![]() SAOTOME RANMARanma, though with his short time of existence, is the most sought-after guy in the series. One heck of a martial artist After making a certain promise to Nodoka, Genma takes Ranma on a training trip when Ranma was about 3 yrs old. He'd make the kid do crazy things that, according to Genma, would develop his fighting skills. Ranma is, in fact, very good at martial arts. Kempo is his life. But the problem is, because of these training trips (and the mere fact that Ranma is an amazing fighter), Ranma is somehow a magnet for trouble. Ore wa OTOKO da ze!!!
While Ranma was in training at the mysterious Jusenkyo training grounds in China, he kicked Genma into the Shonmaoniichuan, not knowing that the place was cursed. Genma, then proceeds to throw the STUNNED Ranma into the Nyannichuan. He emerged as a young girl, according with the spring's curse. His fiancées... To complicate things even more, Ranma has a lot of fiancées, but only three are with the main cast. But don't think for one second that Ranma is a womanizer. No, all of these nuptial arrangements are all made against his will, or without him knowing at all. These fiancées are Kuonji Ukyo, whom he met when he was 6, Shampoo, whom he met after leaving Jusenkyo, and Tendo Akane...
Although Ranma appears to hate Akane, and behind the endless insults, he really loves her and cares for her very much. He always saves her from the trouble she gets herself into, and from the trouble HE causes her. Akane usually gets kidnapped partly because of him, and partly because of her. Ranma's "friends" keep turning up, and the Akane tries to help (it's "butting in" according to Ranma), then ends up getting kidnapped. But, this isn't always the case... Back to what I was saying, though neither would admit it, Ranma and Akane actually love each other, and I guess that's all that matters.^^ So there you have it. Ranma's three fiancées. BUT the problems don't stop there.... Other people trying to get a hold of him... There's still a whole lot of people from Ranma's past, trying to kill him and his father for various reasons (mostly these are caused by Genma), and also newfound "friends," who kidnaps one or more of the gang, who come constantly come and go to make Ranma's complicated life even more so. A very versatile guy...
Aside from being a great martial artist, he can also cook, he can do gymnastics, cheerleading, skate, and many more...he's a guy with many talents. He never turns down a challenge(martial arts rhythmic gymnastics, martial arts skating, martial arts tea ceremony, martial arts dinner, martial arts cheerleading...)...if there's a "martial-arts" in it, he'll learn how to do it and win it eventually... You have to admit, Ranma CAN think up of great stuff when he wants to. Ranma really is intelligent, he just doesn't want use his brain too much. Ranma often uses disguises to suit his purposes. Usually, these disguises are so stupid,
anyone can recognize him. But still, Ranma's cunning acting can *sometimes* pull it off.
He pretended to be Ryoga's fiancée, his sister, Hibiki Yoiko
(she doesn't really exist), his kouhai, Akane's cousin, Ranko (who doesn't really exist, either)
among MANY others.
CAT!!! But of course, every person has his weakness...and in Ranma's case, it's cats. Because of a dangerous part of his training when he was 6, he's terrified of them. Because of him, Ranma can't stand cats, and when he gets exposed to a cat too long, Ranma's brain TURNS into that of a cat. "You're still a girl...I can't do it..." Another weakness is he can't fight girls; actually, he chose not to fight girls. Not as seriously as when he's fighting guys, anyway. Omae kawaikunee n da yo! Ranma has, in my opinion, a cool way of speaking..although it IS sloppy. He uses rough, sloppy (I know, I know, I already said that) speech in either form. (ex. "kawaikunee" instead of "kawaikunai", "omoshiree" instead of "omoishiroi"). Notes about the name In credits, written in kanji for male Ranma, and in hiragana for female Ranma. His name means "disorderly or unruly horse." Though Ranma IS his name, Kuno calls her "osage no onna" meaning "pony-tailed girl." Cologne calls him "mukodono" (son-in-law) even when he's a girl. Ukyo calls him 'Ran-chan' like she did when they were kids. |
