News of January 21, 2001

^^Gr8_White^^ officially confirmed ^^Fox^ as First and ^Goblin^ as CSR, saying, "I am looking forward to working with them in order to accomplish the goals we have for the next term."

Unfortunately, ^Hammer^, the current CS Webmaster, announced that he would like to resign his position due to problems with Kali and personal issues.  ^^Gr8_White^^ will be assuming Webmaster duties until a replacement for ^Hammer^ is found.

Today began Clan Sharks' first LAN Fest of 2001, hosted by ^^Fox^.  Sharks drove from across the country for a fast-paced, heart-pounding, game-filled weekend!  CS thanks ^^Fox^ for hosting such a fun event!

^^Redeye^^ called a meeting of the Elders today.  He announced that it is time for his term as Leader to come to an end and is therefore stepping down.  Clan Sharks thanks ^^Redeye^^, the longest reigning Leader, for a job well done!  ^^Redeye^^ was offered Honored Shark status in a unanimous vote of the Elders.  He declined the offer, however, to remain an active Elder.

^^Gr8_White^^- announced that he would like to come out of retirement and was unanimously voted back into Elder status.  ^^Gr8_White^^ was also later unanimously voted into the position of Leader!  Welcome back, ^^Gr8_White^^!

^^Fox^, the current First of the SftDs was unanimously voted into Elder status.  ^^Fox^ has requested, however, that he remain the current First because he would like to accomplish some things before leaving office.

We have a few new Remoras pending, so SftDs, don't forget to cast your votes (and hopefully we won't have to recount all of them).  We are also now running a slightly improved version of the old site.  I hope to make something more elaborate in the future, but for now I just wanted Frontpage to like it. ;)

Today, Megamouth and his family announced the dates for the second Clan Sharks' LAN Fest! The Fest will start on Friday evening, August 4, 2000 and last until Monday, August 7, 2000. Every Shark is invited!

Last year's Fest was an overwhelming success! Adrenaline-charged games were played constantly throughout the weekend. Check out Goblin's site and Requin's site for some pictures of last year's event!

YOU SHOULD NOT MISS THIS EVENT! If you would like to attend, please contact Megamouth A.S.A.P. so that he can 1) provide directions, 2) answer any questions you have and 3) get an idea on the number of people that will be attending.

The Elders held a meeting a few nights ago. At this meeting many things were discussed, mainly promotions and appointment to new positions.

In total, there were 3 promotions. First, was the "First", after 2 terms of service, ^^Savage^ stepped down and ^^Redeye^ has stepped up to take his place, CONGRATS ^^Redeye^^.

A new member has been given a position in the Clans record keeping. Congrats go out to ^Copper for taking the position of CSR (Clan Sharks Recorder). Congrats!!

As well, ^^Requin^^ was voted in to take another term as leader of Clan Sharks. Congrats bud!

Lastly, a new Elder was named at the meeting. With almost one and a half years with the clan, ^^Savage^^ has been promoted to the rank of Elder.

^^Savage^ and ^^Sidewinder^^ hosted a Squad tournament the other night. We had 8 sharks come out and play, in the end it was Squad 2 who won the matches with a narrow victory in a tie breaker match.

Finally, after many months of great service, our CSR, ^Greyreef^ has stepped down. To pick up the slack (or create more) ^^Requin^^ has taken his spot. Good job ^Grayreef^.

^^Sidewinder^^ was unanimously elected Leader of the clan again today. This election marked the beginning of Sidewinder's third term as Leader, the longest any other Leader has held the position.

Also, ^^Shark^ stepped down as First of the SftDs. In doing so, he passed the "fin" to ^Savage^. The Elders thanked ^Shark^ for his hard work over the last several months and welcomed ^^Savage^ to the position.

In other news, the Elders decided to dissolve Clan Shark's alliance with Clan L.O.D. due to the lack of participation of their members.

News of December 13, 1998

Last night was the first (of many we hope) get together of the Sharks and the Rangers' Blue Lightning Squadron. A tourney was played with teams being made up of one Shark and one Ranger. Because of the amount of pilots that showed up, the tourney play was Single Elimination. Everyone had a great time and had loads of fun playing the matches. In this case :Ironman: and ^^Requin^^ came out on top, winning all there matches. If you would like more information on this event, check out this page.

^^Requin^^ hosted another exciting Clan Sharks tourney. This time is was in team play % format. We had ^^Gr8_White^^ and ^^Thresher^^ swallowing the rest of the teams with ^^Mako^^ and ^^Manta^^ right on their tail fins.

