Launched

December 1941

Submarine tender TAIGEI was converted to a carrier.

18 April 1942
Damaged by B-25 "Doolittle Raid" while underwent construction in dock.

28 November 1942
Commissioned as aircraft carrier RYUHO and assigned to 3rd Fleet.

December 1942
Hit by one torpedo from submarine USS Drum outside Tokyo Bay.

November 1943 ~ January 1944
With
HIYO in company throughout this period.

19 ~ 20 June 1944
Operation "A - GO" ~ Battle of Marianas.
RYUHO was in Force 'B' with JUNYO and HIYO. She was attacked by four TBF from USS Enterprise and slightly damaged by near misses.

August 1944

Assginged to CarDiv 4, 3rd Fleet.

October 1944
Shipment of aviation materials to Keellung with carrier KAIYO.

November 1944
Assigned to CarDiv 1.

December 1944
Ferried "Ohka" suicide bomb to Formorse.

January 1945
Attacked by submarine but no damaged was recorded.

Attacked by TBFs but received no damage.

March 1945

Attacked by TF 58 air raid in Kure. Damaged by two rocket hits and three bomb hits and was heavily flooded.

Attacked by enemy's planes again. (Damaged unknown.)

April 1945
Attacked by carrier planes while moored in front of the HARUNA with no damaged.

November 1945

Scrapped from the Navy List.
