One of the trips most frequently mentioned in our family is the one we took to New York in 1994. (On the photograph shown here you see Kriszta, my wife, Diana Brill, our friend, a coreographer, her son, Gregory and my son, Miklós on Roosewelt Island.) This was my first time in New York and I discovered, to my great surprise, that this huge city is among the most friendly ones I ever saw. The reason for this may be its being so big - what I mean is that it collects all sorts of people and these people had to learn to behave in a friendly way with one another. New York is full of life, one can find there any atmosphere one wants to feel, quiet places in the Central Park, wide horizons on the seaside, noise structured in a strange sort of music in the middle of the city, great museums, good theatres, etc. etc. I was very glad that I took my son with me. That was a sort of turning point for him: after that journey he became an adult.
However, even feeling myself so extremely well in New York City, I found that our city, Budapest, though it is not so big, is as exciting and as interesting, as New York is. As I have already said on my "Greetings" page - you must come and visit Budapest to feel something never felt: that a small country's capital may be intellectually as exciting as any big country's big cities.
By now Miklós is an adult, he has got 19 years at the moment. He speaks English fluently, learns Foreign Trade Management, plays basketball and is very good at mathematics. He is the most diplomatic member of the family.