Last night ^^Gr8_White^^ hosted the first ever Defender tourney. In this tourney you were put on a defending or attacking team and were given points according to the rules of a defender tourney after your match. In this case the Defending team (^Kou_Joe^ & ^^Sidewinder^^, ^Savage^ & ^WhiteTip^ and (WCC)Chucky & ^Dynamic) proved victorious with a points total of 40 to 20. After that, another mini Defender tourney was held, in this case the teams of ^^Sidewinder^^ & ^^Manta^^ and ^^Gr8_White^^ & ^WhiteTip^ came out on top. Many thanks go out to ^^Gr8_White^^ for hosting this first ever Defender tourney !!

Today, October 1, 1998, marks the first year in the life of Clan Sharks. More than half the clan made it to the celebration which was held on Kali. It was a time for reflection, remembering accomplishments, reminiscing, and ADRENALINE PUMPING ACTION! Sidewinder and Savage presented their latest level, Defender, as a present to the clan! This level introduced a new mode of Game Play to Descent II. Click here to get the level.

The original Founders set out to create the best gaming group on the net when they established the clan a year ago today. Within this last year, all of the members of Clan Sharks have contributed to accomplishing this objective for them. Congratulations on your first of many birthdays to come, Clan Sharks!

Clan Sharks has allied with Clan L.O.D.! Here is the text of the agreement governing the new alliance:

1. There is to be no provocation between our clans. This means that we keep our games friendly and light hearted, treating each other with respect. Further, we do not brag about our victories or whine about our losses.

    

2. When it comes to training new members of our clans, we can pool our resources. In other words, if a L.O.D. member needs training, you can send him/her to the Sharks. If a Shark member needs training, we can send him/her your way.

    

3. We can pool our resources in disputes with other Clans. In other words, if one of us gets into a dispute with another Clan, we can call for aid from each other. Before agreeing to aid each other, however, both sides of the dispute must be heard. I would not expect the L.O.D. to enter a dispute between the Sharks and another clan without first hearing both sides of the story, and vice versa.

    

4. We shall try to include each other in tournaments and contests. The Sharks, for example, hold "just for fun", two-person team tournaments on a regular basis. We (the Sharks) would, under this provision, try to let you know that we were holding a tournament, and providing it doesn't exclude any of our members, invite you to fly in it. You (the L.O.D.) would do the same.

   This provision, of course, does not mean that we (the L.O.D. and the Sharks) cannot hold private tournaments and contests. It simply means that we will each make an effort to include the other clan as often as possible.

    

5. No member of our clans can join the other clan unless:

    

   • The leaders of both clans agree OR

   • The person in question has been a member of neither clan for a minimum of two weeks.

A new division of Clan Sharks was formed: the Justice And War Squadron, or J.A.W.S. The J.A.W.S. of Clan Sharks, formed from the Clan's five most competitive two-person teams, will fight in inter-clan tournaments and competitions.

^Thresher^ sponsored the second Clan Shark Team Tournament. Fun dominated the competition. ^Megamouth^ and ^6Gill^ narrowly emerged the victors in the team matches, while ^Gr8_White^ and ^Manta^ took second place.

^Gr8_White^ sponsored the first Clan Shark Team Tournament. ^Thresher^ and ^Manta^ emerged the victors.

^5Gill and ^Seawolf were admitted to our Clan as Shallow Water Sharks.

In other news...

The following decisions were made by the Elders and the Sharks from the Depths on 10/26/97:

1. Clan Sharks is not joining the DCWF right now. The leaders feel that it is not in the best interests of the Clan to join such a new and untried organization. The leaders will reevaluate the DCWF in the future.

    

2. Clan Sharks is going to encourage its members to begin playing more team matches in preparation for inter-clan matches.

    

3. ^6Gill^ is going to flush out the details of a new division of Clan Sharks. The name of this new division is the "Hunter/Killer Squadron". This squadron of Sharks will be a bit more competitive but will also adhere to the core principles of the clan.

   Once the details of this squadron have become more clear, the leaders will vote again as to whether it should become a formal part of the Clan.

   Clan Shark members: Please send all feedback on this squadron to ^6Gill^ and ^Gr8_White^.

    

4. Clan Sharks is going to start formally challenging other clans to fun, fair matches.

At a recent meeting, ^6Gill^, expressing a desire among many Sharks, proposed ^Gr8_White^ as Leader of the Clan. He was voted in unanimously by the assembled Elders. Long live ^Gr8_White^!

After a small speech, ^Gr8_White^ proposed that SWSs ^Sidewinder and ^Thresher be promoted to Sharks from the Depths in recognition of their contributions to the Clan. His proposal was approved unanimously by the Elders.
