TENDO AKANE

Akane is a very popular 16-year-old girl at Furinkan High School, admired by practically the whole population of males there. Every morning, she has to fight them. This is because of Kuno, the class president, who declared that anybody who wanted to date Akane would have to defeat her first. She is the heir to the Tendo Dojo, and the youngest of the daughters of Tendo Soun. Her sisters are Kasumi, 19, and Nabiki, 17. Her life was pretty normal. But then, the arrival of Ranma changes her life...

Even before they were born, one of the Tendo girls were arranged to marry a Saotome. But when Akane, now 16, and the her sisters meet Ranma, there was a slight problem... Ranma and his father arrive as girl and panda, and worse, Akane walks in on Ranma-kun in the bathroom. After the situation was (sort of) settled, everybody decides that Akane would marry Ranma. But Akane strongly disagrees to marry a hentai, and Akane doesn't like being engaged to a kawaiikunee tomboy, either.

In the rest of the series, Ranma and Akane continually quarrel, insult each other, and bite each other's head off...but if you listen closely, Ranma and Akane actually love each other, they just won't admit it.

Akane thinks that Ranma just underestimates her ability to fight so, you can usually see her trying to make him take her seriously in a fight. Eventually, though, Ranma spouts an insult, and we see Akane raising her favorite weapon aside from her fists, her mallet, which she happens to grab out of nowhere. If the mallet isn't present, a table, or any blunt object will do^^

Akane usually gets kidnapped or attacked partly because she IS a martial artist, and partly because she is Ranma's fiancee. Ranma has a lot of interesting "friends" that keep bugging him. Akane, then, usually tries to help solve Ranma's problems, but, more often than not, Ranma ends up saving her from the trouble she gets herslf into. But she does help him, in a way.

Ranma usually calls her a violent tomboy(as mentioned earlier), or anything that is unladylike. Some of these insults are true, Akane DOES lose her temper pretty fast and the result of that is someone getting hurt or something getting destroyed. Also, although she says she doesn't like Ranma, she always gets REALLY jealous when Ranma does anything remote from a leer to any female from age 12-20. She is also comically inept at traditional feminine pursuits like cooking, sewing, and tea ceremony. She swims like a hammer, being utterly incapable of staying afloat. But despite these negative traits, she really is a sweet girl who cares a lot for Ranma. Usually, after Ranma gets into a fight, we see her putting bandages on him and talking to him about his problems.

Usually, Ranma's other fiancées and rivals try to get them to be apart, but the thing that most usually happens is Ranma and Akane get closer together. But of course, that won't stop the arguments.
