10 Qs out of 30 runs
and two CKC titles (AGN and AGI).
In 2003 Spice got 14 Qs out of 56 runs and he obtained three AAC
titles (SADC, VAADC, VMJDC). Not as high a Q rate but the courses
got more difficult as Spice advanced.
In 2004 Spice got 9 Qs out of 69 runs and he obtained three AAC
titles (VMSDC,VMADC,VMTRDC). Spice qualified for the Nationals in
June with a score of 377.87. At the Nationals Spice got three sixth
place ribbons - one in each type of event (standard, jumpers and
gamblers). His total score was 424.96.
In 2005 Spice got 24 Qs out of 70 runs. Spice qualified for
the Nationals in June with a score of 367.82. Spice obtained his
Veteran Masters Gamblers Dog of Canada (VMGDC) title and his
Veteran Agility Trial Champion of Canada (VATChC) title in July. He
took his first plane ride and we competed in the AAC Nationals in
Saskatoon. His total score was 359.16.

In 2006 Spice got 27 Qs out of 60 runs. Spice qualified for
the Nationals in June with a score of 468.47 - his highest
qualifying score to date. Spice obtained his Bronze Award of Merit
in May and his 12th agility title (CKC Agility Novice Jumpers
Selected - AGNJS) in July. Great year for a 10 year old. Here is a
video of one of his Master Standard runs. He loves the cooler
weather.
