How
The Final Score
Is Calculated

The Writing Categories

What Does This All mean?
Collumn A The Contender's Tiltle

That's - as you might have noticed - the title of the film.

Collumn B The Calendar Points

Collumn B contains the points as measured in the way I explained on the Calendar.

Collumn C The Tie Avoiding Points

Here you can read how many times the film got new points. I installed Collumn C to avoid ties.

Example:
If you click on Eternal Sunshine's Collumn B you'll see ' =1.5+3+3+3+1+1+1.5+4+4+1+2’. This equals 25 (Collumn B), but it took 11 points (Collumn C) to get there.

Collumn D The Amount of Best Picture Awards and Nominations

Contains the amount of best picture awards and nominations received by this film.

The considered awards are PGA nominations, DGA nominations, SAG-Ensemble nominations, NBR Top 10, Broadcast Film Critics Top 10, Dallas Film Critics Top 10, Southeastern Film Critics Top 10, Best Picture Nominations from the Golden Globes (drama+ comedy), Online Film Critics Society, BAFTA, Best Picture winners of the LAFCA, NYFCC, NSFC, European Film Awards, Florida Film Critics, Satellites (drama only) and the San Diego Film Critics.

For foreign language films, all awards for best foreign language film are included ; for animated features all the awards for best animated feature are included ; for documentaries all the awards for best documentary are included (winners only, not the nominations ; only awards mentionned on the calendar)

Collumn E The Final Score

The Final Scores in the writing categories are calculated as follows:

Calender Points + (The Tie Avoiding Points - 1) * 0.11) + (Amount of Best Picture Awards and Nominations * 0.35)

For The Queen, the Final Score in the writing category = 25 + ((11 - 1) * 0.11) + (8 * 0.35) = 28.90
