The requirements
SIM International is a mission board which dates back to 1893 and it's hundred plus years of missions service has given deep and wide spiritual nourishment around the corners of our globe.
For reasons which are emphasized in their motto, "BY PRAYER", they have strict guidelines for those who may join the mission.
Spiritual: We must agree with the doctrinal statement of the mission, sign on paper that we do, and follow their handbook policies in fields where we are assigned as well as at home.
Character: The mission reviews our backgrounds and inquires to references we must supply and makes a determination of our character to see if we are able to carry on responsibilities of missionary work. For short term missionaries the requirements are not as stringent as for those joining the mission for the rest of their lives. In their case they must also go to candidate school for one month and be accepted there.
Financial Support: We must raise our own financial support because they are not a company that pays salaries. SIM International is a faith mission that helps missionaries to be sent, governed, encouraged, directed and taken care of when health or other emergency needs are encountered.
Insurance: We must have some insurance that is similar to health care in that it also provides for medical evacuation if needed.

Our Acceptance
On May 4th, we were given the green light by SIM and encouragement to let the need be known as best as possible. This gave us a good feeling and knowledge that we were resting on good foundations and experienced boundaries. It is a joy to belong to a mission!
