Histroy of Service:

July 1941
Hull was laid down Kobe.

March 1944
Commissioned ana assigned CarDiv 1, 3rd Fleet.

April 1944
Sent to Singapore with
SHOKAKU and ZUIKAKU.

May 1944
Aircrew training.

19 June 1944
Operation "A - GO" ~ The battle of the Marianas (The battle of the Philippines). Hit by 6 torpedoes from American submarine USS Albacore while launching the first raid against TF58. The TAIHO's fuel tanks were ruptured but she only reduced speed slightly. And her crew were trying to flee the jammed forward lift to allow the flying operation to continue. However, the gasoline vapour spread throughout the ship and was ignited some hours later and caused a massive explosion. She was listed to port and sank by the head.
