slow realization |

Summer some time in 2003.... I see a bunch of guys under a tarp smearing something all over the walls at
Haskells....I'm like
"whaaaaa?"
( I later learn they are making rubber molds of the stone work) |

Early August 2003.....Driving back from somewhere one day in my ol' pickup truck, I decide to show my girlfriend some of the scenic back roads. Stopping on Cossart road where one of my favorite hiking trails cross it ...I find its fenced off. And the trail is now a wide gravel drive, big pile of hay bails blocking the view into the field....and "No Trespassing Signs" posted all over the place.
My girl friend says "lets drive in there...they are up to something". I say "nah...they must be storing hay in that field or something".
Late August 2003..... I get stuck behind 2 big trailers blocking the
road...some local has blocked them with his SUV and called the cops…
pissed off about all these trailers that have been going down the road...I later see them pulled in
at Haskells... I'm like "WTF is it with all these trailers?" September 22, 2003.... Hurricane Isabel rips this whole place up...no power for 5 days....one of the trucks pulling a trailer gets stuck at the cross roads because of all the power lines down....my friends goes up to the truck driver and says "dude----what’s up with all these freakin trailers?" Truck driver says "they're shooting some movie over in the next field bud" So I ask some of the other locals what they knew about this and they said "didn't you know about the movie? Called "The Woods" or something. They had casting calls the other month...looking for 'character faces'.. its some Disney flick with Sigourney Weaver and one of those Phoenix kids, takes place in the 19th century, about some village and mythical creatures" I was like "WTF..they remaking The Gnome Mobile?" They said "no--its some director named Shamalamadingdong or something" I say "ahhhhhhh--- now I know" |

So I think Haskells is a neat place....old stone barrns and stuff. Great place to shoot a Disney flick. Then someone tells me "they're not shooting at Haskells....they are shooting in the fields Haskells owns on the other side of Cossart Road....
....they built a whole village in there.
Go to the top of Big Bend hill and have a look" So I go and
see......ahhh!! That's where they are...
