I intend to report on this page efforts I am undertaking to save the show. I urge you to do some or all of these things yourself. Please let me know of other ideas you have. This page will constantly be a work in progress. People—this is mobilization! I will date when things are added (and they will be added to the top), so you'll be able to identify the most recent additions. IDEA OF THE WEEK: PLANET FEEDBACK Write a complaint to Comedy Central via www.planetfeedback.com (click to go there now). PlanetFeedback says they will do all they can to deliver our letters, no matter what it takes. If they can't get through via e-mail, they'll fax. No fax? They'll snail-mail it at their own expense. Whatever it takes to make sure our voice gets heard, they'll do it. This is one more way we can be sure our voices are reaching the Comedy Central suits. (added 10/1/00) POSTCARDS FROM THE EDGE Send a postcard each day to Comedy Central, changing the verbage each day so they take notice. I will be adding a log of postcard sayings shortly, to give you ideas. I also will create several postcard sized, SWC-themed artworks that you will be able to print out on card stock and send. (added 10/1/00) HEED THE CALL Each day at approximately 3 p.m. call the Comedy Central offices and leave a recorded message regarding the show. If this time doesn't work for you, call whenever you can, but if we all call at about the same time, all our messages will be grouped and seem that much more impressive. Also, consider calling after-hours. Then, in the morning when the messages are played, there will be a grouping of calls from us! We are trying to maintain the show's ranking as one of the top 5 comedy shows. You will have to register on the site, but it is very quick. (added 10/1/00) UNCHAINED MELODY I am going to start an e-mail chain regarding the show and to announce this site. I will post the verbage after I send out mine. Please start your own chain by copying this verbage or make up your own and send a message to all of your e-mail contacts. We all hate spam, but if you really love the show and believe your friends and contacts will as well, it's not spam—it's good advice. (added 10/1/00) HIT 'EM WHERE IT COUNTS: THE ADVERTISERS I would like to get a list of advertisers who have supported the show. We could write to each, saying we saw their ads and thanking them for sponsoring such an entertaining show. Then, we could write a second letter expressing our discouragement over the show's cancellation and urging the companies to reconsider their support of Comedy Central (since we won't be tuning in anymore). If you remember any of the commercials you have seen or are able to take notice the next time you watch, please e-mail me the names of advertisers (national companies whose spots run during the show), and I will start creating a list of addresses, which I will post on this site once it becomes substantial. (added 10/1/00) ALERT THE MEDIA! Write a letter to your local newspaper alerting the staff about our effort to save the show and make our voices heard. Staff people are most interested in what people in their area are doing, especially if you're a reader or a subscriber (and make sure you mention that if you are).
